  1. Your wares are getting better and better, man. I love the sycopated percussion, how you interweave the other melodies, and how it builds and builds :good job:
  2. Woaaaa - one of our legends. Completely original and irreplacable.. r.i.p. At least I got to exchange an hello and a smile with him once.. (We used to frequent the same restaurant 'cause he lived in the same neighborhood)
  3. Got an invite to visit MySpace.com, which hosts alot of new music bands, by DiminishedD, the young high school band, and I came across this new band National Product. Here's some b.g. info and a link to hear their cuts. They sounded kinda catchy: National Product Five guys originally from the island of Oahu, Hawaii now relocated to Southern California. NP has rapidly been been making more than a name for themselves. Word of mouth has kids on the east coast in states like New York, Jersey and Florida talking about their live show. Funny thing is that National Product has never even been to the east coast. With an EP recently produced by Chris Kirkpatrick of Nsync and Ray Brady of Black Eyed Peas, along with several appearances on MTV and sold out shows, National Product has all the backing and strength to go as far as they want it to go. http://www.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseactio...=20040702035240

  7. Well, it's that time again. I plan to do some serious writing this weekend, watch and play some tennis & check out a few bar-b-q's. *** I got this PM from Slum Goddess, so I am going to post it as she didnt see this thread, and Im sure she would want to post this here: i just wanted to say they're pulling the plug in a bit and we fly back to england tomorrow night but we still don't have a landline/net connection at home. i'm going to try to sign into beatking as many mornings as i can pull the laptop away from chris (not you, hee hee). anyway, i'm so excited (and simultaneously terribly upset about peter(her cat) although i try not to think about him now). i hope things are going good for you and i hope to be back here/online ASAP. have a great weekend and talk to you soon. :-) later **** Shawn is camping this weekend somewhere in the wilds..and as previously posted, CJules is off getting married somewhere in Wisconsin... *** Tell us about the wild weekend you have planned!
  8. New Riders and Hot Tuna fan here :)... But back to topic. I remember being at the Mayor's House in my small town growing up in the sixties. They had some tv doc about the new music coming out. Frank Zappa was being interviewed on the Sunset Strip, and my bud turned to everyone and said, "Oh mny God, he's an anarchist!" From that moment, I liked Zappa immediately and rushed out to buy Freak Out
  9. I always forget about Dunbar, even though Ive had almost all the albums listed above and one time or another...

  11. Never saw Mitch Mitchell or Hendrix - my one rock and roll regret. But you cant argue that Keith Moon is not as good as Bonham or Baker.. hell, they are all unbelievable
  12. Saw Ginger Baker play with Cream and Blind Faith--I went with John Bonham even though Ginger Baker's solo with Cream was unbelievable
  13. I thought he had a pretty inventive answer
  14. You got it, Wolfie. Problem with Americans is their tastes are so gauche - they dont recognize fine French cusisine when its right in front of 'em
  15. Lucky Man was a great cut. These guy merged classical music with rock, and they did it well
  16. I assure you, there could have been a lot worse guys than Valenti...

  21. ROCK REVIEW Eric Clapton at the Junction of Precision and Improvising By BEN RATLIFF Published: June 30, 2004 ..The core of the show, bracketed by old hits, was music from his new album, "Me and Mr. Johnson" (Reprise), the evenness had another dimension. The album is a tribute to Robert Johnson, and as recent blues scholarship has argued (particularly an insightful book called "Escaping the Delta" by Elijah Wald), Johnson did not particularly prize spontaneity. For the rest of the show, Mr. Clapton essentially ran laps around the track. Most of the set list came from his 2002 live album, "One More Car, One More Rider," with "Hoochie Coochie Man," "Layla," "Badge," "Wonderful Tonight" and "Cocaine." In the encores he had duets with the steel-guitarist Robert Randolph, the concert's opening act, on "Sunshine of Your Love" and "Got My Mojo Working." *** Also accompanying Clapton were, guitarist Doyle Bramhall II, drummer Steve Gadd, bassist Nathan East and keyboardists Chris Stainton and Tim Carmon.. You can read the full concert review here: http://www.nytimes.com/2004/06/30/arts/music/30CLAP.html
