  1. Grocery stores are still trying to keep up with the needs of the public, even weeks into the global quarantine. Many citizens, especially those in the United States, are struggling to find basic household items due to people hoarding food and necessities. Some grocery chains have implemented strategies to help select groups that they believe are at a greater need, including senior citizens. Stores have launched "seniors only" hours in the mornings before the general public can have access, and Tyler Perry made sure that elders had one less bill to worry about after he paid for their groceries. Paul R. Giunta / Stringer / Getty Images The media mogul continues to put his money where his mouth is during this COVID-19 pandemic. Recently, Perry coughed up $21K in tips for out-of-work servers at Houston's restaurant in the ATL, and he's back with another generous offering. According to a tweet from the Kroger grocery store chain, Perry connected with multiple stores in the Atlanta area to help seniors. The wrote, " @tylerperry paid it forward and purchased groceries for nearly 3,000 senior shoppers today at Kroger stores across Atlanta. You can see how much this means by the look on their faces. Thank you, Tyler, for your generosity! ." According to reports, Perry also made a similar move in his home state of Lousiana when he purchased groceries at Winn-Dixie markets for the elderly in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. 16. Ja Morant was killing it in his first year in the NBA, prior to the suspension of the season due to the Coronavirus. If and when the league resumes, Morant's Memphis Grizzlies will be in a playoff spot which is something no one would have predicted at the beginning of the season. With that being said, Morant has been impressing a lot of people, including some of the most well-established artists in the entire world. On a recent episode of the "All The Smoke" podcast, Lil Wayne praised Morant for being one of the best young players in the entire league. Morant was made aware of this praise and took to Twitter with one word: "Love." Clearly, Morant was surprised by the shoutout although he was incredibly happy to receive it, nonetheless. Morant was also making a great case for himself to win rookie of the year honors. If the league does, in fact, resume, Morant will surely be a lock for the award. While one could make the case for Zion Williamson, the Pelicans star only played less than half the season, while Morant would have played a full campaign. This fact alone should go a long way in deciding who gets the ROTY honor. Regardless, it's clear that Morant is already having a huge impact on the sport. View the full article

  18. If the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent state of global quarantine have taught us anything, it's that sometimes we must find joys in life's little pleasure. Despite things seemingly going to hell in a handbasket on a ground level, lest we forget that the vast expanses of space above us have remained untouched by the eternal pain-in-the-ass that is COVID-19. Dan Kitwood/Getty Images As such, it has been a place of respite for stargazers and dreamers alike, especially considering that tonight is set to be the biggest supermoon of 2020 -- provided Kodak Black doesn't attempt to break that record. For those unaware, a supermoon occurs when the moon's orbit cycle brings it within "close" proximity to the Earth, relatively speaking. As such, the supermoon will appear to be both bigger and brighter than usual, making it an exciting visual for those of us interested in the greater mysteries of the universe. Should you be interested in sneaking a peek at the supermoon, you can catch that by braving the great outdoors (while making sure to respect proper social distancing guidelines) at approximately 10:35 pm EST. Apparently, the supermoon will be at peak visibility until about midnight, so set your timers accordingly. Sometimes it bodes well to remember that there are bigger things than us out there in the world, and a little bit of perspective can sometimes be the best remedy. [via] View the full article
  19. Just a few months ago, the Coronavirus was something that no American was worried about. It was simply a phenomenon that was happening abroad. Of course, things have drastically changed all around the world as most countries are under lockdown. People are being told to stay indoors so they don't get infected or infect other people. Over a million people have tested positive for the virus and thousands have died. With that being said, healthcare workers are desperate for protective equipment that can help prevent being infected by patients. Nike is now joining the fight to help healthcare workers as they are manufacturing face shields and respirator lenses. These items are being made using materials that Nike would have used to make apparel and sneakers. According to Miko Enomoto, M.D., an associate professor of anesthesiology and perioperative medicine at the Oregon Health & Science University, these items will go a long way to help all of the healthcare workers out there. Image via Nike “Without proper facial protection, healthcare workers are at a higher risk of contracting the virus, which could place substantial strain on the healthcare workforce in the months ahead,” Enomoto said. “The full-face shields help protect healthcare workers’ faces and also help to prolong the length we can safely use a surgical or N95 mask. Nike’s generous response to the COVID-19 crisis helps to instill an added layer of confidence and support for healthcare workers, that we can safely carry out the jobs we were born to do.” This is Nike's latest effort in combatting COVID-19. Recently, they announced their highest-ranking officials would be donating $15 million to relief efforts. Clearly, Nike is taking this seriously. [Via] View the full article
  20. There are many hip-hop heads who love the WWE but perhaps none of them love the sport of wrestling as much as Smoke DZA. Sure, there are plenty of rappers who've expressed their enthusiasm about wrestling. However, Smoke DZA has an entire mixtape series dedicated to those who enjoy wrestling just as much as he does. The Ringside series is now a staple in his discography and today, he unleashed the eighth installment. Strapped up with a quick five tracks, the rapper takes on some sample-based production handled entirely by 183rd to flex his vernacular with sprinkles of WWE references to kick off the project. Oh, and he gets Peter Rosenberg to kick things off with a short intro at the beginning. Peep the project below. View the full article
  21. It's finally on the way! It's almost time for Sony and Microsoft to release the latest generations of their video gaming consoles. While the exact release details are jumbled because of the current state of the world, Sony is moving forward with their heads held high, introducing some huge news about the upcoming PlayStation 5 today. The official controller has finally been unveiled by Sony and, oh boy, it's looking pretty sleek. The new design is primarily white with black on the underside. The L2 and R2 buttons are black while the shape of the controller has changed a lot. The gamepad design is now free of color, going all-white. Much like the PlayStation 4, the new DualShock will also be wireless. Tomohiro Ohsumi/Getty Images Now that this announcement is out of the way, it's up to Microsoft to make the next move. This isn't exactly checkmate, but the reveal certainly has gamers excited about further news regarding the PlayStation 5. The new console was originally believed to be aiming for a release in time for the 2020 Holiday Season. However, with everything that's going on right now, that much is unclear. Are you a fan of the new DualShock design or do you prefer the look of the PS4 controller? View the full article
  22. The rise of Toronto's 88GLAM only strengthened the XO roster but fans became widely concerned over the status of the group in 2020. A subreddit dedicated to 88GLAM recently speculated that they've split up. In addition to rumors that there's an internal conflict between Derek Wise and 88Camino, the internet was immediately fueled with rumors that they had been dropped by both XO and Republic Records. Of course, all of these problems combined would mean that we wouldn't receive their follow-up to 88GLAM 2. With an April 17th release date previously set, we've finally received some sort of response surrounding the status of their next project. Via HNHH Coronavirus has officially impeded the release of Close To Heaven Far From God. The group relayed the message via Instagram earlier today, stating that they wouldn't be able to properly roll out the project. "We hope everyone is keeping safe and well during this horrific, unprecedented time. Due to recent global events and all touring/festival cancellations, we have decided to delay our album release," the message reads. "We wanted to release it during a time that would not compromise our roll out strategy. Cant wait to see all of our fans and go offfff to the new music." Some people took this as a good sign while others appeared to further question the status of the duo. However, it should be noted that there has been a screenshot of an alleged conversation with 88GLAM's day-to-day manager Melody who confirmed that things are all good between them and that they are steadily cooking up. 23. Youngboy Never Broke Again always has some dramatic stuff happening in his life. Whether he's clashing with one of his many baby mamas or hurling threats at Kodak Black, the 20-year-old Baton Rouge native is pretty entertaining to keep track of. Without a filter, you can expect anything to come out of NBA Youngboy's mouth next. Nothing is off-limits. During his rant directly following his girlfriend Yaya Mayweather's arrest this weekend, the rapper called her dad, championship boxer Floyd Mayweather, a "bitch ass n***a." Paras Griffin/Getty Images It turns out that he's not the only person in his family that has a temper. During a live-stream on Instagram, the star's mother chimed in about all the hate her son has been getting. "Don't talk about my child because, guess what, that's a grown-ass man over there," said Youngboy's mother on video. "And I promise you I don't want my child running behind nobody, going to look for nobody, or none of that. I don't want my child doing none of that. But I'm telling this to any motherfucking body. If you go at him and if you go to him, he better let every motherfucking bullet out." If you ever wondered where Youngboy Never Broke Again got his aggression from, this might be it. Like mother, like son. View the full article
  24. Given that the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has yet to show any signs of letting up, barring the best efforts of one Martin Shkreli, it's been feeling like an increasingly dangerous time to be alive. Not only are we forced to contend with a potentially fatal virus, but also a rapidly crashing economy, the maddening throes of cabin fever, and a disturbing increase in people weaponizing their bodily fluids. Today, TMZ has highlighted an unsettling act committed by a Baltimore police sergeant, who deemed it appropriate conduct to cough on a woman heckling his appearance. "Hey officer Friendly with the cherry cheeks," begins the woman, only to be met with a barrage of phlegmy-sounding coughs from the officer in question. Naturally, the incident has proceeded to gain attention, prompting a response from Baltimore PD spokeswoman Lindsey Eldridge "We have viewed the video, in its entirety, and believe it warranted being forwarded to the Public Integrity Bureau for an internal investigation," she explains, though TMZ claims that the Sargeant remains on active duty as of now. It should also be noted that it's as of yet unclear whether the offending Sargeant was ever tested for COVID-19 to begin with -- either way, such reckless behavior is not only in poor taste, but quite possibly dangerous on a variety of levels. Check out the video below, and sound off in the comment section. [via] View the full article
  25. Lil Wayne is one of the greatest rappers of all time and when he isn't writing new songs and recording new music, he can be found watching live sports. Basketball is easily one of his favorites and it is well-documented that he is a huge fan of the Los Angeles Lakers. Recently, Wayne went on the "All The Smoke" podcast with Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes where he spoke about his love of Kobe Bryant and a whole range of other topics. Sticking to sports, Wayne was asked about who are some of his favorite players in the NBA right now. As a Lakers fan, Wayne made sure to acknowledge LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the entire Lakers bench. From there, he spoke about a plethora of veteran players, as well as some young guns were thrown into the mix. The aforementioned veterans were Chris Paul, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook. From there, Wayne spoke about two of the league's standout rookies, Ja Morant and Zion Williamson. Wayne was particularly impressed by Ja Morant who was making the Memphis Grizzlies look like a bonafide playoff team. With Wayne's comments in mind, it's clear that he is paying attention to the next generation of players. If you get name-dropped by Wayne, you must be doing something right. View the full article
