  1. James Caan, who played Walter in Elf, says a sequel was never made because Will Ferrell and director Jon Favreau “didn’t get along.” Jerod Harris / Getty Images "We were gonna do it and I thought, ‘Oh my god, I finally got a franchise movie, I could make some money, let my kids do what the hell they want to do.’ And the director and Will didn’t get along very well,” Caan told Cleveland’s 92.3 The Fan’s Bull & Fox, Friday. “So, Will wanted to do it, he didn’t want the director, and he had it in his contract, it was one of those things.” In 2003, after the release of the film, Ferrell shot down the possibility of a sequel. He did not, however, blame Favreau: “Absolutely not,” Ferrell told Uproxx. “I just think it would look slightly pathetic if I tried to squeeze back in the elf tights: Buddy the middle-aged elf.” Despite their alleged animosity, Favreau and Ferrell's Elf was an extreme success. With a budget of $33 million, the film was grossed $220.4 million in the worldwide box office. In addition to Ferrell and Caan, the film starred Zoey Deschanel, Peter Dinklage, Amy Sedaris and more. Nowadays, Favreau helms the Star Wars Disney+ original series The Mandalorian. [Via] View the full article
  2. Big Sean says fan can expect a new album from Twenty88, the duo consisting of Jhené Aiko and himself. Sean confirmed that the album is "in the works," while responding to fans on Reddit. Vanni Bassetti / Getty Images When asked about the potential project on Reddit, he responded, "It's in the works." Twenty88's last album dropped in 2016. Sean initially said a second album was coming in 2017, but it never came together: "Thank you the next @twenty88 album is coming next year. We gon get our solo's off too though! #Dons #Soulmates #88," Sean said in 2016. Sean's most recent album Detroit 2, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, just last week. Fans can be assured Sean won't rush an upcoming album for Twenty88. He recently spoke about working smarter, not harder, when it comes to the studio: "I was in the studio all day, I used to be like, I'm going hard," he said. "But really, sometimes I would be in the studio all day just forcing it as opposed to really being in there 'cause I was inspired. I used to think that the amount of hours you put into something translates into it being successful, but really, it's not about that. It's about working smarter." Check out Sean's Detroit 2 here. 3. Gordon Hayward is expected to return to the Boston Celtics lineup, during the team's Game 3 matchup against the Miami Heat, Saturday. Hayward will play on a minutes restriction. Mike Ehrmann / Getty Images "Celtics‘ Gordon Hayward is available to play in Game 3 vs. Miami after missing a month with ankle sprain. He will come off bench," The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports. The 30-year-old veteran has been sidelined for over a month, struggling with an ankle injury. Hayward injured his ankle during Game 1 of the team's first-round series against the Philadelphia 76ers. He then left the bubble, as planned, to join his wife for the birth of their fourth child. Hayward is averaging 17.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game this season. The team hopes Hayward will play a crucial role in lifting the Celtics out of the 0-2 hole they've dug themselves into, two games into the Eastern Conference Finals. Following the Celtics' Game 2 loss, reports surfaced of a major argument amongst the team in the locker room post-game. "Guys were emotional after a hard game. Hard loss," head coach Brad Stevens said when asked about the report. "It was nothing. It was nothing. I'm not speaking about it," added point guard Kemba Walker. Game 3 tips off at 8:30 PM, Saturday. [Via] View the full article
  4. President Donald Trump says he will have a new Supreme Court nominee "very soon" to fill the seat of the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died this week after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Sarah Silbiger / Getty Images "If somebody were to ask me now, I would say that a woman would be in first place," he said. "The choice of a woman would certainly be appropriate." "We want to respect the process, and the process will move, I think it is going to move very quickly actually," Trump said. "I agree with the statement put out by Mitch McConnell. I agree with it actually 100 percent. I put out a very similar statement you saw, so I think we're going to start the process extremely soon, and we'll have a nominee very soon." "I think the choice will be next week, I do," Trump added. Democrats contest that the seat should not be filled until after the election. During former President Barack Obama's final year in office, he had the opportunity to fill Justice Antonin Scalia’s seat with a Democrat; however, Republicans countered that a seat should not be filled during the final year of a president's term. Democrats now expect the same from the Republicans as the situation is reserved. [Via] View the full article
  5. President Donald Trump told supporters at a rally in Minnesota that MSNBC anchor Ali Velshi being shot by a rubber bullet during a Black Lives Matter protest was “a beautiful sight." Sarah Silbiger / Getty Images "He got hit on the knee with a canister of tear gas," Trump says, confusing the rubber bullet for a canister of tear gas. "Wasn't it really a beautiful sight? It's called law and order." Velshi was hit while covering protests in Minneapolis following the death of George Floyd in May. "Alright guys, I got hit," he says before the camera cuts away. Contrary to what Trump said during his rally, Saturday, Velshi did not fall to the ground repeating "my knee." "Absolutely heinous. @AliVelshi didn’t deserve to be shot by a rubber bullet, anyone celebrating that violence has something wrong with them, and it’s twisted for anyone least of all a president to call it 'law and order.' No journalist should find this acceptable," CNN Correspondent Jake Tapper wrote on Twitter. "This is disgusting. Shame on you President @realDonaldTrump," added Piers Morgan. "Ali Velshi is a brilliant journalist who was injured doing his job. For you to celebrate that is despicable." "Freedom of the press is a pillar of our democracy," MSNBC said in a statement. "When the president mocks a journalist for the injury he sustained while putting himself in harm's way to inform the public, he endangers thousands of other journalists and undermines our freedoms." 6. Speaking about the Celtics emotional reaction to their Game 2 loss to the Heat, Draymond Green says winning teams argue more than losing teams. Ezra Shaw/Getty Images “The reality is, though, I think winning teams argue way more than losing teams,” Green said. “Because losing teams, they bicker. So if I’m on a losing team, I’m gonna come to you, Ernie, and say, ‘Hey man, Shaq ain’t pass me the ball and he’s freezing me out.’ And then you partner up with me, and me and you look at Shaq like he’s crazy. A winning team is gonna say, ‘Jayson, your body language was terrible in the first quarter,’ because that’s what I saw when I was watching the game. Their offense is on the run, they’re up a couple points, and he’s not touching the ball and he’s dropping his shoulders, but you’re the best player on the team. So yes, I am going to say something about that. “Winning teams will always argue more than losing teams,” Green continued. “And in fact, the media can love losing teams if they want, if they don’t want any arguing, and those teams will just lose, and that’s that.” After the loss, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that head coach Brad Stevens held a meeting with his players to "work through emotions." Marcus Smart was reportedly verbally upset with him teammates after the game. Woj explains, "Brad Stevens had a late night Thursday meeting with Celtics leaders – Kemba Walker, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart – to work through emotions of post-Game 2 locker room. A lot of yelling in locker room, but nothing escalated to a physical confrontation." The Heat and Celtics will face each other once again in Game 3, Saturday night. [Via] View the full article
  7. Sony has apologized for their handling of the Playstation 5 preorders. The company says they will release more PS5 consoles for preorder soon for those who could not get their hands on one amidst the chaos. Tomohiro Ohsumi / Getty Images "Let’s be honest: PS5 preorders could have been a lot smoother," Sony said on Twitter, Saturday. "We truly apologize for that. Over the next few days, we will release more PS5 consoles for preorder – retailers will share more details. And more PS5s will be available through the end of the year." Earlier this week, after abruptly announcing the console would go on sale for preorder, September 17th, retailers jumped the gun and listed the Playstation 5 and Playstation 5 Digital a day early. Fans rushed to add the system to their carts, causing technical issues for most retailer websites. Shoppers who attempted to preorder through Amazon, Best Buy and more experienced issues. The free-for-all left many sony fans without a console and, at the time, seemingly no hope to secure one. Rival Xbox followed by throwing shade at Sony when announcing their preorder date: "Pre-order September 22. Worldwide launch in 36 countries November 10. Hype 9000+ (don’t worry - we’ll let you know the exact time pre-orders start for you soon)," the company said on Twitter. [Via] View the full article
  8. New Orleans Saints star wide receiver Michael Thomas will miss Monday's matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. An ankle injury will force Thomas to miss his first contest in four years. Sean Gardner / Getty Images With two minutes remaining in last week's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Thomas could be seen limping off the field, having suffered a high ankle sprain. There's no timetable for his return, but players usually miss 3-4 weeks after suffering high ankle sprains. Thomas did say he wanted to play through the injury, but the team is holding him out. The Saints have not placed Thomas on the injured reserve, which would require him to miss three games. This likely means the team expects to have him back on the field sooner, rather than later. "Well, I think we definitely have a next-man-up mentality," quarterback Drew Brees said earlier this week, regarding the possibility of Thomas' absence. "I think everybody's always ready to step into a role and fulfill that role. I think our coaching staff does a great job of putting guys in the best position to succeed and building a game plan around the strengths of the guys that we do have." The Saints will play the Raiders at 8:15 PM, Monday. [Via] View the full article
  9. Immediately following the shocking death of Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant, and seven of their friends, the world rallied around widow and grieving mother Vanessa Bryant. In addition to Vanessa's close friends, Kobe's teammates, and the millions of admirers worldwide, it was reported that Vanessa was also leaning closely to her mother, Sofia Laine, for support through such a tragic time. Most people with loving relationships with their parents would turn to them during a tragedy, but Sofia has recently sat down for an interview where she claims she's been kicked out of the Bryant home. Kevork Djansezian / Stringer / Getty Images In an interview that is set to air on Univision that is completely in Spanish, Sofia Laine claims that her relationship with her daughter is on the rocks. The full feature will air on Monday, but a preview was shared to Instagram. Sofia stated that Kobe has been laid to rest in a private cemetery before shedding tears as she allegesVanessa not only told her to leave their home, but she also demanded that Sofia return her car, as well. This situation is only expected to get even messier as the family drama is revealed in the full interview. In the meantime, check out the clip below. [via] View the full article
  10. The wheeling and dealing that goes on behind the scenes in the music industry isn't often understood by the layman, but fans trust it's for the greater good. We recently reported on Mary J. Blige revisiting the tale of how she decided to pass on Rihanna's mega-hit "Umbrella," and recently, Alicia Keys sat down with Stereogum and shared that Christina Aguilera was *thisclose* to belting out her chart-topper, "If I Ain't Got You." Kevork Djansezian / Stringer / Getty Images The single was included on Keys's sophomore studio album The Diary of Alicia Keys back in 2003 and eventually earned the singer a Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. It's an Alicia Keys classic that is one of her most recognizable and beloved hits, but Keys said she almost let it slip through her fingers. “There’s a really funny, amazing story around this song. I think we were on the same label at the time. She reached out and was like, ‘Would you write something for me?’ And then it came through so many emails. What a voice!" Keys recalled. "I know I could write something fire for her. So time passed and I hadn’t written the song yet. And [the label] was like, “Do you have anything for Christina?’ I remember I had just recently written ‘If I Ain’t Got You.'" Because she didn't have another song on deck, Keys was ready and willing to pass along the track to Aguilera. When she told her A&R, he asked her if she was "f*cking crazy... We’re not giving her that song. Are you out your mind?’" Keys laughed at the memory. "I was like, ‘Why not? I’ll write a hundred more of those, it’s fine. I think she should hear it. I don’t really think it’s a big deal.’ But I thought, ‘Fine, I’ll go write another song.’" Keys said she ended up penning 'Impossible" for Christina Aguilera and sang back up. Do you think Aguilera would have done "If I Ain't Got You" justice? [via] View the full article
  11. It's been decades since the inception of Hip Hop, so naturally, generations of fans have latched themselves to the genre. In today's culture, it's not uncommon for those considered as "Old Heads" to be dismissed when they criticize Hip Hop's new waves, but rap legend MC Eiht isn't a fan of the older generation being kicked to the curb. While speaking with the Murder Master Music Show, MC Eiht lamented that Hip Hop is the only genre of music where artists seem to expire when they get to a certain age and he gave his take on why that is. "There should be no age limit! I know a lotta cats within Hip Hop think there should be some kind of age limit especially when you got new artists coming up who are trying to get their foot hole in the game," said Eiht. "Some might feel that a constant veteran who is still releasing projects might interfere with their progress. In no other genre does age discriminate as far as making music. R&B, Country, Pop—whatever it seems like—it's only in Hip Hop. I just think that's because it's more competition, a lotta dudes don't like competition, a lotta dudes like the easy walk, but I'm one of those cats who feel if you still can put out quality music and your fans accept it and still want to hear it, I feel you should go with it. " MC Eiht isn't the only artist who feels this way. Back in 2013, Missy Elliott spoke about this with The Breakfast Club, saying no one told James Brown he was finished when Michael Jackson came on to the scene. Check out MC Eiht's interview below. 12. Weeks after he caught heat for telling Star Wars actor John Boyega to be grateful for his place in the industry, Michael Rapaport is taking aim at Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion. The outspoken actor often adds his commentary to pop culture issues that make headlines, and "WAP" is certainly a subject that has a stronghold on social media. The explicit single became a No. 1 hit for the two rappers, but Michael Rapaport isn't a fan of the viral sensation. Rapaport shared an audio clip to his Instagram page where he complained about the song. "Yo, you're making club bangers, but we ain't got no club to go to. You're making strip pole music but we don't have a strip club to go to. We've had seven f*ckin' months. You've had seven f*ckin' months to come out with something articulating your personal feelings, the anguish, the pain, the sorrow, the uncertainty of where we are," he said of the recent civil unrest. "Just a single, and the best we got is wet ass p*ssy?" "Yeah, sure, J. Cole put out a couple of—these are not even good J. Cole songs, to be honest," added Rapaport. "Yeah, he says great things... C'mon man. C'mon. Do yourself a favor these next couple of days. Play Stevie Wonder on a loop. We're so disposable. We have access to mixtapes. We have access to every f*ckin' song. Just live with Stevie for a few days." Do you agree with Michael Rapaport? Listen to his post below. View the full article
  13. On Friday (September 18), Ruth Bader Ginsburg succumbed to her battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer. The Supreme Court Justice has been in and out of the hospital for some time as the 87-year-old addressed a number of growing health issues. She, along with her supporters, hoped that she would survive the next election, but unfortunately, Justice Ginsburg has passed on. Mark Wilson / Staff / Getty Images Thousands have gathered outside of the Supreme Court building for an impromptu vigil in Justice Ginsburg's honor and joined together in singing John Lennon's classic song "Imagine." Others have taken to social media to share in their grief about her passing. President Trump was asked about his thoughts regarding the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg immediately after the news was shared, but he hadn't been notified. "She just died? Wow. I didn't know that," President Trump said. "She led an amazing life. What else can you say? She was an amazing woman, whether you agree or not. She was an amazing woman who led an amazing life. I'm actually sad to hear that." Later, the White House released an official statement recognizing Justice Ginsburg's impact on American politics and beyond. 14. As the A$AP Mob seemed to be in some sort of fracas over whether or not A$AP Ferg was still a member of the crew, A$AP Twelvyy has been strategically preparing for the release of his forthcoming project. The rapper is all set to drop Noon Yung on October 2, and to aid in the record's release, Twelvyy shares his single "S.N.L. (Satellites and Limousines)." A$AP Twelvyy, like many of his fellow artists, has been seeking the silver lining during this 2020 pandemic. Things may be shut down indefinitely, but Twelvyy has been utilizing the solitude to focus and create. He told Modern Notoriety, "2020 has been like an adventure, a roller coaster, everything. If you haven’t been inspired to create anything, I don’t know, you’re missing out. So everything’s been going, the year has been given me the energy to write, to create, to do deals, to do art, to do everything, and it made the music so much better because it gave it so much content." He added, " I needed 2020. 2020 just made the music so much better." Stream "S.N.L." by A$AP Twelvyy and let us know what you think. 15. The TattleTales hype may have subsided, but Blac Chyna is still feeling the heat for helping 6ix9ine promote his latest project. Right before the album was set to hit streaming services, photos of Blac Chyna with 6ix9ine were shared to the colorful rapper's Instagram page. Chyna was nude aside from donning some strategically placed sprinkles, and much like Nicki Minaj, the model mogul was attacked for partnering with the rapper. Chyna addressed the controversy while speaking with L.A.'s popular Power 106 radio station this week. "I think business is business and if somebody's talented, they're talented. I feel like a lot of people should get out of their feelings and get into a bag," Blac Chyna said. "That's how I feel about it... If a lot of people stop worrying about the next person then they'll probably be more successful with anything that they do. I think people need to grow up, stay in your lane, mind your business, make your money, drink your water, eat your fruit." Nicki also addressed the naysayers that attacked her for working with 6ix9ine on "Trollz," telling them that she's not a person who lives by the code of the streets because she's not a gangster. 16. On the heels of the news that he planned on suing Instagram, Boosie Badazz made his way to Twitter where he had some choice words for Kanye West. Over the past week, West has captured the attention of the world due to his stream of consciousness rants that have taken aim at the music industry—specifically, Universal Music Group and Sony Music. However, West has also brought up Drake quite a few times on his Twitter feed, from sharing childhood videos of the OVO mogul rapping along to The Fugees all the way to demanding an apology from his former friend. Carmen Mandato / Stringer / Getty Images Drake previously explained to Rap Radar that he had no intention of reconciling with Kanye West, but Ye seems determined to make amends. Boosie, like the rest of the world, has been witnessing Kanye's pleas, but he believes Ye can't stop talking about Drake because of jealousy, not friendship. Boosie wrote, "@kanyewest WHY U CANT KEEP DRAKE OUT YO MOUTH BRA... IM GO SAY IT #stophatin #stophatin smh YOU SHOWING STR8 JEALOUSY N YOU AINT EVEN GOTTA DO THAT U RICH RICH N*GGA SMH." West hasn't said anything about Boosie's message just yet. View the full article
  17. He helped helm the Watch The Throne mega-hit "N*ggas in Paris," but Hit-Boy's relationship with Kanye West hasn't been as successful as the single. The pair were once close associates, personally and professionally, but earlier this week, Hit-Boy shared on Instagram that he kicked Kanye to the curb after a conversation her had with the rapper years ago. According to the producer, West told him that he "stopped picking my beats because I worked with Beyonce." In a sit down with GQ, Hit-Boy explained why he decided to publicly share the information about his division with Ye. "Obviously he always goes on these sporadic rants, but some of that stuff was resonating with me," said the producer. "A lot of people on Twitter were like, 'Why even throw the Beyonce sh*t in there?' I'm going to tell you why. He on Twitter preaching, 'I love all my brothers and we need to stick together and all this sh*t.' But I feel like [Kanye] put me in a position where I was battling the 'system' and I was battling with my brothers. Because it would be different if Kanye was like, 'Your sh*t wack now, I'm not using you.' But n*gga, you telling me because you saw me working with somebody else that you're not going to pick my beats?" Hit-Boy added that while he was with GOOD Music, he worked with plenty of other artists aside from Beyoncé, but it didn't seem to be a problem. He added that he didn't know why Bey seemed to be a trigger for West. "I worked with so many artists and I never heard anything until I locked in with her," said Hit-Boy. "So that just kind of rubbed me the wrong way. And I had to bury those emotions for years. The way he was speaking just sparked me to tell my side. This is how I feel. Like I'm fighting, to me, two oppressors: Corporations and somebody that is supposed to be a true mentor to somebody like me." [via] View the full article
  18. Fans may be sending their "thoughts and prayers" to Cardi B, but the rapper said she doesn't need them. Days ago, it was announced that Cardi filed for divorce from her husband of three years, Migos rapper Offset. The pair have weathered quite a few storms but this time around, Cardi had enough. There have been rumors that Offset fathered a child with someone else or cheated on his wife, but the "WAP" rapper has come forward to set the record straight. Cardi B got on Instagram Live on Friday (September 18) to update fans on how she's been holding up in the midst of the tragic news about her relationship. Alberto E. Rodriguez / Stringer / Getty Images "I'm okay. I wanted to let y'all know I have not shed not one tear," said Cardi. "Every single time that this guy has been so crazy, so f*cked up and it hits the media, I'm always crying, always sad because I don't like that type of sh*t. This time, I wasn't crying. You want to know why? The reason for my divorce is not because of none of that sh*t that ever happened before. It's not because of cheating. I'm seeing people be like, 'Oh, he has a baby on the way.' That's a whole f*cking complete lie. That's the second time people are trying to pin babies over here. No, that's bullsh*t." "I just got tired of f*cking arguing," she added. "I got tired of not seeing things eye to eye. When you feel like it's just not the same anymore, before you actually get cheated on, I'd rather just leave... Nothing crazy out of this world happened, sometimes people really do grow apart," Cardi said. "I been with this man for four years. I have a kid with this man, I have a household with this man…sometimes you’re just tired of the arguments and the build-up. You get tired sometimes and before something happens, you leave.” She also denied allegations that the divorce filing was a publicity stunt to hype her next album. 19. Ever since EarthGang first announced that Spillage Village was working on an album back in March, anticipation for the collective's big drop has been steadily building. With a roster boasting the talents of Olu, Wowgr8, J.I.D, Mereba, 6LACK, Jurdan Bryant, Benji, and Hollywood JB, it stands to reason that a welcome blend of musicality, lyricism, and Atlanta soul will be delivered upon Spilligion's September 25th release date. Furthering that notion are the two singles "End Of Daze" and "Baptize," point of which seem to indicate that the album will be among the sleeper hits of the year. Image via HNHH Today, EarthGang has taken to Twitter to share the album's full-song tracklist, with a Reddit deep-dive on Apple Music indicating the lineup breakdown for each song. As stated earlier, we've already heard two of the tracks, leaving ten up in the air. As for features, given the fact that Spillage Village is a collective, there don't appear to be too many assisting players. Still, the Vill did bring a few friends into the fold, namely Ant Clemons, Chance The Rapper, Lucky Daye, and Big Rube. 20. Dr. Dre and his soon-to-be ex-wife are going through a particularly heated and very public divorce that only seems to be getting worse by the day. Nicole Young, who has apparently asked the courts for a reported $2 million a month in spousal support, recently filed documents that allege that the producer is hiding lucrative assets to protect them from being lost to his estranged wife in the divorce proceedings. In her documents, Young specified two of those valuable assets: the trademarks for "The Chronic" and his own stage name. TMZ reports that sources close to Dre consider these allegations to be a "desperate" attempt at "embarrassing" the producer. "They were married in 1996. Chronic came out in '92 and Dr. Dre used his name since the 80's," they were quoted as saying. "[...] it's all his and his alone." While that may be true, Young's legal team asserts that Dre didn't trademark his name until after the two were wed in 1997. Mike Coppola/Getty Images The documents also allege that Dre moved the trademarks into a new holding company in which he had the sole controlling stake. Young claims that the trademarks were moved following a particularly heated argument after which he threw her out of the couple's shared home and threatened a divorce. As it stands, it's unclear how much the prenup Young reportedly signed will affect the proceedings. She also alleged that Dr. Dre subjected her to "physical, emotional and financial abuse" throughout their marriage. TMZ's Dre sources affirmed that Dre was involved in and took responsibility for a violent incident "30 years ago" that did not involve his wife, likely referring to his 1991 attack on journalist Dee Barnes. In any case, we hope that Young and Dre are able to work things out amicably. View the full article

  23. Giannis Antetokounmpo was blessed with a huge honor today as he was officially crowned the NBA MVP award. This is the second-straight year that Giannis has received the honor, which puts him in rare company. The Greek Freak also won the Defensive Player of the Year award thanks to his abilities on both sides of the floor. Today, many critics have pointed out the failures of the Milwaukee Bucks in the playoffs, although, at this point, it's clear that the MVP and DPOY awards are for regular season play. In 2021, Giannis will have a huge Free Agency decision on his hands. Many are unsure of whether or not he will stay in Milwaukee, although the superstar has made comments to reassure fans of his intentions. In fact, Giannis made some interesting comments today, stating that as long as the Bucks are committed to winning, he will stay with the franchise for the rest of his career. “As long as everybody’s fighting for the same thing … which is to be a champion, I don’t see why not to be in Milwaukee for the next 15 years," Giannis said. Many players have made comments like this in the past, only to change their minds a few months or years down the line. With this in mind, it's important with Bucks fans to proceed with caution heading into next year. View the full article
  24. It wouldn't be a Kanye West Twitter spree without a few mixed signals, and that's exactly what happened in the thick of his latest batch of tweets. While it has admittedly become rather difficult to keep track of where Ye's head is at, he did take a few rather pointed shots at Puma. Declaring their designs to be "embarrassingly trash," he went on to volunteer his services in an effort to "make everything ok." On its own, it's a condescending shot at a rival shoe brand -- yet in the wake of J. Cole's recent Puma partnership, which culminated in an influx of brand new Dreamer sneakers, many were quick to make a more hostile connection. Many including Ibrahim Hamad, co-founder of Dreamville Records. Responding to an Instagram report from BRKicks highlighting Yeezy's disparaging words, Ibrahim straight up addressed the implication in the comments section. "Cole living in his head rent free at this point," he writes, alongside a few tears-of-laughter emojis for good measure. Clearly, Ibrahim doesn't think much of Kanye's Puma disrespect, going so far as to directly fuel the narrative that Ye's animosity toward Cole was the catalyst for the controversial tweet. Interestingly enough, all of this happened to transpire following Kanye's open invitation for a sit down with Cole, though only after receiving a public apology from the K.O.D. rapper. It seems as if "False Prophets" and sub shots on "Middle Child" haven't exactly been sitting right with the eccentric Jesus Is King visionary. But perhaps it shouldn't be surprising -- after all, Kanye did describe himself as "petty" during a recent Tweetstorm. Do you think Kanye was taking a deliberate shot at Cole? View the full article
  25. At this point, we need not go over the history between Taylor Swift and Kanye West. Suffice it to say, Taylor Swift doesn't exactly have a glowing opinion of Ye. However, the two may finally have something they can agree on. Back in 2019, Swift went public with her dismay at superstar manager Scooter Braun's acquisition of Big Machine Label Group, which she had been signed to since the age of 15. Essentially, what this meant was that Scooter Braun effectively owned and controlled the master recordings for some of her biggest songs. Swift, who had long considered Braun her nemesis, called it her "worst case scenario." "Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it," she wrote on Tumblr. Although Swift has a real talent for sensationalism and is quite adept at painting herself the doe-eyed victim (the music video for "Famous," while undoubtedly disrespectful, is hardly "revenge porn"), she had all the reason in the world to be upset about this. Enter Kanye West. The rapper has made sure to emphasize that his crusade against major labels wasn't just a fight for hip hop, but for "all" musicians. Having previously requested Taylor's support on Twitter, the rapper recently made another personal plea to the country star. "I'M GOING TO PERSONALLY SEE TO IT THAT TAYLOR SWIFT GETS HER MASTERS BACK," he promised. "SCOOTER BRAUN IS A CLOSE FAMILY FRIEND." He then went on to reiterate his goal to "TRANSPARENTLY CHANGE EVERY ALBUM DEAL EVERY PUBLISHING DEAL EVERY MERCH DEAL EVERY TOURING DEAL," before making a sly joke towards Drake. Although both Drake and Swift have yet to reply to any of Kanye's tweets, this latest appeal to Taylor is sure to at least get her attention. Do you think she will accept the olive branch that Ye is extending? View the full article
