I'm a bad neighbor

Shawn

And today I got worse. Despite it being a holiday UPS delivered the new tower speakers I wanted for the home theatre.

I'm having trouble forming coherent sentences. :good job: I feel 15% worse for my neighbors than usual.

Anybody got a story about a hated neighbor like me? :rotfl:

Well, lessee...I just "moved out" two and half years ago, but being in dorms, apartments, and now my first *gasp* house i've had a lot of neighbors.

In the dorms I had some ridiculous neighbors...my sweetmates were white kids who thought they were black from san diego...liked to listen to rap music all day everyday. Which was fine, except the bass was so loud my window would rattle. Lots of weird neighbors, most of which were bad...including a stripper (well...not so bad), drug dealer, druggies (sweetmates again...having the police knock on your door looking for them at 3am sucks), and generally loud drunk obnoxious dumbass ASU guys

we have a huge subwoofer and mac speakers which, when set only at 5 tend to blast the living daylights out of all around (and since we wake up early, music's blasting early as well). during the day it's set up around 8 or 9.

i've asked our neighbors (the other 2 flats in the house) if we're bothering them as well as people on the street who live next door. dunno if it's english politeness but they all said No. (we can't believe this--it's really LOUD). but hey...y'know, if nobody complains, that's our ticket to keep on blasting.

 but really, we try to do all we can to destroy the general opinion that amerikans are unfeeling, uncaring 'me first and me only' morons. we go out of our ways to be nice (we do! although that's very hard for me since i'm a selfish person who doesn't give a shit about anyone else)

I do have rather foolish neighbours.

The man is our former babysit, used to be a nice guy until at 21 he was reborn as a Christian (is that correct in English? - it is what they call it here - they even have themselfves rebaptised and for that occassion they go totaly under the watersurface!!)

But it is his wife that makes all the noice: She cannot handle kids, and she has two.

She screems, she shouts, bangs the doors and the few times she is not mad, she sings gospels.....

But we try to get on with them, you have to LIVE besides them....... :whiteflag:

I never have the music loud, I am so deaf that I can only hear it right by using a good headset.

But I know they do NOT like us growing hemp in the garden, (just harvested two plants yesterday :smokin: - one is left but it carries NO buds - we have enough untill next year, though) and they also do NOT like us taking a sun bad naked or blowing outside in a spot were they can smell it.

We do not always consider their wishes, however! :reallymad:

I have a neighbor that needs to learn how to shut his door when he leaves, he slams it EVERYTIME HE GOES SOMEWHERE!!!! None of my pictures on that wall are straight!! :reallymad: His wife/girlfriend has no problem what so ever shuting the door.

And forget about getting loud with the stereo! He bangs on my wall when I get loud. Which isn't that often. Oh, but he can get loud....he got so loud on time it shook my entertainment center and some candle holders I have sitting on it!! They even watch movies at "movie theater" volume.....I had a war with him one time.....I put in Pink Floyd's "The Wall" on my surround sound and got loud.....

You just gave me an idea...

Next time she sings gospels, I will put the stereo loud, playing: Hell aint a bad place to be.......

BTW: I have my guitar hanging at the wall near the banging neighbour-door..

it always resonates....

And I refuse to change my decoration because of some idiot who bangs!

:nope:

OMG, how did i miss this? in germany i would be waving to the passing Polizei while smoking my pipe and they always waved back. and hanging clothes to dry on the balcony while undressed. but the first week i tried that here, i realised the neighbors were not too pleased and i'm all 'duh me, forgot where i am...i'm sorry.' (would NEVER try that shit again!)

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
