well of course there are bound to be connections... the Irish populated most of the planet y'all
This is what it says... and of course it can't be wrong...

What American accent do you have? (Best version so far)

Midland

("Midland" is not necessarily the same thing as "Midwest") The default, lowest-common-denominator American accent that newscasters try to imitate. Since it's a neutral accent, just because you have a Midland accent doesn't mean you're from the Midland.

Then again... If I'm not mistaken, I learned my English from kid TV shows when I was little, so who can blame me for not having a Southern accent lol.

"Northern"

Whoever wrote this did not even try to figure out the differences in New England dialects--there's actually a big difference between Bahston, nothern Vo Dilun, southern Rodilan, and Swamp Yankee...

I voted "meh." A better designed questionnaire should have placed me about 25 miles south of Provdince...: lol:

They got the accent right, but in terms of geographical location, they were only 2000 miles off

oh didn't know there was a quiz. i thought you were just asking, in which i'd say a combo of Valleygirl, Grunge, techie-boy (the last two thanks to Yahoo-boy), Brooklyn, and my best 'mature adult' American voice (when i need something from back there).

wait, brb.

whoa, big surprise: i have a Northern accent. dummies should've differentiated between 'northern' and brooklyn, new joisey, massachusetts, like that. i demand a refund! i want my two minutes back!:skullbones:

Northeastern

Most people don't know it but this is actually what dictionaries are based on. If you don't believe me, pick up any American dictionary and look up "source" and "sauce" and you'll see they are written with the same vowel pronunciation.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
