  1. The REFORM Alliance, a criminal justice reform organization partnered by Jay-Z and Meek Mill, is sending 100,000 masks to correctional facilities across the U.S. Nicholas Hunt / Getty Images "It's a very vulnerable population," chief advocacy officer at REFORM Jessica Jackson told CBS News. "We're really worried about the number of people coming in and out of the facility, and the fact that the people living there might be sitting ducks during this pandemic." Prisons, especially in New York City, are at great risk to the coronavirus. 231 inmates and 223 staff members at New York City jails have tested positive for COVID-19, as of Thursday. Jackson says officials in New York City and Tennessee are interested in helping inmates but lack the supplies to do so. "Overwhelmingly the response was, 'please provide the masks, we really need them.' They want to protect the people working and living in the facilities," Jackson said. "I think Rikers Island especially, they are very aware the virus has hit and so many lives are now at risk." "We're still looking at jail and prison populations that are completely overcrowded to dangerous levels when you're looking at a pandemic like this head-on," she added. "This is a movement, but we need all of the voices we can get." Many prisons are releasing inmates to combat overcrowding issues. You can read more about the issue on The REFORM Alliance's website. 2. Call Me by Your Name director Luca Guadagnino says both Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer will reprise their roles as Oliver and Elio for a sequel to the 2017 film. Joe Scarnici / Getty Images Guadagnino told the Italian publication la Repubblica that the film had started production before the COVID-19 outbreak but is now on hold. "Before coronavirus, I made a trip to the United States to meet a screenwriter I love very much, whose name I don’t want to say, to talk about the second part. Unfortunately, we had to put it on hold," he said. "Of course, it was a great pleasure to work with Timothée Chalamet, Armie Hammer, Michael Stuhlbarg, Esther Garrel and the other actors. Everyone will be in the new movie." The film will likely be based on Find Me, the sequel to the book that Call Me By Your Name is based on. Find Me, written by André Aciman, was released in 2019. Call Me By Your Name won the 2017 Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and was nominated for a number of other awards. Chalamet will appear in Wes Anderson’s upcoming film, The French Dispatch, which has been delayed until October. He is also in talks to star as Bob Dylan in an upcoming biopic. 3. Joe Rogan is trending on Twitter following a podcast with Eric Weinstein, where Rogan remarks that he'd rather vote for Donald Trump than Joe Biden. Alex Trautwig / Getty Images “I’d rather vote for Trump than [Biden],” says Rogan. “I don’t think [Biden] can handle anything. You’re relying entirely on his cabinet. If you want to talk about an individual leader who can communicate, he can’t do that. And we don’t know what the fuck he’ll be like after a year in office. “The pressure of being president of the United States is something that no one has ever prepared for. The only one who seems to be fine with it is Trump, oddly enough.” Throughout the segment, Rogan and Weinstein speak about Biden's problematic mental health, which seems to be deteriorating as this campaign goes on. Many Dem-alignment Twitter users are using Rogan's quote to further the mainstream narrative that he's a conservative, while others are opining that Rogan is the exact type of swing-voter that the Dems need to win over, rather than alienate. Rogan found himself trending for political reasons earlier this year when he endorsed Bernie Sanders for president. Traditional Dems labeled Rogan a bigot in response. Check out some of the reaction on Twitter below. View the full article
  4. Uber is pledging 10 million free rides and deliveries of food to healthcare workers, seniors, and others in need. Peter Summers / Getty Images The company announced the decision on its website. "Uber Health is providing free transportation for frontline healthcare workers, helping them get to and from patients’ homes, as well as between healthcare facilities... We’re providing free meals on Uber Eats to first responders and healthcare workers in US and Canada, in coordination with local, state, and provincial governments." The company will also be transporting goods with Uber Freight: "While the federal government's emergency declaration is in place, shipments of critical goods in the US will be transported with zero profit pricing by Uber Freight," the website reads The delivery fee for orders completed through Uber Eats has been removed for restaurants across the US and Canada. A spokesperson says Uber is “working to distribute these meals and rides at scale in the coming months and tailor the offering based on the most pressing, local needs,” a spokesperson said. “And we’re covering the costs associated with delivering food, meals and rides: including free Eats meals, the cost of the ride or delivery of food from a food bank, payments to the drivers and couriers, etc.” [Via] View the full article
  5. One of the businesses hit hardest by the COVID-19 outbreak is the concert industry. Without the ability to gather in large groups, effectively all concerts have been canceled. A new study from Pollstar shows that loses could reach upwards of $9 billion for the concert industry if things don't return to normal, fast. Alexandre Schneider / Getty Images “Estimating what might have been lost obviously depends on when the business rebounds,” the study reads, “but if the rest of the year is dark – which is a worst-case scenario and certainly not expected – the potential $12.2 billion yearly estimate minus the grosses from all the shows completed before cancellations and postponements places potential losses for the remainder of the year right at $8.9 billion.” Total losses could be “much less, about $2.3 billion, if touring is possible as early as late-May,” the study continues. “And if quarantines continue through the summer, say, late-August, industry losses could total about $5.2 billion in just missed ticket sales alone.” As of now, there is no definite answer as to when the world will return to business as usual. President Trump hopes by the end of April, while other suggest this could go on for as long as a year. Either way, the concert industry will struggle throughout. [Via] View the full article

  7. The NBA is planning a H-O-R-S-E that will involve several "high-profile players" who will complete from separate locations, to stay in line with social distancing. Stacy Revere / Getty Images ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski broke the story on Twitter, Saturday. "The NBA and ESPN are working on televising a H-O-R-S-E competition involving several high-profile players, sources say," Woj wrote. "Players would shoot in isolation – presumably in home gyms – and match shots against competitors. Details are still being finalized." It is appearing more and more likely that the NBA 2019/20 season will not return and effectively be canceled. ESPN's Brian Windhorst explained where the league is at on Sportscenter, Friday. "It is clear that the NBA is angling to set up a deal that enables them to shut the season down," Windhorst said Friday on SportsCenter. "They don’t have to do that yet. The way they’re negotiating, they’re leaving an option either way. But they’re not having talks about how to restart the league. They’re having financial talks [regarding player salaries] about what would happen if the season shuts down. I think there’s a significant amount of pessimism." As for the NFL, President Donald Trump told sports commissioners, Saturday, that he expects the league will be able to run as scheduled. [Via] View the full article
  8. Nike's largest warehouse, which is located in Memphis, Tennessee, halted production, on Thursday, after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. David Ramos / Getty Images “The health and safety of our team is always our first priority. We have temporarily closed one of our Memphis, TN, distribution facilities. During this period, we will be conducting a comprehensive disinfection process," the company said in a statement sent to local outlet MLK50. The warehouse is aiming for a quick return, ending the statement by setting a reopen date scheduled for April 5: "We are targeting to reopen at 6 a.m. Sunday, April 5.” In 2019, the warehouse employed an estimated 3,200 full-time employees according to the Memphis Business Journal. Nike has donated over $17 million to COVID-19 relief efforts. On April 3, the company announced an additional $1.6 million would go given out to those in need. “When it comes to giving, our response is focused on the communities where our employees live and work,” said Jorge Casimiro, Nike’s chief social and impact officer. “We are doing an additional wave of $1.6 million focused in key cities, our employees’ backyards around the world.” The New York Times estimates the current unemployment rate to sit at 13% country-wide following the outbreak of COVID-19. 9. Jeezy appeared on MSNBC to speak with the station's resident hip hop head Ari Melber about politics and sounded off on how President Donald Trump is handling the COVID-19 pandemic. Greg Doherty / Getty Images "For me, I've seen those type of people in my life. Trump, he's one-of-a-kind, 'cause it takes a different type of leader to make things about him," he says at the 5:30 mark. "I feel like a lot of times you see his ego. Right now, you know, it's about the people. To me, you talking about 'Make America Great.' We gon' make America greater than it's ever been with or without him. He gotta understand that. We are the people. You are one person and we get it. But this is not about you right now. We all in this together. You know, all of us. We have to make this about us, not about [Trump]." Melber also asks Jeezy about what it meant to be shouted out by former President Barack Obama. "Everything man," he responds. "Coming from where I came from. My trials and tribes. My humble beginnings. Not only because of who he is but the way he did it. That let me know, at one of those correspondents dinners, that let me know that he heard my message." Jeezy released his new album, Twenty/20 Pyrex Vision, on March 27. [Via] View the full article

  11. In celebration of his 24th birthday, Fredo Bang has shared a new single. The rapper spent his day social distancing like the rest of the world but made sure to not only receive gifts for his big day, but to deliver one in the form of music for his fans. His forthcoming album Most Hated has been met with delays as it was rumored that the record was supposed to hit streaming services last week. Fredo Bang recently shared that the project will be available on April 17, so make sure to keep an ear out for that. Meanwhile, in addition to Fredo sharing new music, he also delivered the song's visual. The music video is stripped of luxury vehicles, scantily clad women, private jets, and stacks of cash—the usual quadruple threat in rap videos. Instead, Fredo Bang highlights himself in the studio as he stands under red lights and in front of a mic, passionately delivering "Trust Issues." Give the single a spin and let us know what you think. 12. It seemed as if Lil Nas X stole the show on Friday (April 3), but not because of anything related to his music career. The young star took over 2019 with "Old Town Road" and recently he grabbed attention once again with a series of photos. Lil Nas X is shown in pastel colors, adorned with flowers, or wearing a corset for his Guardian Weekend magazine's photoshoot, and there were plenty of people who had something to say about the pictures. Akademiks didn't skip a beat at sharing his thoughts which included a mention of Young Thug. Akademiks retweeted the four images and added his own caption. "Young Thug walked so Lil Nas X could run," he wrote, referencing Thugger's Alessandro Trincone dress that he wore on the cover of his 2016 mixtape Jeffrey. Some believed Akademiks was taking a jab at Lil Nas X's sexuality, although the social commentator didn't actually say anything about the rapper about being gay or effeminate. However, Lil Nas X can not only take a joke, but he can deliver them, as well. He retweeted Akademiks with a quip of his own. "Just say i look cute bro u don’t gotta do all this," Lil Nas X replied. Check out the photos and the brief exchange between the two below. View the full article

  17. Even as we quarantine under strict "Stay At Home" orders, new cases of COVID-19 are being documented. We've read stories about people who lost their lives to the illness and others who seemed to have recovered without issue. As researchers attempt to quell coronavirus, singer P!nk has come forward with news that weeks ago both she and her young son tested positive. Ari Perilstein / Stringer / Getty Images "Two weeks ago my three-year-old son, Jameson, and I were showing symptoms of COVID-19," the singer wrote in an Instagram post. "Fortunately, our primary care physician had access to tests and I tested positive. My family was already sheltering at home and continued to do so for the last two weeks following the instruction of our doctor. Just a few days ago we were re-tested and are now thankfully negative." The singer went on to criticize the American government for not making tests freely available to the public. "It is an absolute travesty and failure of our government to not make testing more widely accessible," Pink continued. "This illness is serious and real. People need to know that the illness affects the young and old, healthy and unhealthy, rich and poor, and we must make testing free and more widely accessible to protect our children, our families, our friends and our communities." Pink also stated that she's donating "$500,000 to the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Emergency COVID-19 Crisis Fund" and thanked healthcare workers for their tireless efforts. Recently, Scott Storch went up against Mannie Fresh in an epic Instagram Live battle. Storch ended up taking the crown, and in the list of tracks that he played for fans during the friendly head-to-head competition was "Cry Me a River." Storch produced the song and J.T. has been hailed as a powerhouse for delivering the vocals solo, but there were certain parts sung by Soul singer Marsha Ambrosius. Fans of R&B will remember Marsha from her soulful duo Floetry, but the veteran entertainer has had a long-standing career both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. The internet was ablaze this week after it was revealed that the high-pitched "cry me, cry me" ad-libs weren't performed by Justin, at all. Marsha was responsible for the vocals and fans had a meltdown at the revelation. This isn't something that anyone has kept a secret, and Marsha even spoke about her addition to the track years ago. The song earned a Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance back in 2003, making the award Marsha's first. Check out a few stunned reactions about Marsha and Justin below. View the full article
