  1. Blake Griffin's time with the Detroit Pistons hasn't been what he was hoping it would be, and over the last couple of years, the writing has been on the wall for an exit. This has been especially true this season as Griffin has been a shell of his former self, and doesn't seem too interested right now. As a result, Griffin will no longer be playing with the Pistons and will get to sit out until the team figures out what to do with him, according to ESPN. "I am grateful to the Pistons for understanding what I want to accomplish in my career and for working together on the best path forward," Griffin said about the situation. Maddie Meyer/Getty ImagesIn the report, Pistons General Manager Troy Weaver spoke on the situation and how at this point, the differences are irreconcilable. Now, the team will just have to figure out whether or not they can execute a trade, or buyout the contract altogether. "After extensive conversation with Blake's representatives, it has been determined that we will begin working to facilitate a resolution regarding his future with the team that maximizes the interests of both parties," Weaver said. "We respect all the effort Blake has put forth in Detroit and his career and will work to achieve a positive outcome for all involved." This is a situation that many saw coming, and over the next few weeks, we will be sure to bring you all of the latest information in regards to the ordeal. 2. Michael Jordan is officially a NASCAR owner and his joint venture with Denny Hamlin, 23XI Racing, made its debut on Sunday at the Daytona 500 as Bubba Wallace was piloting the number 23 DoorDash car. After a rocky start, Wallace found himself near the front of the pack, before dropping back after a shakey tire derailed his ability to contend for the win. In the end, Wallace finished 17th, although he racked up enough stage points to end up eighth in the NASCAR standings following the first race. Moving forward, this team has a lot of promise, and they are also looking to make a big statement. While speaking to The Athletic, Wallace discussed what it's like being the only black driver in the Cup series, and just how important it is to have Jordan as an owner. For Wallace, this is going to do wonders for opening up the sport. Jared C. Tilton/Getty Images“You know, talking to (Jordan), it’s just providing the exposure,” Wallace said. “The exposure to opportunities for minorities to be in the sport – on this side of the fence, or the other side of the fence. That’s really the biggest thing. Literally, everybody knows who Michael Jordan is. ‘Oh, he’s a part of NASCAR? I might tune in.’ ‘Oh, he’s the owner (of the team) of the only Black guy in Cup? [Pantomimes a phone call] Hey, you hear MJ’s in NASCAR?’ They’re calling their buddies. Snowball effect. That’s kind of how I think it works. Because with everything I did last year (to) bring in a new influx of fans, with MJ coming into the sport, it brings in a new influx of fans. We just have to keep providing the exposure to opportunity.” 23XI Racing is currently partnered up with Joe Gibbs Racing, which is one of the best teams in NASCAR. As a result, Bubba has some of the best equipment of his career, and he is poised for one of his best seasons to date. With the Daytona Road Course taking place next weekend, Wallace will have an opportunity to showcase this new car on one of the more difficult tracks in the sport. If you're a fan of auto-racing, it's definitely going to be a fun season. James Gilbert/Getty Images[Via] http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/realhotnewhiphop/~4/S1oe1wMxP9IView the full article
  3. While this reported new couple have yet to post a static Instagram photo together yet, it’s clear that the two are pretty happy together. 45-year-old Barker and 41-year-old Kardashian have celebrated their first Valentine’s Day together as a couple this year, following a long friendship between the two and their families. On Sunday evening, they made their relationship "IG Story" official. Both Barker and Kardashian posted photos of a warm, crackling fireplace to their Instagram stories, indicating that they were likely sharing a cozy evening together. Kourtney later posted a short Valentine’s Day poem with a nod to her drummer boyfriend’s band, writing “Roses are red, violets are blue, garlic bread, Blink-182.” Travis also posted a photo to his Instagram story of what was seemingly Kourtney’s ankle wearing a diamond anklet. Could this be a possible Valentine’s Day gift? Kourtney Kardashian / Instagram Travis Barker / InstagramIt was only last month that we received word that the relationship between Travis and Kourtney had became romantic, as they had been friends for several years prior. The two reportedly share similar goals and priorities, which is why they get along so well, an inside source telling People that, “Her family and friends all really like him. Their kids all get along too, which is sweet.” Kourtney Kardashian / InstagramCombined, the two have a total of six children, with Kourtney and Scott Disick co-parenting their kids Mason, 11, Penelope, 8, and Reign, 6. Travis counts his stepdaughter Atiana, 21, son Landon, 17, and daughter Alabama, 15, among his children. According to another inside source from People, “Kourtney knows what Travis likes and the opposite. And they have a lot in common. They both prioritize their kids so there is no conflict there.” Take a look at their Valentine's Day admissions in the screenshots above. 4. Seasoned rap vet Bow Wow has been in a handful of controversial moments in just the past six months alone, but it looks like the "Bounce With Me" emcee is looking to wrestle away any negative energy by getting into...wrestling? Yes, it looks like Shad Moss is trying his luck in the WWE, but for some reason he's already getting into beef with superstar wrestlers before he even steps foot into the ring. Image: George Napolitano/FilmMagicSounding off on social media, as per usual, Bow Wow addressed the handful of wrestlers who had something to say about his high aspirations to be a WWE Champion, writing on Twitter, "A lot of the wrestlers who are coming for me on twitter should be happy im going back and forth. Most have like 70k followers. Im actually helping you become a bigger name (million dollar man laugh) how you on RAW with 50k followers. Something not adding up [sic]." He doubled down when posting the message to Instagram, also adding in the caption, "Its gone hurt when i win a title before they do daamn... how yall let like mike come in and ruffle your feathers #BOWWOWWWE," also commenting further, "From hit records to movies to hosting to future wwe champion. #believe." He seemed to get a response from pro wrestler Damian Priest after taunting him by writing on Twitter, "Hey @ArcherOfInfamy tell your little pet bad bunny I’ve been watching... and im not impressed. Eyes Rabbit face No entry sign ... i got @TheRealMorrison back! Stop hiding from the REAL mr bunny." Priest responded by writing back, "Ha! Not impressed huh? Every Monday we're living what you're chasing homie. But by all means, keep shooting blanks on Twitter." Thankfully it all seems to be in good fun, as Bow Wow wrote in response to a fan who asked if the beef with Damien was real, "Naw damian cool. Just poking at em a lil bit!" Shad seems to be a longtime fan of wrestling too, as you can see in the throwback photo posted above of him and Omarion at the height of their Face Off fame attending a 2007 WWE event in NYC. Take a look below at some of the other big claims Bow Wow is making about is WWE debut, including training with wrestling icon Rikishi and his desire to go up against Bad Buddy or the collective RETRIBUTION. 5. Rise & Grind is a brand new editorial series, meant to introduce and dissect new, buzzing, or underground artists. Staten Island rapper CJ has been a buzzing name on the East Coast since the release of "Whoopty." The Indian music-sampling beat's grown in familiarity over the years with artists like Memo 600 & King Von, Pop Smoke, and more tackling the production, but it was the success of CJ's version that propelled it into the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Following it up with "Bop," CJ's now getting ready to make a formal introduction to the masses with his major-label debut, Royalty Over Loyalty, executive produced by French Montana. Ahead of its release at the end of this week, get a bit more familiar with CJ, as we launch the first installment of HNHH's Rise & Grind series, where we have up-and-coming talent answer 10 basic questions before diving into a brief Q&A. Stay tuned for a new instalment of Rise & Grind every Monday. Rise & Grind: CJ. Image via artist.Stomping Grounds:I was born and raised in Staten Island, New York. It’s a small town, ya know? Ain’t much come outta Staten Island ever since Wu-Tang Clan. That was 20, 25 years ago, so to have that on my back is a blessing. Zodiac Sign:I’m a Capricorn. I say a hard worker. We’re true to working hard and getting things done. Ever since I was little I always had a love for music and I always told myself one day I’m going to turn it into a career. And I was just perfecting my craft when I was young. Top 5: D.O.A:[Laughs] Top five dead or alive: Jay, Big, 50, Nas, and then… sheesh, that’s a tough one. I’ma say, Drake. Biggest accomplishment:Every day is a different goal I set for myself. Even getting a hundred million views on YouTube and a hundred million streams, every day I set a new goal. We just dropped a “Bop” video. That got 2.5 million views in less than two days. So, if we can get I wanna say 5 million in the next day or two, that’s a goal I’m setting. Studio Habits & Essentials:The lights gotta be very dim. I don’t like too much light. I just gotta catch a vibe. What are three things I need in the studio? Definitely water, for sure. When you rapping, you be parched. Some snacks, just to get a little snack on. And then… what else? I think that’s really it. I’m not too, ya know -- I’m simple. [Laughs] “Whoopty”:I was on YouTube one day, just scrolling through instrumental and that sample had caught my attention. And the song is produced by a producer named Pxcoyo. He’s from Romania. The knock on the beat was just crazy. I was like “ Yeah I definitely gotta jump on this and see what I could do with it.” I locked in the studio and made magic. When I first shot [the “Whoopty” video], I knew it was gonna go viral, but I thought it was gonna be on some more tristate, around New York. I thought it would’ve made some noise. But, I definitely didn’t think it would blow up the way it did. [Cardi B & Offset’s co-signs are] a blessing. Those are people I was listening to while I was coming up. So, for them to co-sign me and be behind me and just support me, it’s a blessing. It’s like a surreal moment watching those people reach out. First Bars:My first bars? Nah, that was a little while ago. I started rapping around the age of 14 years old. And I started taking it more seriously around 19, 20. I think, let me see… Nah I definitely don’t [remember]. I think it was to Bobby Shmurda “Hot N***a.” I had recorded on my first track ever [over that beat]. First Show:I got the chance to perform in Orlando. This was back in October, I believe. It was a crowd of 2,500 to 3,000 people. It was [for] a Voter’s Rally event and it was just crazy. Just seeing those kids out there and just seeing them singing word for word. It was an amazing feeling. Clocking Out:I’m into video games, heavy. I like playing video games in my free time. I got the PS5. I’m playing more like sports games. Like NBA 2K, UFC. We do the fighting games, we do the Mortal Kombat. Whenever I get the time I just hop on the game. I got the guys up here at the house with me so we just play. Up Next:We just dropped the new song “Bop”, it’s out right now. We’re at 2.6, 2.7 million views on YouTube by now. I’m dropping my EP. It’s called, Loyalty Over Royalty, in February so stay tuned for that. That’s gonna be crazy. That’s gonna be super dope. And then we’re working on that album. Rise & Grind: CJ. Image via artistWhat was the choice behind dropping “Bop” as the follow-up to “Whoopty”? It was just the energy of the record. It gave that “Whoopty” feel, that “Whoopty” energy. It’s a little more slow tempo, but it still makes you want to get up and dance, you know what I’m sayin’? And the first thing that came to my head when I heard it was like a bop. So I was like, “Yeah. I’ma run with that name,” and it’s doing pretty good. I feed off [the energy in the studio]. If they are rocking with the beat or they rockin with the hook, it kind of just pushes me. It’s just their facial expressions. They give you that look like “Whoa.” Like, “this is fire.” So, I just ran with it. I feel like you kind of know off the rip once you get that feel. You know, sometimes you catch a chill in your body real quick and you know it’s one of those. How did French Montana become the executive producer of Loyalty Over Royalty? Shout out to French. You know, that’s family. He just wanted to help out on this project and just give me some guidance. I’m seven months in the game. He’s been in the game for a little while. He knows the ins-and-outs of this industry. He just wanted to guide me in the right direction and help me with this project. But yeah, shout out to French. That’s family right there. Definitely expect something from me and French. After Cardi B & Offset co-signed “Whoopty,” should we expect a collaboration on the horizon? We haven’t spoken about potentially working on something, but Offset and Cardi did reach out. They’re just showing love and just embracing me. Who can we expect on Loyalty Over Royalty? Like, I said I definitely got something with French on there. This is really just my introduction to the industry. I didn’t want to get too crazy with features and flood the whole EP with features, so I kind of just kept it a little to myself and just got some records with just me. But definitely the next project, definitely expect some more features. Tell me about working with Tekashi 6ix9ine during the height of his career. Yeah, he was buzzing at the moment. He had his [first] two hit records out. I had the opportunity to work with him while he was hot. You know, we jumped in the studio and we locked in. Favorite Wu-Tang member? Gotta be Meth. I ain’t gonna lie, that’s my guy. Actually, I know his son. I knew him when I was in high school and I used to go by his house and stuff like that. So, we kind of know each other a little bit. In my opinion, he was kind of the face of the whole Wu-Tang Clan situation and then just watching him in movies growing up. So, shout out to Meth. I used to go by the crib, I used to go by the house a lot. I believe he had showed love, but me and him haven’t really reconnected ever since “Whoopty” came out. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/realhotnewhiphop/~4/Qs0EkBt1axkView the full article
  6. Benny The Butcher has been praised for many qualities, both regarding his musical repertoire and his character. Having made no secret of his own history on the streets of Buffalo, it's evident that The Butcher values loyalty and adherence to a general moral code. Johnny Nunez/WireImage/Getty ImagesAs such, he hasn't been averse to voicing his disdain for Tekashi 6ix9ine, the rainbow-haired rapper who drew the rap game's ire for snitching in a highly-publicized RICO case. Especially after 6ix9ine seemed to embrace the informant reputation, while at the same time behaving in exactly the same abrasive and confrontational manner. It's no wonder The Butcher had thoughts on 6ix9ine's recent run-in with Meek Mill, which found both rappers exchanging heated words and on Meek's end, loogies. Though some like Wack 100 have criticized Meek for allowing 6ix9ine to openly disrespect him without consequence, it's clear that Benny The Butcher interpreted the events differently. In fact, he suggested that Tekashi was living up to his reputation and actively attempting to tempt Meek Mill into breaking the law, a decision that could prove severe for the Roc Nation rapper. "The snitch rapper tryna get ni**as caught up and y’all think it’s cool," writes Benny, on his Twitter page. "I’d never trick myself out the streets to prove I’m gangster to the internet." It's not the first time Benny The Butcher addressed 6ix9ine, having taken to Twitter to reveal that 6ix9ine's team had reached out for a collaboration; unsurprisingly, he declined. It should be noted that 6ix9ine's teamed denied the exchange ever happened. Either way, it's unlikely that The Butcher will ever hold Tekashi in high regard -- check out his take on the Meek Mill situation below. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/realhotnewhiphop/~4/4ZjECpe2fwsView the full article
  7. It's been less than a month since Kodak Black's been out and while he has fulfilled his musical obligations with the release of two new singles, he's also putting his mouth is when it comes to his philanthropic duties. The rapper had shown interest in doing more charitable work after his release from prison, even pledging a $1M donation to a charity if Trump released him (the tweet has since been deleted, apparently). Theo Wargo/Getty ImagesOn Sunday, the rapper announced the Meadow Pollack Scholarship fund during a visit to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High in Parkland, Florida on the three-year anniversary of the deadly shooting that claimed 17 lives. The rapper appeared alongside the mayor and other city officials at the memorial service where there were roughly 100 guests in attendance. Kodak was specifically at the memorial to honor Meadow Pollack, a student that died during the mass shooting. Kodak's lawyer told TMZ that he was Meadow Pollack's favorite artist which inspired the rapper to commemorate her with a scholarship in her name. Kodak reportedly established a $100K scholarship fund at the Nova Southeastern University Law School where Meadow's brother, Hunter, is attending. The scholarship will go towards students who want to study criminal justice reform. "I’d like to thank @KodakBlack1k for joining us last night to honor the Parkland Victims. Kodak was Meadow’s favorite musician. His compassion to help others is truly sincere. He’s pledged to start a scholarship in Meadow’s honor, and I applaud him for his efforts," Hunter tweeted. A video of the rapper's attendance was shared on social media where he made a speech and lit a candle with Hunter in honor of the victims. 8. Los Angeles rapper slash melodist Kalan.FrFr has returned with his new single "No Love," enlisting Mozzy for the assist. As expected given the two artists involved, the track comes heavy on the west-coast vibes, kicking off with a dense synth bassline and some slick guitar riffs. Kalan wastes little time in showcasing his melodic chops, inviting his haters to look in the mirror before casting judgment. "You ain't a boss until your n***as eating," he raps. "It get scary when I'm broke I turn into a demon / It get scary in the field, I still hear mama screamin." Mozzy slides through to close things out, his authoritative tone adding a new element to the laid back cut. "N***as speaking down onto Mozzy like we ain't like that," he raps, in his opening bars. "He ain't take a plea for that body, he finna fight that / left in Maserati and told em' that I'll be right back." While it's not exactly a character-defining single for either party, it's a welcome collaboration all the same, one that builds further chemistry between two of LA's rising names. Check it out for yourself now, and sound off if Kalan.FrFr has been on your radar of late. 9. Even if you didn't have a "joint" to celebrate Valentine's Day with yesterday, we can all pretty much agree on our shared loved for hip-hop here at, well, HotNewHipHop! To show just how much we love the "interesting" dynamic between us and our readers, take a listen to a beautiful new version of "We Belong Together" by the incomparable music legend, Mariah Carey. Image: Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic, Inc/GettyAssisted by her amazing live band, MC redid her 2005 song of the decade, which won the 2005 GRAMMY awards for "Best Female R&B Vocal Performance" and "Best R&B Song" (seen above), during a remote appearance on Live With Kelly And Ryan and simply titled it “Mimi’s Late Night Valentine’s Mix." While the song structure stays the same and the sampled melody of Renée Geyer's 1977's ballad "Stares and Whispers" is still in tact, this version completely takes us into a different mood emotionally. It also doesn't hurt that Mariah looks amazing as she performs the number in a fitting black dress and her signature shapely figure. When sharing on Twitter, the pop queen had this to say: “Happy early Valentine’s Day! Hope you enjoyed ‘We Belong Together’ on @LiveKellyRyan which we did after a late night jam session! We actually recorded a 7 minute version of this song, thinking of putting it out for the lambily!” Mariah also has plans of releasing this version on streaming platforms, which she wanted to do on Valentine's Day but couldn't for technical reasons. She explained it in response to The Roots member Questlove by writing, "Yeeees! I wanted to release it today but I guess it'll take a few more days." Listen to the astounding "Mimi's Late Night Valentine's Mix" of Mariah Carey's hit song "We Belong Together" below, and let us know whether you prefer this one or the original version down in the comments: http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/realhotnewhiphop/~4/WtzeWFcqaO8View the full article
  10. Clot has consistently been one of Nike's favorite collaborators over the years and every few months, sneakerheads can expect these two to link up and offer something truly great. This was especially true with the Clot x Nike Air Max 1 "Kiss Of Death," which released all the way back in 2006 as part of the launch of ACU, which is a sneaker boutique in China. Fans have been waiting for these to make a comeback and 15 years later, it looks like that wish is about to be fulfilled. After DJ Khaled previewed the shoe on his Instagram page, fans were gearing up for new details, and today, we got some official images. As you can see in the photos below, the shoe has a beige suede upper with some burgundy on the back heel and Nike swoosh. Orange is placed on the midsole, all while the toe box is translucent and contains some symbols. The whole shoe is inspired by the spiritual energy "Chi," and the colorway is incredibly unique when compared to the rest of the Air Max 1 catalog. So far, a release date has yet to be announced, so stay tuned for details as we will be sure to bring them to you. As always, let us know what you think, in the comments below. 11. The list of fallen rap legends is alarmingly extensive, but that doesn't mean that those very same artists will ever go forgotten. Not with such extensive and memorable musical legacies to their names. Case in point, Big L's Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous, released on March 28th, 1995, continues to withstand the test of time as a bonafide classic. On the anniversary of his death twenty-two years ago, it feels appropriate to highlight one of L's biggest tracks in "Put It On," a single that puts his storied lyrical dexterity on full display. Over a minimalist boom-bap instrumental, L makes the most of his space and showcases an absolutely deadly multisyllabic flow. "I'm known to have a hottie open, I keep the shotty smokin," he spits. "Front, and get half the bones in your body broken / And when it comes to gettin' nookie I'm not a rookie, I got girls that make that chick Toni Braxton look like Whoopi." What makes the track so engaging is L's own enjoyment, evident as he treats the instrumental like his own personal playground. In hindsight, the impact his flow has had on the rap game at large is extremely notable, though he might not receive the credit he rightfully deserves. Revisit Big L's "Put It On" right here, and show some love to the late lyricist in the comments below. 12. Andre Drummond's time with the Cleveland Cavaliers has been rocky, to say the least. When he went to the team last season, there were reports that he wanted to be somewhere else, although, in the end, he sucked it up and played some great basketball with the team. Now, it's clear that the Cavs are looking to rebuild and their recent trade to acquire Jarrett Allen is proof of that. In fact, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN recently reported that the team wants Allen to be the center of the future. As a result, Drummond is now on the trading market and the Cavs are doing everything possible to keep Drummond healthy during this time. As Woj explained, Drummond will no longer be playing games, as a precaution going into the trade deadline. "Whichever direction this goes, Andre is 27, in his prime, and I believe strongly that he has a great deal to add to a team building toward a postseason run," Drummond's agent Jeff Schwartz said to ESPN. The report states that no team has given a realistic offer for Drummond although with the deadline coming up on March 25th, that is certainly going to change sooner rather than later. 13. Though it might not always feel like it, there does remain a steady appetite for hip-hop history. Especially when it comes to the fallen legends who helped shape the culture, like New York's own Bigge Smalls. And while there does remain plenty of insight into the man's life and legacy, never have we received an official estate-approved documentary -- at least, until now, with the imminent release of Netflix's upcoming Biggie: I Got a Story to Tell. Adger Cowans/Getty ImagesBacked by both Voletta Wallace and Sean Combs, I Got A Story To Tell looks to be one of the most comprehensive examinations into the life of The Notorious B.I.G, which was cut tragically short on March 9th, 1997. And despite his brief tenure in the rap game, Biggie's iconic flow and relentless lyricism ensured that he'd forever remain among the game's most influential emcees, frequently celebrated as one of the greatest of all time. Now, fans can check out the extensive trailer to the upcoming Netflix doc, which features never-before-seen footage from concerts, candid moments with the rapper, and much more. In addition to the vintage clips, I Got A Story To Tell also features extensive interviews with Voletta Wallace and P Diddy, both of whom contextualize the man behind the larger-than-life persona. Between the intimate character study provided and the Netflix-ensured production value, the upcoming film appears to be essential viewing for not only Biggie fans, but hip-hop historians in general. 14. Snitching is one of those topics that will forever be debated in the world of hip-hop and beyond. In some circles, snitching is perfectly okay as some people need to do it in order to survive. Meanwhile, others believe it is the worst thing someone can do, as it hurts others while deflecting accountability away from yourself. Artists like 6ix9ine have been completely ostracized from the rap world as a result of snitching, and to this day, he is still called a "rat," even if he's embraced the moniker. Lil Uzi Vert is one of the artists who seemingly hates snitches, and in a now-deleted tweet, Uzi gave his thoughts on what will happen to all of the people out there who snitch. "So many rats nowadays god will handle em," he wrote. Following 6ix9ine's altercation with Meek Mill in Miami on Saturday night, snitches have been at the top of everyone's mind, so it's not surprising that Uzi would opt to put out such a statement right now. However, it's unknown why Uzi would delete this sentiment, even if he does have a habit of wiping away some of his more controversial takes. Stay tuned to HNHH for more news from the hip-hop world. 15. Following the announcement last week that Yelawolf and Caskey are joining for a full collaborative album titled Black Sheep, we're now slowly starting to hear what the project will sound like before the scheduled February 19th release date. Following the first single, "Been A Problem," which was released last week, we now have another one that comes with a music video and a feature by Three 6 Mafia legend, DJ Paul. Image: Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images for G-Shock"Open" is a bit explicit in nature, with all three musicians involved going in about how "open" they can have a girl after, well, you know! 16. Kendall Jenner and Devin Booker have seemingly been in a relationship for a while now, as the hints have been all over social media. Booker has been found thirsting over Jenner in her Instagram comments section, while reports have surfaced of the two spending time together on vacation. Despite all of this, the two had yet to make perhaps the biggest step in their relationship. That's right, going Instagram official. At this point, publicizing your relationship on social media is a rite of passage for anyone, regardless of whether or not you are famous. Well, on Sunday, Booker and Jenner decided to take that harrowing next step as they posted each other on their respective Instagram stories. Jenner for instance, displayed a photo of herself cuddling with Booker, as she sported a big smile on her face. Image via InstagramThere was no better day to do this than yesterday, as it was Valentine's Day. It felt like every single person in a relationship was posting their significant other on Sunday, so it's not surprising that the new couple decided to join in on the fun, and give fans a glimpse into their flourishing relationship. Both Jenner and Booker have busy schedules, and with the NBA season ramping up, it's going to be harder to see each other. Hopefully, they will be able to figure out what works best for them, to keep the union going strong. 17. DMX is officially gearing up to bless the game with his ninth studio album, his first since 2015's Redemption Of The Beast. And while information surrounding the anticipated comeback project are relatively scarce, X recently opened up about some key details during an epic appearance on NORE's Drink Champs podcast. Noam Galai/Getty ImagesAfter confirming that he was returning to Def Jam for his new album, DMX reveals that he only has two more songs to complete before the album wraps up. And while a clip NORE shared confirmed that both Griselda and Pop Smoke would be featured on the project, the full interview also reveals a couple of additional names involved. "I got Lil Wayne, I got Snoop," he confirms, unsurprising given their chemistry in the legendary Verzuz dogfight. "I got The LOX. I got Bono -- the U2 n***a." When asked how the Bono collaboration came to manifest, X explains that Swizz Beatz was the one who brought them together. "Swizz is the magician," praises X. On that note, Swizzy's wife Alicia Keys is also set to appear on the project, as is Usher. It should be noted that X appears particularly excited about the Usher collab, turning to his team and asking if he's allowed to play a snippet. "It's called 'Letter To My Son,'" explains X. "When I first did it, the only issue was the piano. Then my man, Ryan King Joseph, he play the violin. It was just piano on the song, and I never did a song with one instrument before. It came out crazy, it hits you. And then I heard [Joseph's] work, and put him on the joint. The Bono joint is 'Skyscrapers.' Shit's crazy. It got a Miami feel to it. I feel like I want to shoot the video here!" He closes the hype session by marveling at Bono's bridge -- "all muthafuckas need to do is listen to it, and we good." Check out the full interview below, and keep an eye out for more news on DMX's upcoming album -- all things considered, it's shaping up to be one of the more exciting projects set to release this year. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/realhotnewhiphop/~4/3WAGwFpMSfcView the full article
  18. The recent Meek Mill vs Tekashi 6ix9ine "altercation" — using quotations because no blows were thrown, and they were mainly just recording each other! — proved to be the latest in a series of viral-yet-unnecessary beefs in the world of hip-hop. Many people weighted in with their opinions on the run-in, particularly West Coast OG and social media personality Wack 100 who said that "the rat's up one" in reference to the fact that Meek didn't lay hands on a police informant like Tekashi. Well, Meek had something to say in response to that. Oh, and Wack had something to say back to Meek, too! Image: Bob Levey/Getty ImagesFirst, there was the initial video that Wack 100 posted. Ranting for nearly nine minutes, the self-proclaimed "GodFather" goes in on Meek for being within inches of 6ix9ine the other night and doing nothing more than chatting loudly and pulling out his phone. Peep the video below, which Wack captioned with, "IF YOUR WORRIED ABOUT THE CONSIQUENCE OF A BEEF STOP BEEFING [sic]." He also added on with,"@safaree was chased down right #SelectivePoliticing -I keep it real. If any man I gotta issue with approached me in a threatening way you will be attacked. Your team against mine if that’s the set up. Either way it’s suppose to be smoke. #RattsUp1 – Fact YOU GOT PULLED UP ON —— DONT GRAB THE CAMERA BALL YA FIST UP OR GRAB THE PEACE MAKER —- [sic]." Then Meek had this to say on IG, accompanied by a video which appeared to be a recording of Wack 100 talking greasy about one of his friends. Meek later deleted it: This is @wack100 talking behind his “blood homie” back to me when he supposed to be smoke! Never believe this old manipulator. He really pusssy and will have you crash to protect hisself… It’s sad you out here tryna mislead the youngins on the net… You run up on me if you wanna set a example! You biting your homie back out to opps while it’s on, LOL. You were excited from that Nip situation IDK how they let you rock in LA… I think you a Fed also! Didn’t you just get shot off the net? LOL #Wack100Exposed I love going at you fake bullies…” Not to be outdone, Wack posted another video of Meek's infamous run-in with Safaree. He captioned it by writing "Selective Politicking," to which Meek commented on the post by saying, "If you jealous of me and want it wit me... we could of did that in person easily! You know how I rock." The latest so far has been Wack reposting a video from someone that goes by Jordan Tower, which questions whether or not Meek is doing all of this for street cred and clout. Wack wrote in the caption, "#MEEKWASHINGTON THE ACTOR #JordanTower don’t know you but your on point with this one . We wanna know why you folded - It’s one thing to have a phobia for rats but this one doesn’t have a tail —- 1- 0" As we try to keep up with the whole ordeal, let us know down in the comments what you think of this back and forth between Wack 100 and Meek Mill: http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/realhotnewhiphop/~4/ScSiZPH2w7AView the full article
  19. Drake is a man that has been hard at work as of late due to the fact that he has an album coming out in the near future. Certified Lover Boy has been teased for months at this point and many fans expected it to come out in January. Due to his ACL surgery, Drake had to delay the release of the album, although he's been in the studio quite a bit recently, which should be all the confirmation you need to understand that an album is imminent. Part of Drake's rollout for the album has been etching a heart into his head, which definitely fits with the vibe of the album title. It just so happens that this title also works well with Valentine's Day, which took place on Sunday. While Drake seemingly didn't have a Valentine to celebrate with, he opted to go for a more lowkey approach, taking some mirror selfies that showcase his new hair. If one of the biggest artists in the world is seemingly spending the day alone, then all of the single people out there shouldn't feel too bad about their lack of a Valentine. Considering Drake has always rapped about his love life, we're sure Certified Lover Boy will offer plenty of insights into Drake's personal life, leading to a plethora of IG captions using his lyrics. 20. While Eminem is as much a rap legend as anyone, he is among the few that frequently gives flowers to his own formative influences -- many of whom hail from a rap era long forgotten by today's modern listener. Yet Em has made a point of highlighting the voices that shaped the culture, whether sporting classic rap t-shirts, amassing a gargantuan collection of hip-hop cassette tapes, or simply name-dropping his hip-hop heroes in his own music. Sal Idriss/Redferns/Getty ImagesIt's gotten to the point where many of those very same legends have begun to take notice. Treach of Naughty By Nature recently reached out to Eminem, inviting him to executive produce his first solo album on Shady Records. Rakim also connected with Eminem, a meeting of the minds that instantly sparked collaboration speculation. And most recently, Eminem and Big Daddy Kane were seen connecting in the studio, furthering the narrative that Em has been steadily working on some new music with some of the game's most respected OGs. Ian Dickson/Redferns/Getty ImagesKane shared an image of the link-up on his Instagram page, sharing a few words on what went down. "Chopping it up tonight with this great lyricist @eminem," he captions. "We spread a lot of love in this convo." Though there's no indication that actual music was manifested, though it's certainly feeling like something is going down on Eminem's side of things. Either way, it's refreshing to see a pair of elite lyricists chopping it up as equals, a reminder that those who shaped culture's history continue to impact the game in unexpected ways. Keep an eye out for further news on Eminem and Big Daddy Kane's potential development. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/realhotnewhiphop/~4/TKDC63ZVkM4View the full article
  21. Former NFL star Adam "Pacman" Jones was arrested during the early hours of Monday morning in Hamilton County, Ohio, after allegedly beating someone unconscious, according to TMZ. The former Bengal was charged with misdemeanor assault, and as it stands, not all of the details surrounding the alleged incident have been made available. However, current court documents suggest that Jones allegedly kicked and punched someone in the head, which led to them going unconscious. As a result of this arrest, Jones will now have to face a judge on Monday, where his case will have to be processed, leading to a lengthy judicial process. Christian Petersen/Getty ImagesJones has been in the news for violent actions in the past, as back in 2019, Jones spent 10 days in jail for threatening police after being accused of cheating at a casino. Meanwhile, there was also a 2018 incident in which Jones knocked someone out at the airport, although that incident never led to any arrests. Over the coming weeks, more details surrounding this case will be surfacing, so keep it locked to HNHH as we will be sure to bring you all of the latest updates. 22. Michael Jordan is one of the richest former athletes on the entire planet and over the last few decades, he has been using his money for good. Jordan has had a particular interest in the healthcare sector, where he has sought to bring medical care to those who don't have proper insurance. For instance, Jordan partnered up with Novant Health back in 2017 to open two clinics in North Carolina, and so far, these clinics have been a massive success. Now, Jordan is teaming up with Novant Health again, this time to open up two clinics in Wilmington, North Carolina. According to TMZ, Jordan is donating $10 million to make this happen, and Novant Health is saying that these efforts will offer "comprehensive primary care, including behavioral health and social support services, to the area’s most vulnerable communities." Streeter Lecka/Getty ImagesJordan himself commented on the contribution, saying "Everyone should have access to quality health care, no matter where they live, or whether or not they have insurance. Wilmington holds a special place in my heart and it’s truly gratifying to be able to give back to the community that supported me throughout my life." This charitable donation will go a long way to saving people's lives, and you can't help but praise MJ for all that he is doing here. With the pandemic raging on, these efforts are more important than ever before. Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images[Via] http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/realhotnewhiphop/~4/Ja38N1_HMDMView the full article
  23. Shooting an airball at the free-throw line could very well be one of the most embarrassing things you can do in sports. When someone is at the free-throw line, all of the attention is on them. The shooter is forced to stand at the line, uncontested as if they are on an island. The crowd is either cheering you or jeering you, and depending on how much time is left in the game, these shots can be packed with pressure. As a result, any potential airball is looked at as the ultimate failure. On Sunday, Russell Westbrook experienced this embarrassment first hand as he threw up an airball against the Boston Celtics. Westbrook's reaction to the airball is what truly made the play, as he couldn't help but stare down the net and look over in disbelief. Simply put, Westbrook had no idea what had just happened. Westbrook has always been scrutinized for his shooting ability, which certainly compounds what had happened here. Not to mention, the Wizards have struggled all season, and these kinds of plays can be an amalgamation of what's gone on all season. Luckily for Westbrook and company, the team actually won last night, which certainly softens the blow of the airball. Moving forward, we're sure Westbrook will be getting some reps in at the line, so this never happens again. 24. Hip-hop nearly woke up to another tragedy this morning, as CyHi The Prynce nearly lost his life in a shooting on Sunday, February 14th. While details surrounding the incident are as-of-yet scarce, CyHi took to Instagram to detail his perspective in a lengthy reflection. "Today is a day about love, but in my city (the city of Atlanta) there’s no love here anymore," he begins, sharing an image of the aftermath which left his vehicle totaled. "A couple nights ago there was an attempt on my life... somebody tried to gun me down on the highway. tried everything I could do to lose them, but they were adament about taking me off this earth. They where shooting at me while I was driving and even after my car flipped, hit a pole and crashed into a tree, they came back and shot the car up some more." Prince Williams/WireImage/Getty Images"At this point I don’t know if it was a mistaken identity, a robbery, or associated with something that I did when I was younger but I haven’t been in the streets in over a decade," he continues, attempting to understand what ultimately led to the potentially fatal predicament. "I just want to know why and if there is anything I can do to fix the issue. I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA, and I have tremendous love for my city ... but it’s chaotic out here. I’m trying my best to keep a level head, but when you dont know who is after you its hard to wrap your mind around it and not be paranoid." "I just want to let the people know who were trying to kill me that i am not a bad person," he explains. "I don’t want revenge, I just want understanding and closure." He also implores the leaders in his city to step up and arrange for a "peace meeting," as there are too many "lives being lost over music...So much love to every artist, label, hustler, and crew in my city pleaseee lets resolve our problems man. We don’t have to kill each other man. SMH thanks again, Atlanta. I wrote this letter to y’all with tears in my eyes." Many artists and hip-hop personalities hit CyHi's comments with support, including Big Sean, Joell Ortiz, Swizz Beatz, Benny The Butcher, Ebro Darden, and more. While it's clear that The Prynce is understandably shaken by the disturbing incident, we can only express our gratitude that he did not lose his life, and wish him the best on his road to recovery. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/realhotnewhiphop/~4/LGJgCeH4xiAView the full article
  25. Anthony Davis and LeBron James have been one of the best duos in the NBA over the past two years, and when one of them is injured, the other needs to pick up all of the slack. Recently, AD has been dealing with an Achilles injury, and LeBron has completely taken over the Lakers. On Sunday, however, LeBron got some help back as AD was back in the lineup. Unfortunately for the Lakers, Davis reaggravated his Achilles against the Nuggets, as he was being defended by Nikola Jokic. While the injury doesn't seem to be major, many are worried that this could derail Davis' season. After the game, LeBron was asked about the injury, to which he noted he was certainly concerned. "Just overall safety and health of him," James said per ESPN. "That's my only concern watching him shuffle off the floor and get back into the locker room. We were playing some great basketball up until then." Today, Davis will receive an MRI on his Achilles, and by all accounts, it is only expected to be a minor strain. The results should be back shortly, so keep it locked to HNHH as we will be sure to bring you the latest information.
