  1. Total recall was just plain fun, and Starship Troopers was very good subtle social commentary and satire about patriotism and the military mentality; not too mention some great effects and action. Paul Verhoeven is one of my favorites. I don't say this often but he OWNS.
  2. I wish I could sympathize with bears, but I can't say I'd care if there were no bears at all in existence. It's not because of this mauling, but just the general fact that I just don't give a flying fuck. I feel this way about top-of-the-food-chain land predators; especially ones that are capable of killing humans. Though they may control other populations, as creatures themselves, I don't really care if they get shot. I'm not calling for a deliberate wipe out; I'm just saying screw protection. I am human and king of the earth. All is my territory. Shoot them if you want to. Nugent is still an asshole.
  3. Wonderful. It's a "who has the best fake, machine generated, repetitive" music contest.
  4. Right, but wasted sperm obviously never became a part of him. This is a very serious discussion Hunter. Try to make sure future sperm comments are correct. We can't have another incident like this because the fate of the free world is at stake.
  5. I kind of get the joke, but I have to say it doesn't make sense.

    Free Opera Reg Codes

Got the free code and installed Opera. I figure I could use it to test pages I create for cross-browser compatibility, both functionally and cosmetically.
  7. He is just about the worst president ever. Certainly the worst president during my life time.
  8. True, but giving an opinion about something like statistical data doesn't make sense.
  9. What is "reason"? Wouldn't that be imposing "morality" (as you put it in another thread about prostitution)? I only make the connection because of the apparent contradiction in logic. It seems sometimes I see people adopt a completely subjective stance or persona on an issue, and then at other times that all comes crashing down when they feel the need for setting a boundary. It's almost selective subjectivity, which is a contradiction of definitions.
  10. That's an assumption really. You don't know if it's a "small" percentage or even what "small" would mean. Small as opposed to what? World population? U.S. population? I don’t play the number game because I don’t have any reliable statistical data in front of me. I think we should steer clear of skew.
  11. Anyway Dude. Any thoughts on my response or the NYT's article?
  12. Crap. Is it Tuesday already? I think it's about time I...........ahem...............retired from, uh, the uh..., stuff...that I do.............on Tuesdays. Yeah.
  13. Perhaps in some individuals, it may amplify already existing emotions. I'm not as naive to believe that video games have no effect on the human brain. The only people who believe that, and the only people who believe video games are the cause of every behavioral problem are people with agendas..........political or social agendas not based on truth, but on advancement of their shallow cause of "saving the world" from something. The truth is it depends on the person and the situation, as well as the game in question. I would believe that the better a video game mimics real world scenery and graphics (such as the newer games) the more the content contained in them becomes ingrained in the minds of some, with various effects. For instance; I was recently with my cousin for a short time. He’s 12. We were by a large river with boats out on the water. He plays a lot of GTA and Halo. Upon seeing the boats on the water, the first thing he commented on was something to the effect of “if you had a rocket launcher you could blow the boats up from here” (also with a comment about GTA itself). Now I know he doesn’t have a rocket launcher (and could never even get remotely close to having one), and that he’ll never try to destroy someone or something for real; the bigger point is that he’s not “seeing the forest for the trees” so to speak. He’s looking out on the water and zoning to a time and place in a video game and not joining us here in the present. He plays too many video games; specifically video games that relate somewhat to reality (with things like life-like boats, water, and rocket launchers). Older games didn’t have this problem because let’s face it, when is the last time you seen a gumba? Or kicked a giant turtle shell? Or seen an Italian plumber whose arch enemy is a fire breathing dragon? Not to mention the game is in 2D and the graphics only very vaguely resemble anything real. Even games like Contra were not good at connecting with real world textures and environment. I think the “real” bad effects that can take place are a lack of attention to real surroundings and becoming obsessed with fantasy elements in a game; so much so that your time is wasted in the real world too. You may not be a serial killer, but you might become a zombie.
  14. I shot the Suge Knight, but I did not shoot the deputdreaming>..........ahhhhh what the hell? Where am I? Who are you? How did you get my number? Don't ever call here again!
  15. In order to find the reason you don't hate them now, you must identify the reason you hated them in the past.
  16. This is what you're supposed to do to the concession stand. http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail102.html Take notes.
  17. Your post gave me a brain tumor. I'm sending you the medical bill, considering the lack of national health care in the United States. hitwall
  18. The fake band featured in the BK ads seemed more upbeat with an almost 80s hair band swagger. You listen to SlipKnot when you want to kill your entire family and all their pets, not when you want chicken. I would like to sue all parties involved for eleventy billion U.S. dollars, and I'd like to file suit against GWAR for having the dumbest name ever. I will demand three U.S. dollars, which will go towards the purchase of a fork to gouge my eyes out with (which is also best done while listening to SlipKnot).
  19. Seems pretty generic to me. It just seems like 1/3 blog, 1/3 web space, and 1/3 personal/dating ads.

    FireFox

I don't know. Is the weather outside where you live below 0 degrees Celsius or above 162 degrees Celsius? I bet it's neither, but you couldn't answer my question could you? Why does Google have to be either immaculate or Satan themselves?

    FireFox

It looks like Google is backing FireFox for various reasons. I think there was a "Google browser" rumor running around, well, I think the real Google browser is actually FireFox. All in all, I could give two shits. I get no tracking cookies (I don't use the Google search box anyway; actually I remove it completely from the GUI), I always set my start page to a blank page whenever I install FireFox, and I do my searches through Google's main page anyway. Bull fucking shit. Bundling software with no opt-out is far far far far far far far far worse than what Google and FireFox are doing. I'm not a Google lunatic, but I find this article bias and full of contempt on the part of the author. He wanted to draw lots of comparisons between Google and Microsoft, couldn't do it, so he slanted his language around hand picked facts to make it seem that way. That's something Fox "News" does every 10 seconds.
  22. They're so bad, even (more than likely) Bush supporters were involved in the backlash against them. You know you need to reevaluate your life when even misguided people think you're an asshole.
  23. This is only natural. What's wrong with using Google as a search engine/translator/news source (given its diverse options)? I don't understand everyone's fear. Fear of what? While power and corruption are commonly intertwined, it doesn't really mean that Google is an "evil entity". What do you think Google is going to do to you that is so horrible that you want to try to avoid it altogether? I think you're being a little paranoid with really no specific reason except that they are too "big". I think the opposite. I think that Google is so big and has an image of being so powerful and user-friendly, yet simplistic, that it wouldn't want to jeopardize its well being as a company by doing something even remotely "bad" to its users and having it discovered and exposed. There's too much risk with very little to gain.
  24. For any Movie/TV questions concerning actors, actresses, directors, producers, release dates, etc... http://www.imdb.com probably has it.
