  7. Despite the madness that's been going on across the world in 2020 so far, we've received several solid projects from artists who've had fans eagerly awaiting new music. Next week, The Weeknd will release his forthcoming album, After Hours, the highly anticipated follow-up to 2016's Starboy. Sure, he's released music since but My Dear Melancholy was more of a taste of what's to come. Following the first three singles, "Heartless," "After Hours," and "Blinding Lights," the rapper is keeping fans at the edge of their seats for the entirety of his next project to drop. To celebrate, he announced that his Beats1 show, Memento Mori, would be airing on Thursday, March 19th at 9 p.m. for the After Hours edition. Along with the XO clique, fans can join along in listening to the project in its entirety for the first time. The rapper's new project is set to include fourteen tracks, although he's yet to share an official tracklist. He did, however, debut a new song on Saturday Night Live recently, "Scared to Live" which has now been confirmed as a song on the project. The Weeknd is also scheduled to hit the road this summer for the "After Hours" tour which kicks off in June. Given the recent string of tour and festival cancellations, hopefully, The Weeknd's dates aren't affected. View the full article
  8. Young love can be the inspiration for many things, so it makes a lot of sense that couple Willow Smith and Tyler Cole would take their blooming relationship all the way to the Billboard charts by debuting as an indie rock duo called The Anxiety. Cindy Ord/Getty Images for Stuart Weitzman The group's self-titled album is 10 songs deep, lasts just short of 30 minutes and ultimately sounds like the soundtrack to any teen drama of the '90s and early 2000s. The heart-wrenching angsts and screamo-inspired feels all mesh together into a project that does its best to reflect the personalities of both individuals involved. If it sounds like one big art project, that might be intentional; the album was promoted with a live exhibit in LA at The Geffen Contemporary Art at MOCA on Wednesday (March 11) that saw Willow and Tyler enclosed in a glass box for 24 hours as they expressed a handful of emotions that included fear, paranoia, compassion and, you guessed it, anxiety. Listen to The Anxiety, the debut album by Willow Smith & Tyler Cole's rock group of the same name, below: Tracklist: 1. Hey You! 2. Fight Club 3. Believe That 4. Poolside 5. Interlude 6. Entertain 7. Are You Afraid? 8. Meet Me At Our Spot 9. The System 10. After You Cry View the full article
  9. Lil Berete has been one of the most notable young artists emerging out of Toronto in the past few years. With melodies soaked in auto-tune, he's proven that versatility is his key. A month after releasing his last single with anders, "Ride Or Die," he returned with another record titled, "Doing Time." On his latest single, he further hones into his vocal ability as he speaks on incarceration, paranoia, and anxiety from the streets and how that effected his ability to be intimate. With the new single, it looks quite promising that we'll be getting a new project from Lil Berete this year. In an interview with Berete in July 2019, the rapper explained that his upcoming project will find him doing a little bit more of everything. "You guys are gonna know me more once I drop my album. There’s rapping, rockstar type music, there’s R&B, grime rap, different types of styles," he told HNHH. Keep your eyes peeled for that. 10. Machine Gun Kelly still has the blood of a GOAT on his hands, apparently. The rapper's feud with Eminem has not gone to rest, even after Em called a truce on Music To Be Murdered By. Although Machine Gun Kelly claims Eminem has been both rich and mad for the duration of the last twenty years, he, too, doesn't seem willing to make peace with the Detroit legend. Fresh off of the release of his new single, "Bullets With Names" ft. Young Thug, RJMrLa, and Lil Duke, Machine Gun Kelly made it clear that he still isn't on good terms with Em. Or if he is, he's atleast still proud of the damage done on "Rap Devil." "Killed me a GOAT so my jacket got stains on it Wipin’ my nose like I got some cocaine on it Pulled out his coffin and ate me a plate on it Called up his bitch, showed my dick, let ’em lay on it.” Chances are we won't hear Eminem mention it anytime soon but we'll see if MGK has any more shots to take at "Killshot" rapper. The single, with production from Ronny J, is set to appear on Machine Gun Kelly's next project, Tickets To My Downfall. Supposedly, the album will have a more pop-punk vibe to it. Randy Shropshire/Getty Images for Warner Music On "Selfies," 24hrs leads things with Drama assisting solely on the production end alongside DJ Marc B. The ATL-bred musician doubles down on his signature autotune vocals throughout this two-and-a-half minute track, digitally crooning about the many ways his girl is caught up in the flashy world of social media and their glamorous lifestyle together overall. 13. Octavian has been putting in work over the past few years, bending genres with influences from drill, electronic music, grime, hip-hop and more into his own unique fusion of worlds. The rapper released his last project, Endorphins that included "Bet" ft Michael Phantom and Skepta which became a massive hit in its own right. Now, Skepta reunited with Octavian once again for their brand new collab, "Papi Chulo." Seeing as how they both enjoy pushing the boundaries, they tap into some Latin guitar stylings with their new collab as they sprinkle their verses with Spanish words. Skepta and Octavian continue to prove that they're an incredible duo on wax that produces nothing but hits. Peep their new track below and keep your eyes peeled for more new music from both artists. 14. The production for Atlanta has been put on hold, according to Deadline. The coronavirus pandemic has forced production on the sets of Atlanta, Fargo, Snowfall and Y: The Last Man to be suspended after Donald Trump declared it a national emergency. Federal and local governments are trying to get control of the virus so for the next two weeks, all filming for those shows has been suspended. FX's Atlanta only recently announced that it would be returning for a third and fourth season. The Donald Glover-created series debuted its second season in 2018 and fans have waited for its arrival. Despite rumors that it would be arriving this year, FX Chairman John Landgraf said that it would be airing in 2021 with 10 episodes instead of eight. On top of that, they would be filming season four simultaneously and would launch it less than a year after season 3. Hopefully, the halt on production won't delay the release date for either season. Along with television programs having to stop production, films have also had to push back release dates. Quiet Place II, for example, won't be released as planned. John Kraskinki announced that it would be postponed to a yet to be announced date. Stay safe out there, everyone. View the full article
  15. Fivio Foreign is one of the trailblazing new rappers out of Brooklyn that you definitely need to know right now. Fresh off releasing the remix to his breakout single "Big Drip" featuring Lil Baby and Quavo, Fivio decided to take a quick visit to HOT 97 to give Paul Rosenberg the rundown on new music arriving soon, how he found out about the death of fellow drill emcee Pop Smoke and a clarification behind his business dealings with Mase. Johnny Nunez/WireImage After explaining his disbelief when people first started blowing up his phone the day Pop Smoke died, Fivio put the loss into perspective by saying it was the first death he's truly felt since his mom passed away in his arms from a stroke a few years ago. Fivio then went on to explain that the situation with Mase started after he dropped "Blixky Inna Box" with Jay Dee and Dee Savv, saying, "[Mase] was hip to the sound, to the Brooklyn drill sound." After Mase showed interest in signing all three guys, Fivio then confirmed that it was strictly a "production deal" on his end, further adding, "He don't own none of my publishing." This of course contradicts heavily with 50 Cent's claim last month that alluded to Fivio being stuck in an unfair publishing deal with Mase. Mase later denied that story himself, and it looks like Fivio just gave us a better understanding of the situation overall. Watch Fivio Foreign's full interview with Paul Rosenberg for HOT 97 below, which breaks down a few more things regarding his business with Mase and the new seven-figure publishing deal he just signed with Sony/ATV: View the full article
  16. Kevin McCall went after his ex, Eva Marcille, on social media, claiming that she only has children so for financial gain through child support checks. The artist posted a screenshot of an article on his Instagram story that bore the title, "Child support is 18 years of easy money: Women reveal the REAL reasons why they’ve lied about being on the Pill – and many DON’T regret what they’ve done." In the caption, he wrote, "Some women have children for a check….some of them out here working on baby number 3 and still talking about their Ex….having babies isn’t a career.” Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images He didn't stop there, but instead posted another story sharing his own words in regards to the topic. “Stop using child support to help you maintain being a BABY Momma terrorist," he ranted. "Its an easy check for 18 years I get it…but you on baby number 4 and complaining about your 1 st child .. are you hiding some strong feelings? If not focus on your two new babies and leave your old BABY DADDY ALONE HAHAA.” Of course, it's fairly evident that Kevin's sentiments are directed towards his baby mother, Eva Marcille, with whom he shares a daughter by the name of Marley Rae. The two of them were involved in a custody battle over Marley last year, which began when Kevin attempted to gain full custody of their daughter. Eva fired back, accusing him of being dangerous and never paying child support, and demanded that the case be dismissed. The custody arrangement remained in tact, and Eva even went on to legally change Marley's last name from McCall to Sterling, the last name belonging to her current husband, Michael. Eva and Michael tied the knot back in 2018, and they recently welcomed their second child together. Kevin recently expressed interest in going to therapy with Eva, believing that it might solve their problems. View the full article
