Almost forgot this thread with all the festivities --Boo has keep me preoccupied as he wants Turkey every five minutes.

I'm off to a screening of the new Johnny Cash movie at a friend's house. Otherwise, I have some writing and editing to do for the rest of the weekend.

How about you?

I'm off to a screening of the new Johnny Cash movie at a friend's house.

Walk the Line was a faithful tribute to the life and times of Johnny Cash, focusing primarily on his lifelong obsession with fellow singer June Carter. Director James Mangold does a terrific job at capturing the early beginnings of Rock and Roll and its eventual marriage to country music. Joaquin Phoenix faithfully captures the spirit and musical lexicon of Johnny Cash while Reese Witherspoon wins the audience's hearts with her Academy performance of June Carter. Quite a nice biopic - and if you are not a Johnny Cash fan before seeing the film, you will be afterwards.

not too much on the agenda this weekend...Thanksgiving was good, slept in yesterday and ran a bunch of stupid drive-around-the-state errands in the afternoon. Got caught up on season 4 of curb your enthusiasm last night, took the kids to Y this morning then we went to Friendly's for lunch and ice cream.

not doing too much else. its freaking cold out.

probably take a nap then play age of empires later :P

Thanksgiving was alright, met up with two old friends from junior high that evening.

Friday and Saturday were spent mostly in the hospital with my grandpa.

And today... homework and crap.

edit: From what I'm gathering so far from various friends around the state... it's gonna be a tough week. A girl at one school hung herself in her dorm, my friend's roommate died, and a woman was shot at my school (near my campus).

I saw the film last weekend. I really liked it. Mr. Phoenix did a surberb performance and I was amazed by his vocals. Reese was great too very animated and lively. June Carter had spunk.

Well, my home finally looks like Christmas...did a massive cleaning and got the old tree out of the attic and decorated it has a little bit of the victorian and old country look going for it.

We also put up lights outside this year. We found a minature deer, gift box, and christmas tree to set up. It looks really cute. Maybe this week I'll post pics and you all can see how Georgians deck the halls. Now I am just pooped. I had a nice thanksgiving and have been on the go since Thursday. Anyone start shopping this weekend?

Saw the new Woody Allen on Saturday - it purportedly was a thriller - we all thought it was awful. Went down to Orange County today to listen to a timeshare demonstration - won a free flight and hotel to Cabo San Lucas :)

is she good? Crtl-f@@k

Dont know. She has a rich boyfriend - as she keeps reminding me between touching my thigh and phoning me for no reason. Hence the whore comment.

It has been a good day for quotes:

(20:13:49) Mike: i was going to lunch with these managers.

(20:14:01) Mike: and one of them made some joke

(20:14:08) Mike: i was only half listening

(20:14:18) Mike: and actually said "lol"

(20:14:28) Neil: :8

(20:14:40) Neil: The number of times I've come close to saying that is worrying...

(20:15:05) Neil: Trust me, mate- you are not alone!

(20:15:16) Mike: *feels a bit better*

(20:15:55) Mike: neither of them commented. both just looked at me for a second then decided they must have misheard

(20:16:06) Neil: And you said "TGFT"

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
