  1. Moments ago, Ashanti and Keyshia Cole's Verzuz came to a close, but social media is still buzzing about the event. Unfortunately, some portions of the celebration of R&B music was accelerated due to Keyshia being over an hour late, but in the end, it was still a match-up that fans were excited to witness. O.T. Genasis made an appearance during Cole's smash hit "Love," and the ladies praised one another's talents as they performed and grooved along to some of our favorite hits. During the Verzuz, Ashanti previewed her track "235 (2:35 I Want You)" before releasing the single on streaming services. It's always good to hear new music from the award-winning artist and songwriter, and even Keyshia Cole said that she loved the slow jam after hearing it on Verzuz with the rest of the world. Stream Ashanti's "235 (2:35 I Want You)" and let us know what you think. Quotable Lyrics I don't wanna FaceTime anymore, I just want you at that door And I swear Imma meet you there with nothing on I don't know if I'm wrong for saying this, wait, wait a minute, let mе think Don't wanna make a move too soon, don't wanna ruin wherе this could go View the full article
  2. As she acclimates herself into the joys of motherhood, more information about NBA YoungBoy and Yaya Mayweather's newborn has found its way to social media. Earlier today, we reported on the news that the rapper's mother revealed the new parents named their son Kentrell Gaulden Jr., and now Yaya is giving the world a sneak peek into her father, Floyd Mayweather, doting over his grandson. Allen Berezovsky / Contributor / Getty Images On Instagram, Yaya shared a photo of her father holding her son like a proud grandpa. "My [hearts]," the 19-year-old wrote over the picture. In another slide, she added, "My mom & dad just love my baby so much." The status of her relationship with NBA YoungBoy remains unclear as the couple has been hot and cold for some time. It's speculated that Yaya is one of seven of the rapper's baby mamas and it's reported that NBA YoungBoy has seven children. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, YoungBoy and Drea Symone welcomed a daughter and it's said that YoungBoy has a new girlfriend. Soon, fans may be able to gain insight into the inner workings of Yaya Mayweather's world as the new mother has recently shared a video showing that she has launched a reality series on her YouTube channel. 3. In December 2019, federal authorities searched Lil Wayne's private plane and allegedly located drugs and a firearm. A year later, Wayne pleaded guilty to the charges and was awaiting sentencing, but earlier this week, he scored a lucky break after former President Donald Trump pardoned him during his last hours in office. Charlamagne Tha God spoke about the pardons on his Brilliant Idiots and said he doesn't blame Wayne for making moves with Trump to rid himself of those legal issues. "Y'all gotta face the judge now. Y'all shoulda got in on that train early," said Charlamagne. "I'm not mad at Wayne. I don't judge people for what they do when they're just trying to survive. I think that it's very easy to say what you wouldn't do in that situation, but Lil Wayne is a multi-millionaire, he's got five kids, he's been in jail before, he's facing 10 years, this is his second gun charge. Like, c'mon." Charlamagne added that Weezy's charges weren't necessarily criminal. His co-hosts were a bit more critical as they mentioned Lil Wayne's comments about the Black Lives Matter movement and racism in America. After The Neighborhood Talk shared the clip from Charlamagne's podcast, the host jumped in the comments to further explain his thoughts on both Wayne and Kodak Black. "Didn’t neither one of them snitch to save themselves, they didn’t set anyone up to save themselves, they didn’t get anyone killed to save themselves," he wrote. "They just politicked with someone who’s politics people don’t agree with. I’m happy for a lot of folks the celebrity in chief pardoned especially non violent drug offenders who got life and astronomical numbers for weed when that shit is legal now medicinally or recreationally throughout the majority of the country." 4. He now has a bit more time on his hands as he enjoys retirement and fans of Logic have been spending time with the rapper on Twitch. Logic has been relaxing with his wife and son in these rap-less days, but that hasn't stopped him from weighing in on various aspects of the industry. Recently, Logic spoke about artists being hated, naming Drake as someone who takes hard hits from the public and critics with grace. "Would y'all argue that Drake is the most sh*t on artist in the world? I would," said the rapper. "I would say Drake is, like, without a doubt. It's not even a contest, people sh*t on Drake. Now, the thing I love about Drake, is he embraces it. Certified Lover Boy, what kind of simp sh*t is [that]!?" the rapper joked, adding that Drake is a "genius" for coming up with that title. Logic also stated that he finds it "funny" how people continue to berate the OVO mogul but Drake takes it in stride, absorbs the negativity, and remains dedicated to building his billion-dollar empire. Then, Logic mentioned the hate that J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar also receive. "How the f*ck can you hate on Kendrick?" he asked. "But these people do it and it's just so funny. It's like, you cannot be that great without being hated on." He also discussed Andre 3000 being criticized for his style, Mac Miller being dismissed, and others who have faced the gauntlet only to emerge with acclaim. Check out the clip below and let us know if you agree with Logic. View the full article
  5. It's been a rough day for DaniLeigh after an innocuous post to Instagram caused controversy. The Def Jam artist previewed new music, a single titled "Yellow Bone" that she said was for her "light skin babies," and things erupted. After defending the song and relationship with DaBaby, the singer came forward to apologize to anyone she offended. The history of colorism runs deep in the Black community in America and is prevalent in other cultures globally, so DaniLeigh faced accusations of being a colorist and insensitive. Currently, DaniLeigh is a trending topic on various social media platforms as conversations about her moment continue, and the mother of one of Future's children, Eliza Reign, has weighed in with a few thoughts. "PICKMEsha could've kept that lil song," wrote Eliza on her Instagram Story. "I try not to speak on every lil thing I see on the net, but Forreal, it's already enough division with black people. It's 2021, why people with platforms out here telling thier fans they have a preferred skin tone?" In another slide, Eliza added, "Certain things are expected from these male rappers but I'm shocked a woman still doing this in 2021." "Honestly. Anybody that's been in America more than 2 hours should know that's a touchy subject, but then again we shouldn't expect a person who isn't even black (redbone or chocolate) to understand how it's offensive," Eliza added. "Redbones are lighter toned black women by the way not Hispanic but go off mami." She also mentioned that DaniLeigh is "laid up with a dark skin man with dark skin kids from dark skin mothers." Eliza believes there are "so many other things to brag about" and said she doesn't want a man who wants her for the color of her skin. Check out her posts below. 6. The Air Jordan 1 is easily one of the most celebrated sneakers of all-time and for good reason. It's a sneaker that was first revealed to the world all the way back in 1985 and since then, it has become a cultural phenomenon with numerous different colorways and iterations. Despite being 36 years old, this is a shoe that still surprises people and in 2021, Jumpman has plans for a ton of new colorways. The latest of these colorways comes courtesy of @py_rates_ on Instagram and as you can see, it's fairly unique in the shades that it uses. For instance, the upper is covered in burgundy overlays, hence the name "Burgundy Crush." From there, we have a white base, as well as a black Nike swoosh which is something that all Air Jordan 1 fans should be familiar with. Overall, it's a great offering and we're sure fans will be lining up on release day. If you're a fan of this sneaker and you are hoping to get your hands on a pair, then you will most likely have to wait until the Holiday season as that is the expected time of release. Of course, none of this information has been confirmed by Jordan Brand, so stay tuned to HNHH as we will bring you all of the latest updates. View the full article

  8. There is an ongoing lawsuit against Soulja Boy but the rapper claims that the allegations against him are untrue. A woman states that in early 2019, she was physically and sexually assaulted by the rapper. In court documents, the woman is only referred to as Jane Doe and she states that she began working for Soulja back in December 2018. Doe alleges that the rapper began acting violently toward her the following month and in February 2019, Soulja Boy allegedly sexually assaulted her. In the lawsuit, Jane Doe also makes claims that Soulja pushed her out of a vehicle, was jealous of her social media posts and incoming phone calls, and had even locked her in a room without a mattress, food, or water. She says Soulja told her, "I should have killed you," and claims that after she was allegedly violently assaulted in August 2020, she left. When she returned to retrieve her belongings, Jane Doe states that she was once again sexually assaulted. According to TMZ, Soulja Boy's representative denies the allegations against the rapper. "Soulja would never put his hands on a female. He wouldn't beat a woman or put his hands on a woman ... this is non-sense!!!" Jane Doe is suing for "sexual battery, assault, false imprisonment, infliction of emotional distress" and damages for unpaid work. In January 2020, another woman sued Soulja Boy for sexual battery, false imprisonment, and a variety of other accusations. She alleges he beat her, tied her up, forced her to perform oral sex, and put a gun to her head. [via] View the full article
  9. After being nixed by both Amazon and the Apple Store, Parler executives have been scrambling to get the site reinstated. Following the insurrection by devoted supporters of Donald Trump immediately after a "Stop The Steal" rally headed by the former president, companies began to make strides in regulating content. Parler was reportedly an instrumental tool in radical Trump loyalists mobilizing as threats of riots, war, assaults, and even murder were shared from the platform. Hollie Adams / Stringer / Getty Images Yet, Parler believes that they are being censored on the basis of discrimination, and they have petitioned for the app to be reinstated. On Thursday (January 21), their hopes were dashed, somewhat, when a federal judge reportedly rejected Parler's bid to be reinstated to Amazon Web Services after suing the company. "The Court rejects any suggestion that the public interest favors requiring [Amazon Web Services] to host the incendiary speech that the record shows some of Parler's users have engaged in," U.S. District Judge Barbara Rothstein ruled on Thursday as she sided with Amazon. "At this stage, on the showing made thus far, neither the public interest nor the balance of equities favors granting an injunction in this case." According to NPR, the attorney for Parler claims that they've sought out six Web hosts in hopes of reactivating the site and were rejected by all. [via] View the full article
  10. Kobe Bryant was a legend on and off the court, in every sense of the word. When it came to his on-court fashion, Kobe was especially iconic thanks to his sneaker line with Nike. The Over It singer is pregnant with her first child, a bundle of joy she shares with London On Da Track, and Summer has been patiently awaiting the arrival of their firstborn together. On Instagram, it looks as if Walker had some time to reflect on gender roles and she surmised that much of the time, women may have more to handle than their male counterparts. "N*ggas really be thinking being pregnant is a walk in the park," wrote the singer on her Instagram Story. "Lol I swear n*ggas have it so easy, they ain't gotta cook clean look good or birth no babies. all they gotta do is provide and now women self sufficient af so they barley gotta do that." She added, "And they ain't got no monthly periods.. ain't really gotta worry bout getting raped or kidnapped like dame being a n*gga is so eaaaassyyy." 12. For many, Fat Joe's "What's Luv?" is an iconic song of their childhood and it is made especially strong by the likes of Ashanti, who delivers a spectacular vocal performance. Surprisingly, Fat Joe revealed earlier in 2020 that Ashanti wasn't always supposed to the one on the track. When Irv Gotti and Ja Rule first showed the track to Fat Joe, they claimed that they wanted Jennifer Lopez to replace Ashanti so that it would be a more Latino record. Fat Joe eventually argued against it, and thus a hit was born. Now, Ashanti is gearing up to go up against Keyshia Cole in what should be a spectacular Verzuz battle. While speaking to The Shade Room, Ashanti was asked about the J Lo "What's Luv?" connection and what she thought about the whole ordeal. As she explained, Ashanti believes it had a lot to do with wanting more money. "I feel like as an executive, he was probably chasing the bag more, and at that time, I wasn't even signed to Murder Inc," Ashanti said. "For him I think it was you know J Lo is just a huge huge artist. She still is. So he was probably on 'Let's get the money.'" J Lo's inclusion in the song is definitely one of those "what if" moments although we're glad it was Ashanti who got the final call. As for her Verzuz tonight, let us know who you think is going to win, in the comments below. Gonzalo Marroquin/Getty Images for Frito-Lay View the full article

  15. On Wednesday night, Playboi Carti brought his new album to Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show, performing his track “Slay3r” off of Whole Lotta Red. The 24-year-old rapper stuck to his usual aesthetic for the show, suspending himself off of a ladder inside of an empty warehouse. Carti is surrounded by hype men during the performance, all of them dressed in black clothing with oversized black sunglasses. Carti’s track pays homage to Slayer, one of the most influential metal bands ever. It makes sense that Carti would pay tribute to the group on Whole Lotta Red, as he’s essentially building off of the dark, violent aesthetic that Slayer pioneered. Carti even has the band’s name tattooed on his left hand. Even though Carti can’t currently tour Whole Lotta Red due to coronavirus concerns, he kept the same electric energy and stage presence that he would have at a live show. The album, which has been at least two years in the making, was predicted to move about 125K-135K units in its first week, taking the Billboard #1 spot from Taylor Swift. While the project initially hasn't necessarily had the greatest reception from long-waiting fans, Playboi Carti has shown that he can prove himself no matter what the critics think. Watch Playboi Carti’s full performance on The Tonight Show below. Let us know if you were a fan of Whole Lotta Red in the comments. View the full article
  16. Grammy-award winning artists Billie Eilish and Rosalía joined forces this week for sensual new track "Lo Vas A Olvidar." The track features the breathy, hauntingly beautiful vocals from both artists, singing in Spanish, which is new territory for 19-year-old Billie Eilish. Not only is this Eilish’s first single of 2021, but it is also her first-ever collaboration with Spanish singer Rosalía. The new track will be featured in an upcoming episode of HBO’s Euphoria,“Part 2: Jules,” which premieres on Friday. Billie Eilish made history in 2020 after she won five awards at the Grammys, two of which included best new song and best new artist. Ever since then she has been breaking more boundaries, earning four new nominations at the 2021 Grammys, which are set to take place on March 14th. These nominations include Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best Song Written For Visual Media. Her highly-anticipated documentary, Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry, premieres on February 26th. Rosalía doesn’t shy away from making music history, either. In 2020, she collaborated on tracks with major artists like Bad Bunny, The Weeknd, and Travis Scott. Most recently, Rosalía became the first-ever all-Spanish language music artist to be on the cover of Vogue Magazine for their January 2021 issue. Her upcoming album, R3, is one of the most highly-anticipated albums of the year and is sure to live up to her already insane legacy. Together, Billie Eilish and Rosalía are unstoppable. 17. Seth Rogen is known for dabbling in Twitter beef, and U.S. Senator Ted Cruz has now been added to his list of victims. The Pineapple Express star lit the fire by arguing with the Texas senator about American politics. Freshly sworn-in President Joe Biden issued an order to rejoin The Paris Agreement, and Cruz took to his professional Twitter to say Biden cares more about Paris’ citizens than the livelihood of Americans. Several hours later Rogen responded, “Fuck off you fascist.” Cruz did not care for Rogen’s vulgar words, and immediately responded with a dragging of his own on his personal Twitter, calling Rogen a “rich, angry Hollywood celebrity” and that those are typical characteristics of the Democratic party. The implication that Rogen is not on the side of workers or union members angered the actor further. The Knocked Up star responded again, directly, and said, “Haha get f**ked fascist. Go encourage a white supremacist insurrection again you fucking clown,” referring to the result of Cruz’s attempt to overturn Biden’s win in the presidential election, leading to the Capitol Hill riots that took place on January 6. “If you’re a white supremacist fascist who doesn’t find it offensive when someone calls your wife ugly, Ted Cruz is the exact motherfucker for you,” Rogen added, referencing Donald Trump attacking Cruz’s wife’s looks during a debate in the 2016 race. The Neighbors actor also let him know he is a member of four unions. Cruz hasn’t responded since. [via] View the full article
  18. Earlier this week, it was rumored that outgoing President Donald Trump had included Lil Wayne and Kodak Black on his lengthy list of presidential pardons. In the wee hours of Wednesday morning, Trump released the list of the people he was granting clemency, with the names of the artists included. Spawning all types of reactions across social media from fans and friends alike of the rappers, people are still thrilled about the news. Sniper Gang member went on Instagram live to praise Trump for releasing his friend Kodak, adding that the President insisted on "cutting up" one last time in office. "I f*ck with Trump, he just snapped," he began while talking to viewers on Instagram live. "N*ggas was locked up bout a million times when Obama was in that motherf*cker, Trump snapped," he said before reading a few comments of people reacting to his bold claims. "He saying trump just wanna do that now cus it's his last day in the office," the 23-year-old read while on live. He explained, "Why not, that's hard! That show yall that he snapped and he can't do certain sh*t the whole time cus y'all gone kick me out the office, ya know what I'm saying. So my last day imma cut up right quick and let all the real street n*ggas go, imma cut up one time." While lighting a blizz on the camera, he adds Trump should've freed a couple more of the homies if he was in the pardoning-mood. Kodak Black was officially released from prison on Wednesday, January 20th according to documents sourced by DJ Akademiks. View the full article
  19. Kodak Black has been the talk of social media over the last few days as it was rumored that outgoing United States President Donald Trump would be pardoning him, as well as other rappers like Lil Wayne. In the end, that is exactly what Trump did as in one fell swoop, Kodak and Wayne's Federal charges were completely wiped clean. Of course, this was huge for Wayne who was about to be sentenced for his Federal gun charge. Meanwhile, Kodak had been going through a rough patch in prison, and a commuted sentence was to be his big savior. While it was unknown when Kodak would be released from prison, it seems like it has already taken place, according to paperwork obtained from DJ Akademiks. In the image below, it states that Kodak Black, real name Bill K Kapri, was released on Wednesday, January 20th. When Kodak heard of his pardon, he took to Twitter saying "I Want To Thank The President @RealDonaldTrump For His Commitment To Justice Reform And Shortening My Sentence. I Also Want To Thank Everyone For Their Support And Love. It Means More Than You Will Ever Know. I Want To Continue Giving Back, Learning And Growing. @DanScavino." For now, however, Kodak is still dealing with a sexual assault charge in South Carolina, and authorities want him detained there until trial. This is bad news for the artist especially since this is a state-related crime, whereas Trump's pardons were for Federal offenses. Stay tuned for updates on Kodak's situation as we will be sure to bring them to you. Image via Twitter View the full article
  20. Ebro Darden has never been shy to share a hot take or two, especially when it comes to the current state of the rap game. As one of the prominent names in hip-hop media, Ebro's word carries weight, even if you might not agree with his assessments. And in the wake of this latest one, put forth earlier today on his Twitter page, it's likely that many will take issue. Especially given that the criticism seems to center around lyricists in lieu of the typical "mumble rapper." Andrew Toth/FilmMagic/Getty Images "A lot of ya’ll Rappers sound like shit because you think your lyrics are more important than the producer & engineer..." writes Ebro, though he doesn't provide examples of what he's describing -- nor whether there was a catalyst that triggered it, to begin with. From the sound of it, he's speaking strictly about the sonic quality of a given song, though that didn't stop many from sliding into his comments in a frenzied state. Especially given the expected narrative that suggests lyricism is dead, with rappers relying increasingly on beats and post-production processing effects. Of course, it should be noted that even lyrically-focused emcees should not be immune to criticism. Not to mention the fact that Ebro's take is actually solid advice for upcoming rappers, especially those who underestimate the importance of a listenable mix. Still, that hasn't stopped some from arguing his point, further evidence that hip-hop fans take their bars extremely seriously. Check out his message below, and sound off if you think he's speaking facts. View the full article

Since that time, he has been teasing his next move and has a long list of possible contenders. Paul is even moving out of Los Angeles, as he wants to focus on his boxing training so that he can become the next champion of the world. In a recent announcement, Paul revealed that he will be headlining yet another Triller card on April 17th, even if he said April 10th in the video. For now, it remains to be seen who Paul will be fighting against although we're sure the contracts are currently being worked out. Paul did reveal that Snoop Dogg will be doing commentary for the fight, which is huge news considering Snoop was a massive hit the last time around. There is a ton of hype surrounding who Paul will get to battle next and for now, many are looking toward the MMA world. In fact, Paul recently commissioned a flyover message stating that Conor McGregor is scared of him. While fighting Conor is certainly a longshot, you have to admire just how much Paul wants to sink his teeth into the biggest fighters in the world. [Via] View the full article

Yesterday, we reported that in the week marking the 3-year anniversary of Fredo Santana (January 19th), one of the artists he was working with before his death was reported to have also met an unfortunate fate as well. Although the news of Memphis rapper Baby CEO"s death had yet to be confirmed, tribute messages poured in across social media as "RIP Baby CEO" began to trend. These reports were confirmed on Wednesday when the rapper's brother confirmed his passing on his Twitter account, clarifying his death had nothing to do with organized gang violence but was actually much more sinister. The expletive-filled message tweeted Wednesday (January 20th) night, Baby CEO's brother claimed that his brother was murdered by his own friends who wanted "fame off his name." Edited for clarity, the tweet read, "Aint No Opp Kill My Brother He Got [Killed] By His Own Day 1 *igga That He Called His Brother So For You D*ck Suckn Ass Heavy Camp N*ggas That’s Tryn Get Fame Off His Name. And now, with the new generation of consoles having been launched, the upcoming Resident Evil: Village is easily one of the most anticipated games of 2021. Especially following the recent success that the Resident Evil franchise has been experiencing, thanks to a triumphant run of RE:7, as well as acclaimed remakes of RE2 and RE3. Resident Evil 8: Village -- second trailer. Today marks the official Resident Evil showcase, during which Capcon will unveil a new cinematic trailer, the first gameplay reveal, and more. Based on what we've seen so far, Village appears to take place following the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, with players once again reprising the role of Ethan Winters. Unlike its predecessor, which largely took place in a decrepit and terrifying mansion smack in the middle of the bayou, Village will switch things up entirely. Implementing elements of folklore and overtly supernatural horror, Village looks to be one of the most mysterious chapters of the series thus far -- and that's not even factoring in the rogue behavior of beloved RE hero Chris Redfield. For those interested in checking out the official showcase, which takes place today at 2:00 pm PT, 5:00 pm ET, and 10:00 pm GMT, IGN has provided a wealth of streaming options you can peep right here.
