  1. Not when your penis and testicles catch fire. That's a tragedy.
  2. My point of view has almost nothing to do with morals (though you have to admit, almost everyone has certain "minimum" moral handles on sex; that's why you'd be so repulsed by pedophilia). My point of view actually (if you believe this) had more to do with personal concern for others. A form of compassion I guess. I would just hate to see someone not being completely honest with themselves about why they do something, and I have "suspicions" about prostitution in some instances for some people. By the way, I think the world's oldest profession is not prostitution. Prostitution requires more cerebral function than perhaps some primitive man doing some mundane task like rubbing two sticks together to start a fire, or something of that nature. Actually, I always thought the oldest profession was the guy who shoveled shit during a parade.
  3. That's true, and I tried not to generalize too much in my previous response. However, your second sentence brings up a useful point. Do you think that brothels like these should do physiological testing to screen out those who may be self-destructive (or something of that nature)? Many professions have these types of tests (my cousin is going to be a NYS corrections officer, and he went through many tests both physical and physiological). I know that it's sometimes difficult and intrusive to meddle in someone life choices, but I think it's also important to the business. Business problems can develop from personal problems gone awry, and the profession is just as delicate as the job my cousin may have (though in a different way).
  4. Please do tell. I'd be interested in hearing about it. As for myself, I look at prostitution and prostitutes with some skepticism. I seem to get a feeling of something lurking beneath the surface of many of their psyches that is not as honest and as enthusiastic as they sometimes let on. It makes me think that many prostitutes are not happy that they’re in that “line of work”, or that the profession has something to do with "problems" in their lives; perhaps some sort of emotional and/or physical outlet. I don't debate the "freedom" aspect. I'm not happy about laws that ban prostitution. I could be wrong, or at least partially wrong. I would like to read your opinions on this. And just for assurance, 99% of the time I don't agree with your opinions, comments, etc, but I, nor anyone else, is going to launch a personal attack against you for just expressing yourself. I only bite when I've been personally bitten. Go ahead and do it. You won't be going off topic by doing so.
  5. Hey, they can do what they want I guess. I doesn't affect me. This usually refers to the trading of human slaves/exploited people. There has been no claim that this particular company has enslaved anyone or forced anyone to do anything. If Reuters would like to keep their image as being factual and non-biased, they should consider re-wording their news article. I will say one thing though; organizations like this should be scrutinized very closely. All employees should be investigated to ensure that they are 100% voluntary (nobody should be paying off debts owed to people associated with the business by working there, etc) and everyone involved should be investigated to make sure they're going about their business in the safest manner possible. It's all part of the nature of the business. If these precautions aren't already the norm, they should be.
  6. THE HANDY DANDY ANALOGX BITPUMP ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thanks for taking the time to test this beta version of AnalogX BitPump, a lightweight, low-dependency, fast BitTorrent client for Windows. The beta version is set to expire in a few months, but the release version should be out long before than unless somethings really major comes up. All of the core functionality of the program should be operational, including all the settings from the config. It shouldn't have any problems downloading Torrent files that any of the other clients can - so if you encounter any problems, please contact me. There shouldn't be anything major you can do to foul things up - in the config you can always hit 'Reset' to bring it back to the install defaults if it's acting crazy. In most cases all you'll probably ever be doing is clicking on .torrent links inside your browser and downloading, and that's about it. One note on the availability display; here's how to interpret what it is showing. Since all torrent downloads are sliced up into pieces, each line in the availability display translates to one (or more) piece of the file. If the piece is red, that means that the particular piece is not currently available from any of the peers you're connected to. Normally this is no big deal, since you're constantly connecting to new peers, sooner or later you should find someone who has it. The color yellow indicates that a particular piece is only available from one source - if the Retrieval method in the Peer config is set to scarcity, then it will try to get these uncommon pieces first. Next it will show a shade of blue - dark blue means there are less peers sharing a piece all the way to light blue which means a piece is readily available. Finally, green indicates that you have successfully downloaded and verified that particular piece of the file. If you encounter any problems (ie; bugs), please do the following: 1. In the directory where BitPump is installed in, you'll find a file called 'debug.log', this file contains debug information to help me get a better idea of what was happening when the problem occurred. This file gets overwritten every time BitPump runs, so make sure to zip it up and send it to me before you run the program again. 2. If the problem was with a particular torrent file, include the torrent (if possible) with the debug.log in the zip file. 3. Shoot me an email at: [email protected] ***THIS EMAIL ADDRESS WILL ONLY BE VALID DURING TESTING*** and attach the zip file you just made. In the message, also give me the details about what you expected to happen, what really happened, and any other information that might be of use. If you have any suggestions for improvements, shoot them to the same email address listed above. Right now top of this list is UPNP support, the new trackerless extension, and UDP support - so don't bother asking for those, they're already on the top of the list :) Also, please don't redistribute this anywhere (ie; post it on other sites, etc), I'm trying to keep the beta as low key as possible, so if you have a friend that's a super torrent user, by all means give him a copy, but just don't submit it to snapfiles.com or anything like that! :) I would also like to thank everyone at Steve Gibson's ThinkTank newsgroup that helped test and improve the first version of the app - your suggestions and testing was invaluable! Thanks again for checking out the program! -Mark http://www.analogx.com/ Homepage
  7. The WWE has been doing this for years. Obviously, this particular play of a stereotype has appeal to their target audience, rednecks. While some watch Wrestling for the comedic value (I watch it occasionally, it's like a violent "variety" show), most are genuinely stupid. Didn’t the WWE do something like this during the Iranian hostage taking of Americans during the 80s? I seem to remember someone pointing out that they introduced a stereotypical Iranian character back then. The point is, the WWE is the lowest common denominator in entertainment, and they also carry a biased agenda with them.

    Bushisms

The scary part of this one is that if he's referring to the September 11 attacks, he accidentally eluded to the fact that war was on his administration's mind BEFORE the attacks, in which case his true motives for his blunders and bullshit are very much the question on my mind. See? He's so stupid; he gave away his inner circle's secrets in one quick statement. I’m sure they flog him when they’re in private. “Don’t be a dumb ass, just do what you’re told” they undoubtedly say to him.

    Bushisms

Probably not the dumbest ever in the history of planet Earth, but probably the dumbest in recent memory. Certainly the dumbest U.S. president ever.

His stupidity is painfully obvious. One thing though, I don't think Rumsfeld is the force behind anything. It's a sad collection of people. If anything, Cheney is a more likely candidate. An "inherently evil" one might be Cheney. If you remember, he is the one that said the "insurgency" is in its last "throes" in an interview. He's seems very hawkish, defensive, and dishonest; quick to spew the made-up fantasy that the entire Republican party has made. Rumsfeld seems too confused all to hell to be a master mind. Obviously Bush is not behind anything. It’s hard to say really. There are too many assholes running around to be able to tell who is running the circus. ning the circus.

  12. Certain companies have been underhandedly trying to quash this (cable companies, etc..) They've failed, however. Hopefully this will soon be available.

  14. They did, and she said "no". Now I suppose they want to find out if she's lying or not. This is all a pointless waste of time.
  15. This version fixes some bugs in 1.4 and can be considered a replacement for it. also, servers can now be blacklisted Forum posting
  16. You just need a trip to your happy place. Padded walls, a nice white jacket, and a round room so you have no corners to shit in!
  17. MLDonkey has released v2.6.0. I've updated the BETA version number for Azureus. XBT updated a few days ago to v0.6.0, but I failed to post about it. There's probably a few other minor updates I forgot to mention. Also, just to let everyone know, the BitTorrent plug-in for the eDonkey program has been abandoned by the original developer(s). It's no longer worthwhile to use.

    F*****G Ebay!

That's really a waste of time. Any neutral or negative feedback that you leave for someone usually results in negative feedback in retaliation (the system is flawed), even if you’ve committed no foul. The only way to get someone is to avoid feedback all the way up until maybe the last day you can leave feedback for a particular auction and then, like auction sniping, you can snipe the feedback. Its tough timing it right though.

    F*****G Ebay!

The majority of sellers (even if they live next door to you) don't allow for in-person pick-ups. I bought some RAM from a person about 15 minutes away from me (by car), and I couldn't pick it up. Luckly even with the shipping, it was still a steal, and the shipping price wasn't so bad. Some companies might let you do it, but the majority still don't allow it.

Oh, and while we're on the subject of SNES and N64, if you have a decent system with a half way decent video card, and a joy stick/controller (optional because you can use your keyboard, but it'll be tough for N64 and such) for your computer, you can grab up all the SNES and N64 games in ROM file format, and use an emulator program to play them. Cheaper, and you can get almost any game in existence (From regular P2P, IRC, Newgroups, and ME! I've snagged hundreds of SNES and N64 ROMS from the newsgroups). I can set you up with an Emulator, ROMs and instructions on how to use them. PM me if you're interested.

    F*****G Ebay!

He's running a shipping scam (nobody does this "send extra back" shit; there's no protection from eBay or any guarantee he'll send it back). Also.... The numbers you quoted were bloated beyond my wildest dreams. Stay away from now on. I also recommend that you look for auctions from people within your own country and/or who list items in your currency. It's less of a headache, expecially for something like an old N64 system.
  22. Probably not. Should they? In my opinion, yes. Why? This isn't a movie; this is a real war that the U.S. initiated. The U.S. government and its military serve I and others, the people of the U.S. We should see what is going on, because I fear many U.S. citizens are oblivious to what war and occupation is actually like.
  23. I don't have heavy disdain for her, but whenever I see the image of her sitting on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun, I think to myself "Why the fuck did you do that? What's the point?". In reality, my contempt is more of the fact that she's just another generic celebrity "activist" (i.e. she's bored and now she's playing little miss protestor again). Really, why would anyone give a shit what she does? Those Georgia rednecks (besides being misguided fools) are really wasting their hatred. They should just shoot some cans to let off steam; maybe shove some corn up their asses or something. Who knows, maybe their rectums will bleed and they will die of blood loss, thus eliminating their dumb Bush vote in the next election.
  24. I hear you. My city has been in money grab mode for a long time (since the city has been on a downward economic spiral for more than 25 years). They've cheated many parking meters too, saying they were expired when they weren't.
