  1. Ja Rule was a major part of the biggest festival that didn't happen - the Fyre Festival. The "Always On Time" rapper worked alongside Billy McFarland (who's serving six years in prison for fraud) in an attempt to deliver a music festival in the Bahamas that didn't happen and ended in a complete disaster. The whole event resulted in two documentaries to be released, Fyre Fraud and the Netflix-produced Fyre. Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images During Ja Rule's recent visit to Andy Cohen's Watch What Happens Live, the rapper was asked is if he'd streamed the docs yet and made it clear he had not. “I lived it, Andy… I’m good," he said, touching on his previous comments of the event being "false advertising" instead of fraud, he added: “I believe now, after everything unravelled, it was a little of both.” When asked if he'd stage another festival, Ja Rule made it clear that he's kind of already had a successful go at it. “Well, I mean, [Fyre] wasn’t my fault,” he explained. “Here’s the thing, Andy, I wanna do it the right way, the right partners. And here’s what I know: I have the biggest festival in the world, even if it never happened.” Peep the full clip below. View the full article
  2. Thirty years ago, Tinker Hatfield and Michael Jordan came together on the Air Jordan 4 which was the stylistic evolution of Hatfield's first effort with Jordan Brand, the Air Jordan 3. The shoe has been praised by sneakerheads over the years and when it first came out in 1989, it was released in four OG colorways. These models are "Military Blue," "Bred," "White Cement," and "Fire Red." Jordan Brand has been known to celebrate its history in the past and with this being the 30th anniversary of the Jordan 4, they are looking to do more of the same. Over the past couple of months, we have been showing you teasers of the Air Jordan 4 "What The" which is a mixture of the aforementioned OG colorways. The left and right shoes are mismatched which creates a dynamic aesthetic that will be immediately recognizable to the OG Jordan heads out there. Thanks to a new video from Jumpman, via @zsneakerheadz, we see an official pair of the shoe being worn by a model who tinkers with the lacing. The promotional video shows off all the little details of the shoe and if you're a Jordan fan, it's hard not to be just a little bit excited. These are dope and could very well be the coolest release of the year. View the full article
  3. Will Smith has been putting a smile on people's faces since 1986. His popular TV show, Fresh Prince of Bel Air aired between 1990 and 1996, but it's still being viewed till this day, due to platforms such as Netflix. Now, word on the street is that Will Smith is planning a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air spinoff. This is definitely good news for people that are still binge-watching the same episodes, as it will give them new episodes to rave about. In the past, Will Smith spoke about doing a reboot ''over his dead body'' even if his son Jaden was the lead role. Well, people change, just the as seasons-- and now Fresh Prince of Bel-Air spinoff rumours have moved from a vague whisper to a full-out report, thanks to THR. The actor is even promoting new merchandise from the show. Smith previously stated, "More than ever, I'm seeing my role in the world as a role of service," he said. "In my younger days, it was ambition. I wanted to win. I wanted to put points on the board. Now, I’m growing into a position in my life where the main question that I ask myself, before I do anything is, how is this of service to the human family. So, with that prism, I'll be making more and more decisions in my life." If we are to take his word for it, then the reboot is not a scheme to generate profit, but simply a way to service millions of viewers. Are you excited about the Fresh Prince of Bel Air spinoff? 4. Is anybody keeping track of how many women YoungBoy Never Broke Again has dated this year? We know the 19-year-old rapper is popular but he's been bagging pretty much everybody, recruiting a gaggle of baddies to stay at his crib. At this point, it's no surprise that there are about a thousand ladies running around the country with tattoos of his face on their skin. After previously being linked to Floyd Mayweather's daughter, NBA YoungBoy is stepping out with a new girl after the release of his fresh mixtape AI YoungBoy 2. Earlier today, the Louisiana-bred emcee released a new project -- his first since being released from prison -- and now he's introducing us to the new lady on his arm. To some fans, she looked a little familiar and after doing some research, it turns out that she was previously dating another famous rapper. The Shade Room picked up a story about NBA YoungBoy and his potential new boo, who he was pictured getting cozy with on social media. After looking into the girl's own profile though, they realized that she actually used to get down with Kodak Black. As you know, both Kodak and YoungBoy have complicated legal histories so, clearly, she has a thing for bad boys. With nearly half-a-million followers, the artist and social media personality goes by Dej_RoseGold online and was previously seen leaving loving comments on Kodak Black's page. At one point, the two even claimed that they loved each other. Neither she nor YB have confirmed that they're actually dating but we'll keep an eye on them to see if they're the real deal. 5. Birdman has taken serious measures to dodge a $1 million judgment owed to a former employee who sued the rapper for not paying his wages. As we previously posted, the Cash Money Records mogul was sued by Nicolas Jose Penzo who worked as Birdman's property manager from 2015 until 2017. Nicolas claimed he would only get paid every two or three months either by cheques or cash but Birdman never paid for overtime wages and sometimes skipped paydays completely. “The Defendant gave me several checks which were returned from his bank for insufficient funds and currently owes me $30,000 in unpaid wages, not including overtime,” Nicolas stated at the time. Earl Gibson III/Getty Images Since the "Cap Talk" rapper didn't show to court, Nicolas was awarded $1 million but is having trouble getting his money once again. The Blast now reports that Birdman has closed all seven of his bank accounts with Citibank in August as a way to dodge them being seized. Nicolas sent subpoenas to the bank, demanding they hand over his cash but they responded with the following: “Citibank has no tangible or intangible personal property of the Defendants.” As of right now, Nicolas will have to check into other options on how to get his coin. 6. New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson has drawn comparisons to plenty of NBA stars since he burst onto the scene in High School, ranging from LeBron James to NBA Hall of Famers such as Charles Barkley and Dominique Wilkins. These are certainly unfair expectations to put on a 19-year old kid, but Zion has shown no signs of letting that pressure effect his game. In the Pelicans most recent preseason game, the former Blue Devil racked up 29 points on 12-of-13 shooting (all in the paint) to go along with four assists and four rebounds in 27 minutes of action. And as he continues to thrive against NBA competition, those superstar comparisons will continue to surface. On Thursday, ESPN's Stephen A. Smith floated the name of yet another Hall of Famer who didn't waste any time establishing himself as an All-Star. Says Smith, "I think that Zion's rookie year, to some degree, is going to mirror Shaquille O'Neal." Specifically, Smith pointed to the fact that he expects Zion to get up 16 shots per game and many of those will be dunks, just the way Shaq was able to throw his weight around in explosive fashion. Of course, Shaq did way more than just dunk during his Rookie of the Year campaign in the 1992-93 season. In addition to averaging 23.4 points, The Diesel posted career highs in rebounds and blocks per game in his first NBA season with 13.9 and 3.5, respectively. Check out the video below to catch Stephen A's thoughts about Zion potentially having a Shaq-like rookie season. View the full article
