Bands Where One Guy Had Most Of The Talent

That's an interesting thought... I think a lot of bands/artists must start out that way and those with talent progress and the less talented are left behind with their claim to fame by association.

and of course I cant think of any examples as per usual

A band which drew some thread space earlier this week, Creedence Clearwater Revival, is a good example. John Fogerty wrote the songs, lyrics and music, sang the songs and swept up the studio. When the other three members started complaining and demanded that songs of their own be put on albums, then the quality of the recordings dropped hugely. After the group broke up, John Fogerty recorded an album, Blue Ridge Rangers (available on newsgroups now), in which he played every instrument.....albeit not simultaneously.

Gerry And The Pacemakers

lol - well i would argue that there wasnt any talent at all in that band... otherwise, we would have to include dave clark of the dave clark 5 and herman of herman's hermits!

At one time I would have said Kurt Cobain, but that's been blown to bits now.

I hadn't heard that about Foggerty before. Good to know.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
