  1. Throughout the past few years, Conway The Machine has been so prolific in his musical output that even the smallest downtime feels like an eternity. And while it's been a few months since the release of From King To A God (though he did tide us over with the recent Deluxe Edition), Conway has officially taken to Twitter to confirm that "Machine Season" is set to kick off once again. Steven Ferdman/Getty Images While many have been expecting his next project to be his Shady Records debut God Don't Make Mistakes, easily one of the most anticipated releases of the year, it would appear that The Machine has alternate plans. "Machine season continues! Dropping new album February," he confirms, making the announcement on Twitter. "GDMM comin soon too. 7xve x Skeese dropping new music as well! 20twentyDRUM!" At this point, it's not surprising to see Conway once again lining up at steady onslaught. It should be noted that the Griselda lyricist previously confirmed that a sequel to his Big Ghost LTD-produced No One Mourns The Wicked is also on the way, though it's unclear as to whether or not this upcoming February drop is something else entirely. Don't be surprised if Conway is sitting on another album -- last year alone, he dropped off three in Lulu and the aforementioned two. If the thought of some new Conway isn't enough to excite, keep in mind that he's also gearing up to release some new music from DrumWork signees 7xvethegenius and Skeese. All things considered, it's looking like 2021 will be another solid year for Conway, to whom Nas recently passed the torch -- are you looking forward to his new albums? View the full article
  2. The Weeknd is one of the greatest artists of his generation, producing too many hit records for us to count and truly embodying what it means to be a performance artist. As of late, the Toronto native has been presenting himself as the art piece, dropping a slate of ultra-creative and highly-stylized music videos, which have contributed to a phenomenal era for the 30-year-old. In many ways, it feels like this has been a year that people finally realize all of the incredible contributions that The Weeknd has made to music over his long-spanning career. Joshua Blanchard/Getty Images We're just over a week removed from Abel's historic Super Bowl Halftime performance in Tampa Bay and the artist is taking a pretty stealthy step to get his fans prepared. On his webshop, he has started selling a new album called The Highlights, which includes eighteen of his greatest hits. The album is only available in physical form for now. At that, it's only offered as an explicit or clean CD. It includes songs from this current era, including "Save Your Tears", "Blinding Lights", and more, as well as some of our favorites from his earlier days, like "Often", "Wicked Games" and more. Only three artists are featured on the album, including Daft Punk (twice), Kendrick Lamar, and Ariana Grande. According to Hip Hop N More, his official website appears to be the only place to purchase this CD. It will ship within 2-3 weeks. Perhaps this gives fans a clue into what we can expect for The Weeknd's highly-anticipated performance on February 7. Will you be watching him take the stage at the Super Bowl? TRACKLIST: 1. SAVE YOUR TEARS 2. BLINDING LIGHTS 3. IN YOUR EYES 4. CAN’T FEEL MY FACE 5. I FEEL IT COMING FT. DAFT PUNK 6. STARBOY FT. DAFT PUNK 7. PRAY FOR ME FT. KENDRICK LAMAR 8. HEARTLESS 9. OFTEN 10. 3. It's clear that Funkmaster Flex has been harboring resentment toward Jay-Z, Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, and by extension, the entire Roc Nation brand. Casting aspersions against Jay-Z's character at every turn, deeming him to be the "most sensitive motherfuck*r on the planet," Flex upped the ante by vowing to air out both the Jigga Man and Perez during his Hot 97 show last night. Despite many feeling like some bears are better left un-poked, Flex appeared unwaveringly adamant about his crusade -- at least, until it came time to hit the airwaves. Johnny Nunez/WireImage/Getty Images Despite having drummed up a rollout of sorts, Flex opted to keep things relatively low-key, abstaining from any pointed accusations. He does argue that many prominent New York media voices, be it Elliot Wilson, Ebro Darden, or Charlamagne Tha God, will never speak ill of Jay due to their ties to Roc Nation. As such, it amplifies whatever opinion he tends to share, critical as it may be. Though Flex does add the caveat that he recognizes Jay as both the greatest rapper and businessman of all time, Desiree Perez's pardon from Donald Trump remains a sticking point for him. "So many people from over there got so irritated with me over the weekend," explains Flex, in the second part of the video embedded below. "It's just my opinion. And you know something? Ya'll are bullies, ya'll are real bullies when you stand behind that dude. Guess what, the big guy Jay-Z, he's earned that. And ya'll come from underneath and you want to bully. Well what comes with bullying is people giving their opinion. They bully, but they buy and purchase people and get upset behind the scenes at websites, air personalities, and bloggers." Kevin Mazur/Getty Images Eventually, he turns to Desiree Perez's alleged criminal history, a conversation that gained further momentum after the Roc Nation CEO received a Presidential pardon from Donald Trump. "When a pardon is involved...again, I don't think there's anything wrong with testifying, cooperating," says Flex. "Aligning with Trump, and this is my opinion -- Trump loves to shout the Proud Boys. Stand down and stand by. All of this to say, my President is not supposed to shout someone like that. Not supposed to support of give wiggle room to police brutality. Jay-Z shouldn't be aligning himself with people like that. Do not tell us you're for the people. On this subject right here, you do not fool me sir." "You stood down, didn't draw attention to the nasty shit Trump was doing," continues Flex. "Usually in a situation like that, there's money involved. You speak to somebody. You promise something for a pardon. It was everywhere that Trump was selling those pardons." He acknowledges that he doesn't know what it's like to have heavy charges on his record, showing a moment of understanding to Perez. "The part I have a problem with, is the Trump, Jay-Z moving with him," says Flex. "Business with Trump and what Trump supports." Check out his extensive radio message below. View the full article
  4. Staten Island rapper CJ shot to fame following the release of his viral single "Whoopty", which took everybody by storm. The beat has been discussed at length, including in our recent article dissecting the Hindi origins of the sample, which was also used by King Von, FBG Duck, and others. Following the success of his breakout single, CJ has signed a deal with French Montana, returning with a brand new music video for his follow-up single "BOP". The track sees CJ reveling in his newfound fame and success, stunting in front of luxury whips with some designer drip. The rapper hangs out with his crew and takes over the Big Apple, hanging out the window and shouting out his lyrics. Of course, CJ also references his "Whoopty" success a few times, blurting out the song title as an ad-lib throughout the new cut. Listen to CJ's official follow-up and stay tuned because he's on pace for a big year. 5. Fans of Natalie Nunn and Tommie Lee were perplexed last week when the unexpected announcement was made that the two reality stars would be facing off in the ring. The celebrity boxing match seemed to be confirmed through a series of speculation and acceptance videos, but nonetheless, the two women have agreed to go round for round. At this stage, according to Nunn, there are many offers on the table as to who will host the event, but it's reportedly slated to take place sometime in March. Tommie uploaded a video accepting the invitation to fight while Natalie responded with a clip of herself boxing in the gym. Both women have long-standing reputations for their hot-headed—and sometimes physically violent—nature, so people are wondering who will best in this bout. Recently, Natalie spoke about the upcoming match and made it clear that she's not one to be underestimated. "'Cause I was like, this ain't the smoke you want, sis. I just naturally started clapping back," said Natalie of her back-and-forth with Lee. She also added that the Zeus network has put in a bid to air the event. "Now this fight has to happen and I don't know if that's what sis really wants." Expect to hear more trash-talk from these ladies in the weeks to come as their match looms. 6. As it goes, "kids say the darndest things," and JT learned that lesson while on Instagram Live with a youngster named Logan. The City Girls rapper often spends time communicating with her fans, and Logan received the opportunity to chat while sharing a screen with the Florida artist. During their discussion, Logan had a few questions—and opinions—that he wanted to share, and the moment quickly went viral. "This little boy been asking me to go live with him for the longest he’s so innocent & sweet I hate how people try to make everything negative he’s 13. & a fan of us all I was honestly not in the mood I hate when ppl take the worst out of sh*t," JT wrote in the caption to a video of her Live with Logan. She wanted to make sure that people understood he's a kid undeserving of harsh criticism. "I'm surprised that you've never done a song with Nicki Minaj, like, do you have any beef with her," asked Logan in the clip. JT answered with a smile, "Oh, no baby. I don't got no beef." Logan said that he "loved Nicki Minaj" and JT echoed his sentiment. Then, Logan gave his thoughts on whether or not he believed a collaboration with the Barb queen and the City Girls would work out. "But like, I don't know if I could see y'all doing a song together," Logan added. "If y'all do, that's good, but I don't know if I see y'all doing a song together." He abruptly cut the Live short and said that he had to leave, but his innocent, and sassy, nature captured hearts. It didn't take long for the clip to circulate, and soon, everyone had something to say about the funny exchange. View the full article
  7. A shocking reveal was reportedly made on one of Kellyanne Conway's social media pages and now, the public is calling for the former aide of Donald Trump to be arrested. According to social media users, Kellyanne shared a nude photo of her 16-year-old daughter, Claudia Conway. The picture was reportedly almost immediately deleted, but the damage had already been done. People flooded Claudia's private messages and comments alerting her that the photo had been shared, and soon, the teen posted a video stating that her mother "deserves to go to jail." Drew Angerer / Staff / Getty Images "Apparently, that's real and I guess happened," said the teen. "The picture's from months ago and I'm assuming that when my mom took my phone, anytime she's taken it, she takes it all the time, she took a picture of that so that was on her phone and I guess she accidentally posted it or somebody hacked her, but nobody would ever have any photo like that ever." "So, Kellyanne, you're going to f*cking jail," Claudia continued. "I'm shaking. I don't know what to do. Nobody would ever have that photo. Ever. It was on my phone. I don't think I've ever sent it to anyone. So, I'm assuming that my mom took a picture of it to use against me one day and then somebody hacked her or something because there's no physical, possible way that anybody would have that photo of me." Claudia continued to express her disbelief and told anyone who may come across it to report it because it is considered to be child pornography. "My mom deserves to go to jail. That's unreal." 8. It's been years since Raz B first shared the allegations against Chris Stokes, but he has never waivered in accusing his former manager of sexual assault. Raz has maintained that Stokes violated him when he was a child, and while Stoke has denied the allegations, it hasn't kept the singer from speaking out. We've previously reported on the Fox Soul interview with Raz B that was shelved after the online network was served a cease and desist letter, and since that time, the B2K star has been publicly demanding that Stokes join him for a polygraph test. Surprisingly, B2K singer Omarion's brother O'Ryan lent his voice to the cause and also remarked that Stokes should sit down for a lie detector test after the music executive wrote a comment on one of his photos. In a recent Instagram Live, the singer shared with viewers why he decided to support Raz. "Just because you not a victim doesn't mean you can't speak up and say something," said O'Ryan. "This person thought they could just be on my comments... I just had to let him know, this is not sweet. You know, the experience I had over there was not good for me." He added that he has an album coming out soon and mentioned that he has a "whole different beef" that doesn't have anything to do with "the physical," but pertains to "sabotaging" his career. 9. She's been readying the release of her forthcoming album and hinted that she's been in the studio with The Neptunes, but we haven't received a project from Monica in years. Her talent is both undeniable and applauded, but some feel as if Monica could have reached even greater heights in her career. She recently hopped on Instagram Live to answer a few questions from fans, and in the process, she addressed why she decided to make certain choices and business moves. “I’ve always bared my soul and was transparent, which I catch a lot of flack for, all the time. But I’m still cool with it because if I don’t do nothin’ else, I’m going to be me,” she reportedly said. Monica also acknowledged that because she opted to maintain her authenticity, that may have contributed to her not being as big of an entertainer as some people expected. "Listen, I would have been a much bigger star, a much wealthier woman, had I put on for you," the singer added, also mentioning that she regularly sees artists doing just that. "That was a choice, a decision that I made. A lot of the stuff that you haven’t seen me do, is not because it wasn’t offered. It was because I made the choice not to. I got all the calls, but I knew what people were sacrificing to do what they were doing. I didn’t want to sacrifice that.” Watch her Instagram Live below to hear more from the Atlanta artist. 10. She's recently shared that she's in her final stages of grieving the loss of King Von, and Asian Doll has returned with some advice for men in the industry. The rapper has been mourning the loss of Von who was murdered outside of an Atlanta hookah bar back in November, and since that time, Asian Doll has been sharing pieces of her reported romance with the O Block icon. Doll has taken a break from revisiting her Von moments to offer up some guidance for "street n*ggas" who she says choose their boys over women who can keep them from trouble. "Having a girlfriend can really save a lot of you street n*ggas life stop dogging these females for n*ggas that will cross you," she wrote. "This generation need to normalize starting a family having a wife & raising they kids in 1 house Sh*t f*cked up seeing so many n*ggas lose they life with nothing left behind.. Life to short God put us all here for a reason....... find your reason." Her comments sparked a larger conversation about the responsibility of the rap industry and whether or not certain lifestyles being perpetuated in music has aided in how relationships and family structures are viewed within the culture. 11. Just prior to New Year's Eve, Tyrese and his wife Samantha Gibson announced that they would be getting a divorce. News regarding the surprising split was shared on each of their individual Instagram pages, but it seemed as if Tyrese was hoping for a reconciliation. Immediately following the announcement, the actor penned a lengthy comment under his wife's post that alluded to him hoping that they could reunite in the future, but soon, there was more news about Samantha alleging that the actor locked her out of their home. Daniel Zuchnik / Stringer / Getty Images There seems to still be hope on the horizon for the Fast & Furious star as he commented on Kirk and Tammy Franklin's anniversary post. The award-winning Christian musician and his wife are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary, and it's a milestone that not many have been able to make. After sharing a series of photos, Tyrese appeared in the comment section to one where he made a plea for the resolution of his marriage. Dear Samantha this was supposed to be us.... remember the franklins was our marriage GOALS!!!!!!!!!!!! Smiling smiling....... I’m gonna get her back watch me! [ I think ]." 12. After an "intense honeymoon period," FKA Twigs says her former romance with Shia LaBeouf quickly went south. The award-winning singer recently shocked the industry after coming forward with accusations against the acclaimed actor, including allegations that he physically and sexually assaulted her. Twigs claims that LaBeouf even knowingly gave her an STD, and after the news made the rounds throughout social media, LaBeouf came forward to acknowledge that he has been abusive to both himself and the people around him in the past. Melodie Jeng / Contributor / Getty Images Earlier today, FKA Twigs appeared on the Grounded with Louis Theroux podcast where she detailed having "PTSD" due to her relationship with LaBeouf. "It sets the benchmark for if you behave well and if you fulfill all of the requirements and meet the rules, and all these things of the abuser, it can...be great," said the singer. Twigs accused the actor of being "controlling" and added that insignificant moments could spark his rage. "For me, it was being nice to a waiter or being polite to somebody that could be seen as me flirting or wanting to engage in some sort of relationship with somebody else, when I'm literally just ordering pasta," she said. "I was told that I knew what he was like and if I loved him, I wouldn't look men in the eye. That was my reality for a good four months...that I wasn't allowed to look men in the eye." She also alleges that the actor would have an unspecified "quota" of how much physical affection he needed from her each day. "His previous partner apparently met this number very well, so I was inadequate compared to a previous partner of his." Twigs never shared who the "previous partner" was, but mentioned that she was "berated for hours" if she didn't fulfill his needs and suffered from PTSD once the relationship ended. "I felt so controlled and I felt so confused and I felt so low, beneath myself that the fear of leaving and knowing I had all this work to do to get back to just feeling okay, it was completely overwhelming." Twigs has a pending lawsuit against LaBeouf. [via] View the full article
  13. Years ago, Erykah Badu offered up advice to her Twitter followers: "Write it down on real paper with a real pencil with real intent and watch it get real . Spelling is a Spell. - eb." We often speak about the "power of the pen," but for Snoop Dogg, he saw too much of what he and other rappers were writing about in music becoming reality. During his rise, he worked alongside some of the most celebrated artists in the industry, but soon, many of them found themselves facing scandalous accusations, being hit with charges, going to prison, or losing their lives. Jamie McCarthy / Staff / Getty Images During a recent interview with Fatman Scoop, Snoop discussed why he decided to switch up his focus and change the content of his music. "One day, me and my cousin Daz [Dillinger] were going to the studio and I had a song in my head called 'DAVE,'" said the rapper. "D-A-V-E, Death After Visualizing Eternity. So, I wanted to write a song about someone that died and came back. At the time, I was gang-banging and all kind of sh*t, so my pen made me write 'Murder Was the Case,' which was the story of a gang-banger that got shot and on his death bed made a deal to get his life back, but he crossed God and he ended up losing at the end." Fatman Scoop wanted to know if Snoop ever thought it was "spooky" that he wrote "Murder Was the Case" before catching an actual case in 1993. "What's crazy Scoop, is that around that time, me, Tupac, Biggie, [Ice] Cube—all of the rappers that was rappin' around that time, we was writing what we was living," said Snoop. "Some of us was writing life and some of us was writin' death, but that's what we was living." He named Tupac songs like, "Death Around the Corner" and "If I Die Tonight," and Biggie's Life After Death album. After beating that murder case, Snoop said he "redirected" his pen because he witnessed how he and his fellow rappers were manifesting realities by what they focused on in their music. "I felt like I had wrote death all up until that point," said Snoop. "When I started writing Tha Doggfather, I lost a lot of fans, I lost a lot of homies, because they wanted me to keep it gangsta after beating the murder case. They wanted me to glamorize and glorify... but I was like, somebody's life was lost. My life was changed. This is a real situation." Watch Snoop explain himself below. View the full article
  14. "Potterheads" may finally be getting a TV series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a live-action series of the beloved movie franchise is reportedly in "early development" at HBO MAX. Sources tell THR, executives of the streaming service are talking to suitable writers for the series. Discussions of the series revolve around the ability to bring the Wizarding World of Harry Potter to TV screens. There are currently no writers or other talents said to be connected to the supposed series or deals being made for the series. A representative for HBO MAX and Warner Bros., the studio denied the development of a Harry Potter series. In a statement to THR it was made clear, "There are no Harry Potter series in development at the studio or on the streaming platform." Stephen Lovekin/Getty Images Expanding the Potter franchise is a major priority for HBO MAX and Warner Bros. The last film in the original franchise ended in 2011 with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. A spin-off and prequel to the series was made in 2016 with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The sequel to this movie is set to be released in 2022 after being delayed. Author of the Harry Potter book series, JK Rowling, has recently been under fire for her transphobic views. Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, spoke out against these comments with The Trevor Project. In his statement speaking out against JK Rowling Radcliffe said, "Transgender women are women. Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people and goes against all advice given by professional health care associations who have far more expertise on this subject matter than either Jo or I." 15. California is the latest state to ease Stay At Home COVID-19 mandates as the announcement was made earlier today (January 25), but if you've been in Atlanta, life has been back to the new normal for some time. Parties have been had, clubs have been open, and people are enjoying being out and about during the pandemic. There have been calls for restrictions to be reinstated due to rising numbers of COVID cases, but as citizens become antsy for things to return to some semblance of normality, it's been difficult for officials to keep people home for another year. Angela Weiss / Stringer / Getty Images In Atlanta, councilwoman Felicia Moore reportedly introduced an ordinance to place restrictions on recording studios—not so much because of the pandemic, but because there have been alleged repeated noise complaints. The ordinance was rejected, but T.I. surfaced on Instagram to tell Moore why studios are hubs for change. "Our Culture Runs This Town Ma'am These studios (& the creatives that work in em) have laid foundation & paved ways to create opportunities for this city like nothing else could," wrote the rapper. "Yeah we might get loud, no we not perfect, but we've contributed to this city's culture & economic growth, consistently...for decades!!! Our contributions to the communities here in this city have gone overlooked far too long." Tip added that prior to the film industry moving into the ATL, artists and rappers have been "making a difference in this city." He also said that "within the culture there's a host of producers, engineers, art directors, event planners, club & studio designers, radio personalities, A&Rs, DJ's , dancers, promoters, & club owners who've put ALL OUR HEART & SOUL into making this city what it is TODAY Put some respect on that please & thanks." He ended his rant with the hashtag, "Bye Felicia." His response gained mixed reactions as many co-signed his remarks while others wanted to know how the complaints from citizens and other businesses should be handled, not dismissed. 16. In the last few months of Donald Trump’s presidency, pop icon Billie Eilish was definitely not scared to share her feelings about the controversial, twice-impeached US President. At the Democratic National Convention in August, Billie Eilish performed a rendition of her single “My Future” in support of then Presidential Candidate Joe Biden and Vice Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris. In October, she and Harris had a virtual conversation that urged young people to exercise their right to vote. Kevin Winter/Getty Images In October, leaked documents exposed the fact that Billie Eilish had been ruled out by Trump for a pandemic-related ad campaign. Apparently, the $250 million ad campaign was created to inspire hope for the American people amid the coronavirus pandemic, and Billie Eilish was purposefully excluded from the campaign when her name came up. According to a quote by a member of the Trump administration, Billie was “not a Trump supporter” and was “destroying our country and everything we care about.” Billie was certainly not hurt by these remarks and was instead overjoyed that her identity was so threatening to the Trump administration. According to her cover story interview for the March 2021 issue of Vanity Fair, she said, “I was very proud of myself. Tons of my friends texted me and they were like, ‘I’m so proud of you! Trump is afraid of you!’ I was like, ‘Damn right.’” While Billie certainly doesn’t think that everything will be solved by Biden becoming president, she thinks it’s a step in the right direction. She explained, “There’s still a million things we need to do better, but just getting that orange piece of sh*t out of that White House is the best thing that could happen right now.” In the Vanity Fair cover story, Billie also discusses her role as a woman in society and explains how she has had to respond to body-shamers over her career. “The internet hates women,” she says. "I thought that I would be the only one dealing with my hatred for my body, but I guess the internet also hates my body. So that’s great.” After a photo of her in a tank top surfaced last year, she was met with many vile comments about her figure, which she normally covers behind oversized, baggy clothing. While many came to her defense, it was a testament to the kind of treatment women face online for simply exposing their bodies. Billie also discusses her upcoming documentary, The World's A Little Blurry, which is going to be released by Apple on February 26th. She's always been attracted to seeing herself on screen, explaining, “I just have always loved cameras, and I loved being on camera, and I’ve always loved watching videos of myself, since I was a little kid. I remember being 10 and being like, ‘Mom, can I watch home movies?’” Nearly every second of her time in the spotlight has been recorded somehow for the documentary, which takes viewers through the pop star's rise to fame. You can watch the trailer for her upcoming documentary below. [Via] View the full article
  17. The push to get Harriet Tubman's portrait on America's $20 bill has been reignited. In his first days in office, President Joe Biden has been working diligently at reversing many orders put in place by Donald Trump as well as issues that were dismissed by the previous administration. For years, there has been a call to remove Andrew Jackson's face from the $20 bill as denouncers have rejected featuring the slave-owning seventh President of the United States. Chip Somodevilla / Staff / Getty Images Throughout Trump's reign, the issue of the "Tubman Twenty" was sidelined, but according to reports, the effort has gained new steam following Biden and Harris's inaugurations. Earlier today (January 25), Biden press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters that the cause would move forward. “It is important that our .... money reflect the history and diversity of our country and Harriet Tubman’s image gracing the new $20 note would certainly reflect that,” Psaki said. “We are exploring ways to speed up that effort.” One day prior to exiting office, Trump filed an order for a garden of American heroes to be constructed with over 200 statues, including one of Harriet Tubman. It's said that the garden is unlikely to be constructed. Psaki added that a timeline of when America can expect it's $20 will be shared once the Treasury Department completes the design. 18. On Monday, Asia Argento brought forth some pretty serious allegations against TheFast and the Furious director Rob Cohen. Asia Argento talked with Italian newspaper Il Corriere della Sera to tell her story, which is one of horrifying abuse and violence. She told the publication that Cohen made her drink GHB, a drug that is often called a “date rape” or “club” drug and is associated with sexual attacks. According to Argento, this assault occurred when the two were filming the 2002 film xXx. Kevin Winter/Getty Images According to Argento’s interview with the newspaper, she states, “At the time, I really didn't know what it was. I woke up in the morning naked in his bed.” Argento is currently in the process of publishing an autobiography, which will be available in Italy on January 26th. She says that these assault claims are in the book. Vittorio Zunino Celotto/Getty Images Cohen was apparently shocked by the claims, his spokesperson noting that the two had “an excellent working relationship and Mr. Cohen considered her a friend, so this claim dating back to 2002 is bewildering.” Cohen isn’t new to sexual assault claims, as he faced two allegations before the end of 2019. In 2017, Asia Argento was one of the first women to openly accuse convicted rapist and blackballed producer Harvey Weinstein of assault. While there is clearly more investigation to be done concerning Argento's latest accusations against Cohen, we hope that justice will be served regardless. [Via] View the full article
  19. A beef is escalating as Yungeen Ace had a few words for DJ Akademiks. The blogger is no stranger to feuds in the industry, especially with artists, so it's not surprising that Akademiks embraced Yungeen's criticism with open arms. It all stemmed from Akademiks's report on snitching allegations involving SpotEmGottem where Yungeen Ace accused his fellow rapper of being an informant. Ace didn't appreciate what Aka had to say about the verbal conflict, so the rapper took to Instagram Live to call him out. Yungeen also told Akademiks never to speak on or report about him, and Akademiks took to Twitch to issue a response. "The n*gga sound like he is Pablo Escobar," said Akademiks. "I love when a rapper start off by saying, 'I don't be with the internet sh*t but I'm on Live and what's my views.' These rappers are hilarious... Don't you ever tell me not to post about you ever again... I also don't got to go over tons of receipts of y'all n*ggas tryin' to pay me to post y'all. Yungeen Ace, you're a little n*gga in rap. Don't talk about me like you some boss n*gga. I guess you like some gangsta, you killin' 30 n*ggas in the streets, but we in the industry, n*gga. And you talking to a different type of n*gga when it comes to me... I don't give two f*cks about y'all n*ggas." "This year, I'm not letting none of y'all get off," Akademiks added. He spoke about how he has more money than Ace and told him that he has receipts on the rapper. "Keep your little gangsta, gangsta sh*t with Spooky Wooky and [SpotEmGottem]. 21. As her single "Buss It" makes waves due to a viral dance challenge, Erica Banks is receiving more attention. The 1501 Certified Entertainment artist recently inked a deal with Warner Records, and we're sure to hear much more from the Texas rapper throughout the year. Since she first stepped onto the scene, people have been comparing her to her labelmate Megan Thee Stallion, but Banks has held on to her individuality while absorbing criticism from naysayers. In a sit down with The Shade Room, Banks was asked if she would be open to hopping on a record with Megan. "I would collab with Megan Thee Stallion because, at the end of the day, it's all business. It's nothing personal," said Banks. It's been no secret that Meg and 1501 have been at odds and the rapper has even sued them after signing a management deal with Roc Nation. "At the end of the day, we're all artists and at the end of the day, we all do music. So, anything personal, which there is nothing, I wouldn't even look at outside the business. So, we artists, we rap. It's all good." Erica was also asked if she had a dream collaboration for the remix to "Buss It." "You know what, we ain't even—and I said this in an interview earlier—we ain't even talked about no remix," she said. "Everybody keep asking, so maybe, I don't know, we might end up doing it." Then, she revealed that she wished Nicki Minaj would lend her talents to the remix because she's a huge fan of the Queen rapper. 23. Maryland's Lo Village has been warming up over the past few months. The trio released "Terry Crews" in October, followed by "Out The Window" as they built the anticipation for a new project. It’s important for us to not make the same mistakes which got us to this place. We know better, so we have to be better.” Check it out below. View the full article
  24. Ashanti and Keyshia Cole's Verzuz felt like a long time coming. Over the course of a few months, people have anticipated the battle only to have it postponed on several occasions. Ashanti caught coronavirus last year, pushing the event back on two separate occasions until Timbo and Swizz simply said, 'fuck it' and got the two R&B stars to face-off over IG live instead of in-person. And while there were hiccups along the way, it remained a successful evening for all. Following the battle, Verzuz came through with the analytics, proving that the platform continues to get bigger and bigger. On Instagram they had 1.2M concurrent viewers and 6M viewers in total which is now a new record for Verzuz. Additionally, it marked the second-highest tweeted battle of all time. Clearly, people were stoked for this but it's hard not to imagine that a good percentage of those tweets surrounded Keyshia Cole's tardiness. The previous record on Instagram was previously held by none other than Jeezy and Gucci Mane whose Verzuz racked upwards of 5.5M viewers on Instagram. Timbo and Swizz's platform has continued to go up throughout the pandemic. And it appears that future battles might include some late legends. Over the weekend, Timbo and Swizz hinted at two different Verzuz line-ups -- one with Tupac & Biggie, the other with Michael Jackson and Prince. View the full article
