  1. I just added Arctic Torrent and Bits On Wheels (Mac client). Arctic Torrent is written in C++. It consumes very little RAM and is all around solid. It's also pretty up-to-date and looks promising. You'll need Windows 2000 or higher to run it. As for Bits On Wheels, I really don't know how I missed this one. It looks great. You'll need Mac OS 10.3 or higher (Panther and up including Tiger). Nothing less will do.

    Yoda

Actually, I think Yoda wants to stalk you like a celebrity, or at least that's what he told me. Happy birthday Yoda! :balloons:
  3. Well, the list format has changed, new clients have been added, a few URLs have been corrected or changed, and all version numbers have been updated. Questions? Comments? If anyone would like to read through it and point out any mistakes (from technical to grammatical), that would help me a lot.
  4. That's a big catfish. What did they use to catch him? I’m having trouble visualizing that.
  5. Did you run a virus scan during the time period that the program was installed and if so, what Anti-Virus program did you use?
  6. The guy makes some good points. It's not a waste of time, but it's not going to solve the problems plaguing most of Africa (completely I mean). And yes, he's right. The multi-millionaires could be giving tons, and I mean TONS more and not feel a standard of (excessive) living decrease at all (think Bill “fucking” Gates). He's being a complete ass when he says it won’t have a positive difference. It will make a difference, just not nearly enough of a difference, and it's certainly not going to be permanent. Costs are never ending; constant flows of money are needed to maintain societies, and I'm talking about one's that are already established and offering a minimum quality of life for the people that live there. For upstarts in Africa? You need a lot more and you need to worry about how a lot of the countries in Africa are going to sustain themselves GDP wise. What if you run into a situation where a country in Africa has no comparative advantage and basically has nothing to offer in the global view of economics (it’s not a fault, but a possible situation)? You could end up in a catch-22. The world is capitalist; no doubt about it. Even regime-oriented (often called “communist” or police states) countries participate in global economics (think China), and a lot of them have trouble with poverty too. Also, let’s not get into the deep-rooted political/tribal/emotional instabilities that exist. We’ve seen in the Arab world and many other places that those things can bring an even rich country (comparative advantage wise; think Iraq and oil) to a grinding, mutilated halt.
  7. Can't you just scan that individual file? It was only one file that showed up infected. It's present in the main install dir. Scan "KazaaLite.kpp"
  8. I gave up on AVG a long time ago. I'd install it, and then after a short while, the program wouldn't even launch. It would complain about something stupid related to not being able to load a particular skin or visual component associated with the program. The repair options wouldn’t work. The program is (maybe was?) a buggy piece of shit.
  9. I'm still holding out hope that it's just a false positive.
  10. I'm 99% sure it was from this location www.klitetools.com/dl/basic.exe EDIT: Make that 100% sure. That was indeed the installer file I used, and that is indeed the link I used.
  11. Two words. "No Proof" One word "Vaporware" It's Microsoft. They couldn't improve anything to save their lives.
  12. I recently obtained a Kazaa Lite continuation from http://www.klitetools.com/MM/index.htm Slyck links to it, in the Fasttrack information section, as a client for the Fasttrack network. My problem is, when doing a virus scan with ClamWin Anti-Virus, it identifies one of the files installed as a worm. http://sourceforge.net/projects/clamwin/ Scan started: <date> C:\Program Files\KAZAA LITE TOOLS K++\KazaaLite.kpp: Worm.Bagle.BB-gen FOUND -- summary -- Known viruses: 36125 Engine version: 0.86.1 Scanned directories: 0 Scanned files: 1 Infected files: 1 Data scanned: 1.25 MB Time: 0.840 sec (0 m 0 s) What's the story? False positive, or is something horrible happening here that Slyck should know about? I deleted the file, uninstalled the program completely, cleaned the registry, checked my running processes for anything unusual, did a second virus scan with trend micro's online scan, prayed to the Mayan gods, balancing a bucket of water on my head while I did an exorcism. I'm clean, CLEAN I tell you. However, I'm still concerned. Anyone?
  13. Poverty will never vanish, unless technological advancements make it so that the wants and needs of 7 billion people can be met indefinitely. Unlimited food supplies…. Unlimited housing space…. Unlimited………well………..everything. If I was a betting man...............well............................can't say I'd be in poverty after that. The intentions are good, but the view of the world they think they can create is delusional. I’m not picking on the premise here, I’m picking on the language of the words I quoted.
  14. They tortured the animal, and they didn't have to. That doesn't make any sense. You're right. We shouldn't be regulating the Chinese people; we should be obliterating their oppressive, inhuman regime that some people call a government (I don't call it a government; not in the 21st century). The Chinese are enslaved by a bullshit government that is being fed by various multi-national corporations. They keep their currency low while suppressing any hint of freedom or democracy (that might arise from their bullshit activities), and the Chinese people are the victims.
  15. Also, it should be obvious that the Bush administration officials that provided Novak the info are also guilty of treason.
  16. I don't know, but we're in a catch-22 here. I personally want to know when someone commits treason (like Novak), and in my mind, in my opinion, if finding out trumps the sources protection of Journalism, I'm sorry but I want to know. I'm a big fan of truth. There needs to be a well defined list of exceptions to the protection of sources.
  17. I understand this, and this is the basis for all RIAA lawsuits. However, I pose this question to you. How well do the users in your community "know" each other? If I was an RIAA operative, couldn't I join your community and rake in some IP addresses for lawsuit fodder? Stability I can't argue (and won't because I haven't used your software), but privacy is something very few (if any) sharing systems have. As a matter of fact, FreeNet and in some cases Newsgroups postings are about 99% anon, and then again, FreeNet users who store data or proxy for others might now be vulnerable. Also, NNTP providers may or may not remove headers that can identify who uploaded what content. So really, I'm curious as to how much "privacy" your client and community can offer. I worry about it because it seems to be a tag line when you reach out to people to participate in your community, and people need to know exactly what they're getting into without exaggeration and/or hype (which I'm not accusing you of specifically).
  18. Actually that's no problem at all. If you stick around the forum, you'll get a feel for where things go. ExoSee related material will generally end up somewhere in the File Sharing section. If you need help on where exactly to post a thread, PM a Mod, Admin or me if you'd like (EDIT: I'm back on MOD status, so I can help with thread placement on demand). Welcome to BeatKing.

    Closer

I'd rather jab my eyeballs with a fork than watch a movie with these actors...... Natalie Portman Jude Law Julia Roberts Also, I try not to look to movies to show how people can "really be" (there are exceptions, but very very very few). This is especially true of movies with these actors, because they just aren't believable in roles that do that. And really, I try to avoid movies that focus on human relationships in the manor this movie is set in. It’s really something that can only be truly understood (at least a bit) in reality.
  20. Bob Novak should be charged with treason against the United States. It's not just that he exposed the identity of a CIA operative (possibly putting her life in danger had she been assigned to a mission abroad; really, that's enough for treason), but it's also the reasoning. There is none. It was simple revenge based on his political stance and ideology in contrast to another (Plame's husband). He risked someone's life over a dispute of opinion. He's a dangerous human being.
  21. His decision to play it cagey in the Plame case is helping no one. By Jonathan Turley, Jonathan Turley is a professor at George Washington University Law School and has represented individuals asserting the journalistic privilege. Columnist Robert Novak has made a career for himself as a human flamethrower for conservative causes. Yet, even Novak appears surprised at the mounting cost of his disclosure in 2003 of the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame. Read Full Article
  22. This is probably a dumb question, but, Dylan's music or Springsteen's? (I'm obviously banking on Springsteen)

    Zultrax v3.44

It's amateurish. The developer is also an ass, and has made outlandish claims about the superiority of his ZEPP network in the past.

    Naughty or Nice?

Now, no useless Santa thread is complete without a thorough test. Here are some interesting results from a specific query... Fat Bastard Nice, but has naughty lapses. High marks in the good deeds department. Better than average manners. Hopefully, thoughtfulness will continue to be as good as last month. Neatness needs improvement! Who would have thought Fat Bastard had better than average manners?
