it's part of the ruins of a Cistercian Abbey near here.... and that bit is in the 'infirmary' but there are no clues on their info to what it was used for...

The builders couldn't find a use either and that is why it is not being used today. It's useless!!!! :D

it looks like what I've seen in France in a Roman ruin

the fire-place for heating the floor

But to be shure you should see the square entirely. This should NOT be closed of course, that should have ways to transport the warm air.....

My husband, a historian also thinks it has something to do with heating. He is not sure, he also needs more info.

I only have this one more picture of it which probably isn't any more enlightening.... but I like the heating explanation :D

DAIC.... your chances of actually getting the ball in the hole would improve vastly with that one

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
