Our very own member, DudeAsInCool, just last week was part of a deal that inked a movie about the Tupac Shakur's shooting and death from the perspective of Suge Knight.

Marion "Suge" Knight has signed with Beaux Carson's Carson Signature Films to allow his version of the events surrounding the shooting of rap legend Tupac Shakur to materialize on big screen. Knight was driving the BMW where Shakur was murdered in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. The 1996 shooting remains unsolved. Carson, describing the film as "Training Day" meets "The Godfather," said he has pursued Knight for two years to get rights for the movie. "We're not pointing any fingers, just telling a story," Carson told the Long Beach Press Telegram. Knight is also planning a collaboration album featuring rappers from Tupac's time in conjunction with the film, according to Carson. Portions of the proceeds would benefit programs for underprivileged youth. In related news, Knight remains under 24/7 surveillance by the California Department of Corrections in his Beverly Hills home. The rap mogul will serve out the rest of his parole there, following his arrest this month on suspicion of parole violation after marijuana was reportedly found in his vehicle at a traffic stop. The detention requires that Knight submit to random drug testing and stay in his home from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. every day.

You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
