  1. In a capitalist society, it's the best reason. However, in my ignorance (read: defence) I wasn't aware that SiSoft's Sandra had to be purchased, because I got hold of my copy when it came free on a CD with a computer Mag. Mind you, I also wonder just how much more people need to know about their computers? After all, the current Aida32 seems fairly futureproof, and although it's a shame that less and less seem willing to provide something for nothing, I'm sure there'll be future incarnations. I'm also sure you'll have to pay for them. Call me cynical, but I'm sure that's where it's heading. ...almost forgot - thanks for making me look at Aida32 again - I've just discovered the massive list of web links :)
  2. From Telegraph.co.uk: 'There could be blood on the tracks for Bob Dylan after he appeared in a television commercial yesterday for luxury lingerie. Asked in 1965 what might tempt him to sell out, Dylan replied: "Ladies undergarments". Now the the Woodstock generation has been jolted by the sight of rock's most enigmatic performer appearing alongside model Adriana Lima as she slips into something sheer to cavort in the Palazzo of Venice...' I would link directly to the story but you have to register to view it. So there you go, Bob hasn't sold-out, in fact he's remained true to his word
  3. A band where one guy has most of the talent? ...'Cream' springs to mind...
  4. 'Sandra' seems to be what the Brit press use, and it seems to be a better program (in my limited experience) than Aida (mainly cos it can tell what temp my CPU et al are running at). Otherwise, they both seem much of a muchness, but I would like to know why you treat it with such contempt? I don't profess to know everything, and would be very interested if there are any reasons why you choose not to use SisSoft's 'Sandra'
  5. Hmmmm, Quite worrying - if even MS can't cover their own tracks, what chance do the rest of us stand? Does this problem happen with the Mac conversion? I mean, Apple pride themselves on being 'non-MS' but with the resurgence of Macs coinciding with MS porting the Office document formats to Mac, does the problem exist on Macs? If so, are the Mac owners out there worried?

Wasn't it the SVChost thingy that MS had security problems with? I'm sure it was a combi of SVChost and the Remote Call Procedure that caused all those problems not so recently. Anyways, I've got 6 instances [of SVChost] running - should I worry, or is my computer just different? Please, I'm already frieghtened at what MS can know about me, please re-assure me that this SVChost processs is nowt to worry about... please. :(
