  1. By LAURIE J. FLYNN Published: July 23, 2005 Microsoft said yesterday that the new version of its Windows operating system would be named Vista and available for commercial release in late 2006. The first of two test versions of the program will be made available to corporate technology managers on Aug. 3, the company said. The new version has been known as Longhorn since development began more than four years ago. The name was chosen after eight months of research and focus groups because it "captures the idea of clarity," the company said. Source
  2. They will when they hear the grenade go off. I know you rat bastards at the FBI have me and everyone else under surveillance. This is a joke. J-O-K-E. Don't come a knockin on my door tomorrow. Feel free to visit me on Tuesday though.

    Voyeurs?

Ahh, so the rat bastards over at Gap's marketing department are responsible.
  4. Nothing a couple of grenades can't solve. Where am I from "ese"? **Ken shoves a grenade in the guy's mouth**
  5. Back when I used IE, I used to use Ad Sheild. However, now they've gone commercial, AND it's now a separate program, instead of an integrated, small component. It's so clunky, it's not even worth pirating!
  6. Oh, and you really are an asshole, so that's the same.
  7. Should have known it was grab_grab_the_haddock. My comments still stand though. If you're reading grab, just replace all mean-spirited "idiot" and "moron" with light-hearted "idiot" and "moron". Same thing, only this way I don't have to edit, and less typing is more time to go get something to drink.
  8. Wow, what a mental midget. I don't know many people who go to unscrupulous web sites to download FireFox extensions (nor do I care about them). The chances of someone doing that are the same as someone downloading an executable and getting infected. He pulled that one out of his ass, just to be an ass. Also, if AdBlock is the only extension he deems worthy, than he hasn't tried a lot of them. Either that or he's an idiot who can't be pleased. Really, he just doesn't make any sense. Good point and I agree with him. However, before he mentions IE, he should consider the fact that Microsoft has, in the past, taken weeks and months to release fixes for their vulnerabilities. Also, it's been MS policy to sweep problems under the rug if they find them. IE is closed source and is the product of proven morons who've released insecure software numerous times in the past. You don't hear about every Microsoft problem. Who do I trust for security? Certainly not MS over Mozilla. At least with Mozilla, bugs are found, AND CORRECTED within days. This is thanks to a large fan base and the open nature of the software. Ok, he's an Opera fanboy. That doesn't bother me (and nobody said that FireFox was the first to offer tabbed browsing). However, why would someone..... A. Use an insecure browser (IE IS INSECURE) B. Get separate shell for that browser. MS should have had tabbed browsing a long time ago. Maybe on his PII 233 MHz machine with 32 MB of RAM. FireFox is pretty fast for me. It all depends on a user's system.......and their ability to keep it running smooth. He's obviously a moron. They're called standards asshole. Sometimes breaking with standards will introduce technologies that are a security threat, or that are proprietary. ActiveX anyone? There's nothing wrong with the rendering engine. Besides, he says "poor". Poor? Poor at what? Maybe he should elaborate instead making an empty accusation. Besides, if you really have a problem with a particular page, a nice little EXTENSION will let you view the page in Internet Explorer (which is, admittedly, the most compatible browser out there), if you're willing to take the risk. There are some things I don't like about FireFox (crappy bookmark GUI, lack of a good internal ad blocker), but it also let's me disable Java and javascript easily, and the settings are well organized. They also stick to a bookmark import/export standard that lets me transfer it to other browsers easily. I can export my bookmarks to IE or Opera. I can import them from IE. However, I'll be damned if Opera will play nice. I can't import Opera bookmarks into IE or FireFox (without a handy-dandy homemade script that someone was nice enough to give to me). I also don't like Opera's GUI. Oh, and one more thing, Opera is NOT FREE. Oh sure, there is a free version, WITH AN AD BANNER, but let's face it, if Opera was a P2P program, there would be people releasing "Clean Opera" or "Opera Lite" (maybe there are?). I don't have anything against Opera as a product, I just like FireFox better.
  9. I find it sickening that anyone would habor ill will towards her just because she is related to him. You'd have to have a retarded mentality.
  10. No surprise here. I remember a couple years ago seeing a photo of him (in public, not a professional photo) and all I had to do was look at his eyes. A definite coke head. I suppose this is the norm in the music business, or at least somewhat popular.

  12. So this is more or less NZ isolationism and generalization driven prejudice? It actually seems like the same mentality that the United States government (and the hicks that vote for them) have about Mexican immigration and such. It’s ironic that two governments so different on many main issues are so similar on others. I'm sorry Kiwi, but that's what pops into my mind based on your description.
  13. I don't think they're providing the music themselves. They simply "don't care" if people distribute their material on P2P networks and such.
  14. He will be truly missed. I really didn't know that. What a remarkable piece of information.
  15. I'd have to agree with Jip on the name. He should've gone with Richard Cranium663times2.
  16. That's dirty. Using the wireless access angle to get him with something. That's not justice, that's a personal vendetta by those in power against someone who was wronged.
  17. His fault. The legal questions I'll leave to the lawyers to haggle over. The bottom line is, if you don't want to risk something like this getting out into public view, don't do it (taping).
  18. The big thing to look for in all these tools is whether they will be able to adapt to the new copy protections that have been talked about.
  19. Development of this program has stopped. The author came under legal fire.

  24. It's not the best song in the world, but I think they did a good job being a little creative with the lyrics. The melody is average pop fair; nothing too special. Overall, the album "Yourself or someone like you" was a rock/pop album that was just a little more creative than the standard crap that was playing at the time (and continues to play today). It's not great, but I can't give it my standard "this is dog shit" label. I give it 3 out of 5 stars.
