I agree with your assessment, Nate. My mom was alot of like this teacher. She believed everybody started out as 'average' - and if they learned something, then they were entitled to a higher grade because they were 'learning'...

I heard this country swing song tonite on the radio by Phil Harris. The lyricist, Andy Razar, descended from Royalty in Madagascar, came to America and performed with Fats Waller and many others. Also wrote the lyrics for Aint Misbehavin and Reefer Man, amongst others. Now if you were to imagine Country Rap, this would be it lol. Pretty hip for 1937. PS, Im pretty good on Google, but this took me an hour to find. See if you can find the music out there...Shawn would definitely like this, and probably Nate.. I heard this hip scat jazz song tonite called "That's What I Like About the South" by Phil Harris, have been searching around the web for the lyrics, and came across this guy. He also wrote Keep Shufflin, Reefer Man, Honey SuckleRose, Aint Misbehavin', The Joint's Jumpin--what a trip this guy was. A descendant of the royal family of Madagascar, Andy Razaf's lyrics were certainly high class. He was involved with many of the biggest hit songs and shows in early American popular music, either as the lyricist or sometimes writing words and music. Razaf wrote the lyrics for "Keep Shufflin," "Hot Chocolates" and "Blackbirds Of 1930." None of these shows would be cause for jubilation in the '90s, but they were major achievements in the '20s and '30s. He collaborated with Fats Waller on many epic hits, among them "Honeysuckle Rose," "Ain't Misbehavin," "How Can You Face Me" and "The Joint Is Jumpin." He also worked with Don Redman, Paul Denniker, James P. Johnson, Eubie Blake and William Weldon. Razaf wrote the big novelty smash "That's What I Like About The South," for Phil Harris. Razaf added lyrics to such instrumentals as "Reefer Man," "Knock Me A Kiss" and "Christopher Columbus," which Waller turned into a novelty hit. Razaf sometimes recorded as a singer using an alias. He cut "Back In Your Own Backyard" and "Nobody Knows How Much I Love You" as Tommy Thompson with Waller on piano. A stroke kept Razaf an invalid much of his life. The opening sounds of the song sounds like Brown Sugar--I used to play the chord structure--the Dandy's play it a little faster... The after coda does sound like Bitch.. If it wasnt for the vocals, I would say this was the Stones

when i first started exploring metal, i had no idea there were all these categories. i found them on some metal sites and search engines. i subtracted pop already. we can subtract or add more--so its good the EXPERTS are chiming in. the categories must have some relevance as you are categorizing stuff yourself. so let me know if you want more changes and what they should be
