  1. Love & Hip-Hop star Moniece Slaughter recently commented on Dr. Dre's alleged relationship with Apryl Jones, claiming that they had been together "for a while". She also spoke on the countless abuse allegations that have been made against the mega-producer throughout his career, stating that she never wanted to believe them but, after a couple of phone calls this week, she's convinced that Dr. Dre is "a woman beater". It appears as though the music legend's camp has been fighting back against Slaughter's claims behind-the-scenes because, on Tuesday night, the celebrity issued a lengthy statement about how she will no longer speak up after receiving threats. "As a woman, in a time where we're told we should be valued, exalted, and protected, I've been conflicted as to how I was going to proceed, or address last night’s chain of events," wrote the singer on Instagram. "Torn between allowing men to intimidate or bully me into being silent, or to speak up for myself and stand firm in my position. Torn between acquiescing to my friend’s and family’s pleas to not speak up or defend myself, or to ignore them as well, and still stand firm in my position." Mike Coppola/Getty ImagesShe went on to say that she and her son's lives were being threatened by a powerful man over her recent comments. "Upon waking up today I was told that my life, along with my son’s life, and my family’s lives were in danger. That I was dealing with a very powerful man, and that I needed to be quiet, to disappear from social media, and even think about taking a vacation to 'clear my mind'," she added. "I will not be accepting any media or interview requests or inquiries. I will continue to live my life as I do on a day to day basis. I will continue to care for my son. I will continue to sing and make music. I will continue to be happy. I will continue to do any and all things that contribute to my happiness and success." http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/realhotnewhiphop/~4/FPnS7Mhb_M0View the full article
  2. Easing into motherhood has become Yaya Mayweather's favorite thing as she has been giving the world sneak peeks of her baby boy. It was just last month when Yaya and NBA YoungBoy welcomed Kentrell Jr. into the world, and since that time, the daughter of boxing champion Floyd Mayweather has been busy keeping up with her newborn. Yaya has posted various clips of her father doting on his grandchild and Floyd has even stated that he won't show the little one's face for some time. We'll have to wait and see what Yaya thinks of that but in the meantime, she went on Instagram Live to show what her daily life has been like. In a brief moment captured by a viewer, Yaya is seen holding her baby boy. In a video she shared to her Instagram Story, Yaya stated that she was happy to show off her natural hair and on Live, she is seen with her massive blowout as she coddles her son. Once she puts him down to check her phone, Junior can be heard crying for his mother in the background. Fans who keep up with YoungBoy and Yaya have been hanging on every update from the two young stars while the status of their romance remains unclear. It seems that YoungBoy has a girlfriend and has moved on despite also welcoming a child with Drea Symone back in November. Check out Yaya's posts and a few other highlights from Baby Kentrell Jr. below. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/realhotnewhiphop/~4/VANDWnHLAvIView the full article
  3. The YBN crew came up together, but it didn't take long for their careers to navigate in differing directions. YBN Almighty Jay, YBN Nahmir, and Cordae (who dropped his YBN tag) were once a united trio leading the pack but in August 2020, Nahmir revealed that the YBN crew was no more. He shared that Jay and Cordae no longer associated with him and when Cordae switched up his moniker, fans were sure that the three rappers were at odds. Paras Griffin / Stringer / Getty ImagesHowever, Nahmir recently caught up with No Jumper and explained that while things may have not gone in the direction that he hoped, he's still friends with his fellow rappers. "It be hella sh*t in the background but at the end of the day, we all brothers," said Nahmir. "We all gon' say somethin' that's gon' f*ck up the image of this sh*t. We all gon' f*ck around and do something that f*ck up the image of this sh*t. It's always gon' be somethin' with a group... I f*cked up by sayin' that sh*t, too. I know that hurt they feelings by saying that." He went on to exaplin that there were "emotions going on" because the crew wasn't spending time with each other as they each were wrapped up in their own lives. "You never know, they can lash out me. They lashed out on me before," Nahmir said. "I lashed out on them before so it's like...it is what it is." "But the old n*ggas in the background, you gotta remember, it's always somebody that'll come around and fill your head up and f*ck it over," he added. "That's what happened. It'll be old people or somebody else that'll tell you you better than them, they don't give a f*ck about you, all that sh*t. And that filled up all our heads. Not just me, not just Jay, not Cordae, but other YBN members, too." Check out his interview in full below where he also spoke about feeling like older people in the industry took advantage of them because they were teens hoping for their moment. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/realhotnewhiphop/~4/MEIqUZHrNOIView the full article
  4. Danity Kane star Dawn Richard is preparing for the release of a new album and to launch its roll-out, she has shared her latest single, "Bussifame." The singer was catapulted into stardom back in the early 2000s when she, along with several others, auditioned for Diddy's Making The Bandon MTV. She won a spot in Danity Kane along with four others, and since that time, she's worked not only with the group but as a pop-electro-R&B solo artist. On April 30, Dawn will release her album Second Line: An Electro Revival, and she explained the meaning behind her new track and its accompanying video that highlights The Big Easy. “The definition of a second line in New Orleans is a celebration of someone’s homecoming," said the singer. "In death and in life, we celebrate the impact of a person’s legacy through dance and music. I’m celebrating the death of old views in the industry. The death of boxes and limits. I’m celebrating the homecoming of the Future. The homecoming to the new wave of artists. The emergence of all the King Creoles to come. This is our revival.” Stream "Bussifame" and let us know what you think. 5. The internet can be a difficult place, especially for celebrities who choose to live their lives out loud. Tory Lanez is a prominent figure who has amassed fame and respect among his peers and beyond, but the shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion caused him to become a polarizing figure. The Canadian artist may be a beast when it comes to creating music, but as much as his fans have stood by his side, his detractors use any opportunities they get to crack jokes at his expense. Alberto E. Rodriguez / Staff / Getty ImagesRecently, a video of Tory Lanez playing basketball surfaced online, and on Tuesday (February 16), a screenshot of the clip went viral. It showed a bald spot at the top of Tory's head and soon, the internet was flooded with memes. Tory has been trending on social media as posts and comments continue to increase—and the public isn't letting up anytime soon. In the past, Lanez has often taken the teasing a prodding in stride, so we're assuming that's what he'll do in this case. We've collected a few reactions to Tory's viral photo below, so check them out and share your thoughts. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/realhotnewhiphop/~4/eQmuuW1prwgView the full article
  6. Each B. Simone scandal proves that the social media star just can't catch a break. B. Simone has been at the center of a handful of controversies ever since she first came forward with her DaBaby obsession back in 2019. It isn't believed that the two dated, but they did capitalize off of the attention by making appearances together. It was all in good fun and later, the comedian promoted her manifesting journal, a business move that would end in Simone handing out apologies after writers came forward with accusations that her book plagiarized their content. When B. Simone told the public that she didn't want to date a man with a nine-to-five job, she faced the wrath of the public again—and most recently, she gave women something to think about after uploading a video where she told them that they shouldn't be manifesting love with the man of their dreams if their lifestyles aren't at the same level as their standards. Soon, B. Simone once again became a trending topic and faced a new set of accusers. According to at least two women, B. Simone took their ideas of listing off the type of man that women want while stating that the women aren't giving those same requirements. They shared videos and social media posts they made in the past and accused B. Simone of stealing their "list" idea. Paras Griffin / Stringer / Getty ImagesDuring an Instagram Live session, B. Simone seemed to address the allegations while joking that the first person to make a list was Moses with the Ten Commandments. "List? I got a list of errands I gotta run tomorrow," she said. "I don't cook but I'm sure if I did, I would have a grocery list. I got a list of people on my blocked list. I got a list of people I got to email back. Who was the first person to make a list? 'Cause it wasn't none of us." Swipe below to watch the clip from B. Simone's Live as well as read through her accusers' posts. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/realhotnewhiphop/~4/3DGkjo7MjA4View the full article
  7. Those Savage x Fenty shoots have already caused millions to thirst over her frame, but Kehlani recently kicked things up a notch by posing for Playboy. The Bay Area beauty is the latest cover model for the famed, long-running magazine, and her glittery gold set has amassed a variety of reactions from her adoring public. Inside, the 25-year-old songbird sat down to answer 20 questions about her life, career, and creative process, so check out a few highlights, and sexy shots, from her Playboy feature. Kehlani spoke about her last album, It Was Good Until It Wasn't, and during the discussion, Playboy wanted to know what her thoughts were on being considered a sex symbol. Motherhood is often poised at the opposite side of sex appeal, but Kehlani revealed that "being a mom is the sexiest thing ever." She added, "I was this quirky little person before—not super in touch with myself, a super tomboy. Then I became a mom, and all of a sudden I got these mom hips. I got this mom sensuality and grown-woman attitude and in-touch-ness with my body that I never had before... I think motherhood has made me this insane sex symbol even to myself." "I feel the sexiest when I’m really bare—when I’m taking extra time to oil up after my bath and put essential oils into my shea butter," said Kehlani. "For me, sexy is very internal. It’s in the comfort and the feeling—not when do I look most sexy, but when do I feel scrumptious? When do I feel like, 'Oh, somebody could just come lick me from my head to my toe right now. That’s how f*cking good I smell, and that’s how moisturized I am.' That’s when I feel sexy." There are plenty of people who were excited about this. Check out a few shots from Kehlani's spread below. 8. As many pro-Trump supporters slowly come to terms with the fact that Joe Biden is president of the United States, some conspiracy theorists are still awaiting a mysterious date in March when they are convinced Donald Trump will be made the 19th president of America. As they count down to their big day, a man named Fred Eshelman is having regrets. He'd previously donated $2.5 million to a Texas-based group called True the Vote, described by CNN as a "conservative nonprofit" that was determined to uncover voter fraud in the November 2020 election. Spencer Platt / Staff / Getty ImagesThe world witnessed as Donald Trump led efforts to alter the results of the election as he repeatedly came forward with accusations of voter fraud. He demanded recounts in certain counties and later, phone conversations Trump had with politicians were leaked when Trump urged them to find a certain amount of votes. Eshelman supported the former president's "Stop The Steal" efforts, but now, he wants his money back. The Washington Post first reported on Eshelman's case and stated that True the Vote was able to issue lawsuits and other efforts to help Trump regain his office, but ultimately, there wasn't ever any real movement and President Biden took office. True the Vote dwindled away, lawsuits were plainly abandoned, and people moved on, but after the organization told Eshelman that they could only return $1 million of his donation, he sued them. Rey Del Rio / Stringer / Getty ImagesTrue the Vote's attorneys claim that when Eshelman dropped off his hefty donation, there weren't any specifics put in place to determine how it was spent. At the time of this publication, Eshelman hasn't had any of his money returned and shared with the Post that he still believes there was some misconduct associated with the presidential election. Do you think he should get his money back or is he out of luck? [via][via] http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/realhotnewhiphop/~4/eWUooSydjTgView the full article
  9. There are few artists in the Rap and Hip hop arena that have had an impact like that of CeeLo Green. The Goodie Mob and Gnarls Barkley artist's style has made headlines for decades as he often captures attention for wearing full-on gold 'fits on the red carpet or wedding dresses for artistic purposes. CeeLo has faced both praise and criticism over the years, and in a recent interview, he addressed the controversies over his choices. Frazer Harrison / Staff / Getty Images"Sometimes you have to do something exceptional to say that you are," said the rapper. "I felt like I could get away with it and I did. To me, that's when the game is worth watching. I told you I was all about being anti-establishment. I wanna push the f*ckin' envelope off the table." He explains that at the time, Gnarls Barkley had an album titled The Odd Couple (2008), so he and DJ Danger Mouse decided to pose in wedding attire. CeeLo added that in the alternative rock scene, a man in a dress isn't a big deal, but in Rap and Hip Hop, acceptance isn't as prevalent. He admitted that he didn't receive as much backlash as he expected because where he's from, he's respected and people chose to defend him rather than allow the negativity to spread. "I feel like I failed because they felt like when [Young Thug] and them did it, they were the first ones to do it," said the rapper. "That's how much people missed out on me doing it first." Overall, CeeLo isn't overly concerned with the opinions of others. "If I don't give f*ck about your opinion what make think I give a f*ck you?" 10. Those new teeth were on full display as NBA YoungBoy spent some time with fans while on Instagram Live. The busy father of seven (or eight, depending on who you ask) kids has been regularly releasing new music, but he took some time to escape from the studio to share a few thoughts while streaming with thousands of his admirers. YoungBoy listened to some music, rapped a few songs, and showed off his new bright, grill-less smile. Erika Goldring / Contributor / Getty ImagesDuring the session, YoungBoy had a few words for people who he believes are plotting against him in the shadows. "It's all good. They can d*ck ride...they can clique up all they want," said the rapper. "B*tch, you better not get caught out of bounds." Of course, people have been trying to pinpoint exactly who and what YoungBoy was talking about, but it seems that he wasn't referencing any beef in particular. Still, fans have been at it online. Just yesterday (February 15), an interview with Fredo Bang surfaced after the rapper denied that he had any tension with his fellow Baton Rouge artist. The two were pinned against one another in 2019 and 2020, but Fredo came forward to say that he wishes YoungBoy nothing but the best. 12. In recent months, we've watched as artists like Casanova, Silento, DaBaby, Yella Beezy, and YFN Lucci be taken into custody, and according to news out of Canada, a Toronto rapper has found himself on the wrong side of the law, as well. According to CBC News, 22-year-old Top5, real name Hassan Ali, was arrested and charged with "two counts of failure to comply with probation," "three counts of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of drug trafficking," and "possessing items valued at over $5,000 that were obtained by crime." On January 31, 20-year-old "humble, kind, and hardworking" Hashim Omar Hashi, as described by his relatives, was shot and killed inside of his vehicle while entering a parking garage on his way home. When police responded to the scene, they found Hashi suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. According to authorities, Hashi wasn't involved with any nefarious characters or gang activity. Another man, 24-year-old Emmanuel Missah, was also arrested and charged with "accessory after the fact" and "failure to comply with a recognizance order." It's unclear who police believe was the triggerman in this case. Ali reportedly appeared in court today (February 16) while Missah is scheduled to return to court on March 1. 14. This weekend marked a major milestone for two massive albums: 2Pac's All Eyez On Me and The Fugees' The Score. Both albums have cemented legendary status with the latter being the final project we'd ever receive from The Fugees. Still, even after their disbandment, they went on to deliver some solo efforts that have been equally influential in hip-hop's trajectory. Ian Gavan/Getty ImagesLauryn Hill's The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill is often considered to be one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time. It's also the only solo album we've ever received from Ms. Lauryn Hill, as well. It was a critical smash that, in 2015, was included in the Library of Congress in the National Recording Registry. Beyond the critical acclaim it received, it became one of the highest-selling albums of all time, of any genre. It's also the highest-selling neo-soul album to date. Earlier today, the RIAA took to Twitter where they announced that Lauryn Hill's The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill had officially gone Diamond, a rare feat for any artist regardless of genre. Hill is officially in the diamond club after the album went 10x platinum. "Welcome to the RIAA Diamond Club @MsLaurynHill! #TheMiseducationofLaurynHill is now a [diamond] (10X) certified album," the tweet reads. Congratulations to Lauryn Hill on the massive milestone! 15. Last May, Amy Cooper became a global trending topic after she was captured on camera harassing a man, Christian Cooper (no relation), who was out birdwatching in Central Park. Because unleashed pets can pose a problem for wildlife in the area, Christian asked Amy, who was out walking her dog, to place her pup on a leash. She refused and not only became irate with Christian but called the police and faked distress as she told dispatch that she was being threatened by a Black man in the park. This occurred during the thick of the Black Lives Matter protests last year, causing the public to attack Amy for potentially someone's life in danger with the police just because she didn't want to leash her animal. Soon, she was fired from her job, her dog was taken back to the adoption agency she received it from, and Amy was bombarded with death threats. Christian Cooper even came to her defense to call off the vicious backlash and Amy was hit with a charge of falsifying a police report in the third degree. On Tuesday (February 16), multiple reports surfaced stating that Amy Cooper would not be prosecuted because the charges against her were dismissed. According to the New York Post, a judge tossed the case after Amy completed five therapy sessions at the Critical Therapy Center in Manhattan “designed for introspection and progress," claimed Assistant District Attorney Joan Illuzzi-Orbon. It was previously reported that Christian refused to cooperate with prosecutors following Amy's public ridicule. “Psychoeducation about racial equity is woven into each therapy session to prompt understanding and reflection,” Illuzzi-Orbon said. “Ms. Cooper’s therapist reported that it was a moving experience and that Ms. Cooper learned a lot in their sessions together." Many have complained that Amy Cooper's case is an example of White privilege. Check out a few reactions below. We've posted about celebrities who went all out for their significant others for Valentine's Day as they were seen renting aquariums, covering hotel rooms in roses, and taking luxury family vacations. The "it must be nice" lifestyle was on full display as partners catered to one another with lavish gifts, but DaBaby shared that he spent the day with his mini-me: his daughter Serenity Kirk. 18. Jordan Peele's directorial debut with Get Out was a smash. The humor in the film showcased his comedic background but overall, it's messaging and plot turned it into one of the most important horror films of the past decade. Since then, Peele has continued to take on directorial duties with films like Us while building up the hype for the upcoming Candyman remake. Rich Fury/Getty ImagesJordan Peele is already working on a third film which he will be directing that has yet to be titled. Though information is limited on this mystery project, it was confirmed that Keke Palmer was officially tapped for the starring role in the film. The upcoming project will be part of the five-year deal between Monkeypaw and Universal. Daniel Kaluuya, who starred in Get Out, is reportedly in talks to join the case as well. This would reunite Peele and Kaluuya for the first time since Get Out. Earlier reports stated Jesse Plemons would be joining the cast, though Collider has confirmed that is not the case. Apparently, there's a scheduling conflict. Sources say that Keke Palmer, who appeared on Key & Peele in 2013, will be playing the role of the antagonist in Peele's upcoming movie. 19. A debate has been launched on social media and this time it comes courtesy of Plies. The Florida rapper often takes to his Instagram and Twitter accounts to share his thoughts on all things related to pop culture and politics, and on Tuesday (February 16), Plies spoke on the need for women to get themselves together mentally before focusing on enhancing their physical traits. "U Can Fix Your Ass, Your Titties, Your Teeth, Your Stomach, Your Waist, Your Eye Lashes, Your Nails, Your Toes, Your Hair, Your Nose Etc Etc. But If Yo Mind Still F*cked Up You’ll Never Be Happy!!!!!" he tweeted. Soon, people began to converse about the topic as opposing sides went back and forth with their points, causing Plies to return with a video update to his post. "I had a conversation with my homegirl about ten, fifteen minutes ago. She wanna get all the surgery done, she wanna get her butt done, her chest done, her stomach flat, her waist small, her cheekbones, lips—the whole enchilada," the rapper said in the clip. "I told her do you know who you finna attract? She said, 'No.' I said, 'A ugly n*gga with some motherf*ckin' money.' A ugly n*gga with some motherf*ckin' money. That's the only people you finna attract!" Plies went on to say that an "ugly n*gga with money is the only one" who cares about body enhancements to that degree. "A handsome n*gga don't care about all this," he added. "You know who care about looks more than anybody in the world? A motherf*ckin' ugly n*gga. Ain't nobody care about looks more than a ugly motherf*cka. He know he ugly. He been ugly all his life." He clarified that he's not hating on ugly men. "Find a female that has all this done and I guarantee standing beside her will be a motherf*ckin' ugly n*gga with some motherf*ckin' money." Plies explained that when ugly men acquire money they go after the women they believe to be out of their league. He also added that most men with money are ugly, and if that's what women want, there's nothing wrong with it. 20. Fans have been eagerly demanding the release of R9. Rihanna has even been teasing the rest of us that it'll never actually arrive. She's been working, though, whether it's on this album or the Fenty empire, which has been steadily growing. Although she recently had to shut down her LVMH brand for the timebeing, she didn't leave that situation with a loss of any sort. In fact, it actually helped boost the Fenty x Savage brand into the billion-dollar club. Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty ImagesThe completion of a round of Series B funding for Savage x Fenty raised $115M, pushing the brand's worth to $1B. The $115M raised is intended to help expand the Fenty brand with retail stores and an athletic wear line. CultureBanx predicts that after the success after these past few years, the brand is on pace to lead the global lingerie market by 2025. "Following the completion of the fundraising round where L Catterton took a stake in Savage X Fenty, LVMH and Rihanna reaffirmed their ambition to concentrate on the growth and the long-term development of Fenty ecosystem focusing on cosmetics, skincare, and lingerie,” LVMH and Rihanna said in a statement to WWD. Rihanna is evidently making massive moves in the fashion industry. It's exciting to see what she may have up her sleeve in the coming year on the business side. 22. On Valentine’s Day, B. Simone took to Instagram to share some unsolicited advice on the subject of love. She quickly went viral after publicly preaching about manifesting love in 2021. In the video clip below, the social media personality shared some words of wisdom for fellow women. "We got all these things we want in a man," she began saying. "He gotta be tall, he gotta be dark, he gotta be handsome, he gotta have pretty teeth, he gotta be a family man, he gotta be financially stable, he gotta be rich, he gotta be successful. He gotta be all these things and we ain't even have the things on that list. He gotta be a family man. B***h, you ain't talked to yo mama in six months but you want him to be a family man." Simone basically listed a bunch of qualities that women tend to look for in a man, but alleged that women often don’t have these qualities themselves. Shortly after posting this video, fans were quick to point out Simone’s offensive language toward women, in particular when she suggested that women should “Get it together.” “Get your act together! This whole list that he gotta be, you ain't even have the things on that list. So this is what I challenge you to do so we can manifest love all 2021," she continued. "Make a list of the perfect man you have in mind, and then what I did is to make a list of the type of woman he needs right by his side." She ended her video with “Let's become the person we want to attract. How about that? Huh? That's the challenge." The memes slamming Simone followed minutes after her video hit Instagram. Some started to dig deeper into the real reason she posted this video, and many people believed that Simone only said what she said because she's rumored to have a new boo, Los Angeles Raiders star Chris Smith. While others also brought up her publicly crushing over DaBaby, and even brought up the book plagiarism accusations leveled at Simone. Actor Tyrese Gibson decided to show some public support for Simone, though. "Women are pissed? calling her a fraud? But why???? Dear @thebsimone I'm going to hire you as soon as I can...... Promise #RawTruthHurts," he wrote in an Instagram comment. After Tyrese added his two cents, the haters have taken a back seat, and B. Simoone supporters have been moved to the forefront in agreement with Tyrese’s statement. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/realhotnewhiphop/~4/l4gZHqcNgVsView the full article
  23. Cardi B just hit the world with a massive karate chop, going up with her new single "Up" as it debuts at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Proving that she could follow up "WAP" with another bang, Cardi B made a big splash on the Billboard Hot 100 with her record debuting in the Top 10. Starting off at #2, "Up" becomes Cardi's ninth Top 10 record of all-time on the Hot 100, and it also makes some pretty remarkable history. According to Chart Data, the song also becomes the highest-debuting solo track by a female rapper this century on the chart, marking the first time since Lauryn Hill's "Doo Wop (That Thing)" that a woman in rap hits such a high peak right off the bat all by herself. Elsewhere on the chart, The Weeknd continues to be a strong force with two songs, "Blinding Lights" and "Save Your Tears", reaching the Top 5 of the chart. This also extends The Weeknd's record for the longest-running Top 10 single in Hot 100 history, spending 49 weeks there with "Blinding Lights". Pop Smoke's "What You Know Bout Love" hits a new peak at #10 as well, becoming the late rapper's second song to reach the Top 10. Of course, Olivia Rodrigo extends her #1 reign with "driver's license" for another week, spending five weeks total at the top spot. Congratulations to Cardi B and everyone else that charted this week! Are you feeling her new single? http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/realhotnewhiphop/~4/PA3T8MqdajcView the full article
  24. With the star-studded release of the Judas and the Black Messiah soundtrack, there has been more than enough new music for hip-hop heads to check out. From Jay-Z to Nas, G Herbo to Masego, and much more, the Hit-Boy-produced soundtrack had some of our staff's favorite songs from the last week, with more than a few cuts being added to our official Staff Picks playlist. This week's update includes some of the obvious picks from the soundtrack, including Nipsey Hussle and Jay-Z's collaboration, Nas' new song "EPMD", A$AP Rocky's "Rich N***a Problems", and more, as well as some unrelated songs that have been making up the bulk of our individual playlists. For instance, the new remix of Erica Banks' "Buss It" with Travis Scott was a popular add, and so was Lil Tjay's "Calling My Phone" with 6LACK. Lucky Daye also had two new records from his latest project get some shine, and so did JPEGMAFIA. Of course, some of our staff's favorites, Kevin Gates, Brent Faiyaz, and Headie One, all have contributions to this week's update as well. 25. It's shaping up to be a good year with both Benny The Butcher and DMX poised to deliver new projects; the former's The Plugs I Met 2 and the latter's untitled project, which was recently confirmed to feature Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Bono, Usher, Alicia Keys, Pop Smoke, and Griselda. Naturally, hip-hop heads are eagerly anticipating the release of both albums, with many curious as to how their generation-blending collaboration will play out. Now, we may very well have an idea as to what it might sound like. Johnny Nunez/WireImage/Getty ImagesBenny The Butcher recently took a moment to preview an unreleased track, one that may very well be an upcoming collaboration with DMX. We say this because DMX happened to be vibing out to the track alongside Benny (and Zoey Dollaz, who was also present), though it's entirely possible that The Butcher was simply showing his buddies a sneak preview of the upcoming Plugs 2. While that remains to be seen, we'd love to hear X spit some bars over the jazzy boom-bap instrumental -- though he'd surely have his work cut out for him keeping pace with Benny. Curiously, the beat sounds similar to one recently previewed by Royce Da 5'9, who was initially pitching it to Conway The Machine -- perhaps it somehow found its way into the Butcher's grasp. "Gave my life to this game, but what do I got," he spits. "Fathered these n***as how, I don't even know my pops / this flip phone that I got don't connect to the wifi." Should this indeed be the anticipated DMX and Benny The Butcher collaboration, it will most certainly be interesting to catch the It's Dark & Hell Is Hot legend back in his late-nineties bar-spitting bag. And if it's not -- you've gotta appreciate two elite lyricists showing mutual respect for one another's craft. Check it out for yourself below, and sound off -- do you hope this is the DMX/Griselda collab? http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/realhotnewhiphop/~4/IzRSRMNHJ5kView the full article
