  1. As he and Brittany Bell relish in the joy of welcoming a new baby into the world, Nick Cannon was spotted hanging out with model and photographer LaNisha Nicole. Recently, Nick's ex Jessica White sat down for an interview where she detailed the demise of their six-year romance. According to the supermodel, she and Cannon were living together and planning on having children when she found out on Instagram that Bell was expecting her second child with Cannon. Ultimately, White and Cannon went their separate ways and over the holidays, Cannon and Bell shared family-filled photos of their brood. On Wednesday (January 13), LaNisha shared on her Instagram Story that she and Cannon were spending time together in New York City as he added to his growing collection of tattoos. The pair looked close as Cannon is seen with a grin on his face as he leaned in close to the model, causing the public to speculate about their relationship. There have been reports that these two are dating, however, neither Cannon nor LaNisha has confirmed that they're in a relationship. Hollywood Unlocked also reports that LaNisha may have gotten some ink of her own after posting photos of a "King Cannon" tattoo. Check out the posts below along with more from LaNisha Nicole, including her appearance in the music video for Pharrell's "Frontin'" featuring Jay-Z. View the full article
  2. Brooklyn set the tone in 2020. The rise of Brooklyn drill officially proliferated into the sound of hip-hop at large but even pop music was adapting to it as well. Of course, Pop Smoke's a definitive artist to the genre but Sheff G is a founding father of sorts. 2020 was an incredible year for him that saw the release of two new project, One And Only and Proud Of Me Now. Young AP is an artist that appeared on the tracklist for Proud Of Me Now and it appears that Sheff G is now returning the favor. The two rappers connect for their new collaboration, "Drill Tonight." Over guitar-based production, Young AP comes through with the melodic delivery while Sheff's triplet flows cut through. Check out the song below. 3. If you've been following Akademiks' live stream in recent times, several budding Toronto stars have begun getting cozy with the hip-hop personality. He's hosted the likes of Pressa, Chromazz, and even Chair Girl but somehow, Top5 is easily becoming the biggest star out of these Twitch streams. He's using the recent social media infamy to his benefit, as well, with the release of his latest single, "2 Cases." The song emphasizes his disrespectful nature with a bar that seems to pay homage to Gucci Mane's infamous "dig your patna up" bar. Top5 has been a growing name out of the 6ix over the past few years, largely due to a co-sign from Drake. In recent times, he's released several big hits such as "Steppaz" and "Head Of Me" alongside WhyG. Check out Top5's new single below. 4. On August 23, 2020, police officers responding to a call about a "domestic incident" arrived at a Kenosha, Wisconsin home. Witnesses reported that several women were engaged in an altercation while police claimed a woman called complaining that her boyfriend had taken her keys. When officers arrived, Jacob Blake was at the scene with his children in the car. The incident reportedly escalated—and depending on who you ask, the story changes regarding how that occurred—and after Blake was hit with a taser by cops, police claim he had a knife and was moving in a threatening manner. As he leaned inside of his car, Blake was shot seven times in the back, leaving him paralyzed. Scott Olson / Staff / Getty Images Recently, Kenosha County District Attorney Mike Graveley announced that officer Rusten Sheskey, the person responsible for shooting Blake, wouldn't be charged for the incident as it was a justified use of force. Immediately following Blake's shooting, Kenosha's streets were a staple for Black Lives Matter protests, including one where then-17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse reportedly shot three people, killing two. Blake, who was released from the hospital not long ago, recently spoke with Michael Strahan for Good Morning America where he relived that harrowing moment when he was shot in front of his children. "All I remember at that point was kinda leanin' back, lookin' at my boys," said Blake. "I said, 'Daddy love you no matter what.' It was the last thing I said to them at that point." "I thought it was gonna be the last thing I say to them," he continued. "Thank God it wasn't." Check out a clip of Jacob Blake's interview with GMA below and tune in tomorrow for the full discussion. 5. Donald Trump is running out of social media platforms to turn to. Last week's insurrection on Capitol Hill, which left five people dead, has gotten the president impeached. Twitter removed him before other tech giants followed with the latest being Snapchat. A rep for Snap confirmed that they will be permanently banning Trump from the platform in the "interest of public safety." David Becker/Getty Images Trump's now no longer allowed to use Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, as well, and YouTube recently revealed that they'd be suspending his page for a week for a video that they said is in violation of its policies prohibiting the encouragement of violence. This all stems from the riot as well as his poor handling of the situation. “Last week we announced an indefinite suspension of President Trump’s Snapchat account, and have been assessing what long-term action is in the best interest of our Snapchat community,” a Snapchat rep said in a statement to Variety. “In the interest of public safety, and based on his attempts to spread misinformation, hate speech, and incite violence, which are clear violations of our guidelines, we have made the decision to permanently terminate his account.” Trump's account was initially suspended last week but the latest development from the company reveals thathis account will be terminated come Inauguration Day on Jan. 20th. 6. Yesterday (January 12), YouTube shared in a statement that the most recent video posted to President Donald Trump's channel had been taken down by the platform. The world has witnessed the censorship of Trump following the insurrection at America's capital last Wednesday (January 6) as Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Reddit, and even Pinterest have cut him off. The president has been blamed for the violence at the Capitol that resulted in the deaths of five people, including a police officer that was beaten with a fire extinguisher. YouTube was one of the last platforms for Trump, but they've reportedly put their foot down. Eduardo Munoz Alvarez / Stringer / Getty Images "After careful review, and in light of concerns about the ongoing potential for violence, we removed new content uploaded to the Donald J. Trump channel and issued a strike for violating our policies for inciting violence," a YouTube spokesperson said in a statement. "As a result, in accordance with our long-standing strikes system, the channel is now prevented from uploading new videos or livestreams for a minimum of seven days—which may be extended." Unlike the other platforms, Trump can resume posting in a week but it may be short-lived—not because he'll get the boot in the future. Trump previously stated that after his personal account was wiped from Twitter, he's working on possibly building an app where his supporters can congregate with ease. 9. It's been a few years since we've received a new project from Belly. However, it seems that he's back on pace with a new album set to drop this year. Belly took to Twitter earlier today revealing that his new album is complete now that he's received the approval from his bosses. "Before I officially close out an album, there’s two people I play it for to get the seal of approval. Hov and Abel. That being said, I can officially say the album is done #seeyounextwednesday#SYNW," he tweeted earlier today. Belly is signed to The Weeknd's XO imprint and Jay-Z's Roc Nation. The XO songwriter and MC was on a hiatus for a bit, revealing in an open letter in 2020 that he was dealing with his own set of personal issues that have prevented him from fulfilling his duties as an artist. He revealed that he had undergone therapy, both mental and physical, preventing him from touring. "Emotionally, mentally, and physically, I was rock bottom. I crashed and burned. The only silver lining in this whole situation is that UP is the only direction left to go. This shit is all I got, if anything can bring me back from the ashes; it's music, my family & my fans," he said. "I'm only saying this to say: I won't lay down an die... see you next Wednesday." His next album, presumably titled See You Next Wednesday, doesn't have a release date set but we'll keep you posted on any updates. View the full article
  10. Rowdy Rebel has been making the rounds since his triumphant release from prison last month. We've yet to receive new music from the rapper but still, we know he's putting in work. Funk Flex previously debuted his "First Day Out" freestyle and with Bobby's potential release around the corner, perhaps he's waiting to come out full force. There's been several clips of Rowdy Rebel cooking up in the studio so we do know that he's putting in work. His influence in Brooklyn isn't up for debate with plenty of artists in the Brooklyn drill scene openly crediting Bobby Shrmuda and Rowdy Rebel. A few weeks ago, Fivio Foreign and Rowdy Rebel were both spotted cooking up some new music. It looks like we might be able to anticipate something from Sheff G, as well. A video of Rowdy and Sheff G linking up has made rounds on social media, prompting demand for collaboration. Sheff G is among the new generation of rappers that came after Rowdy Rebel and Bobby Shmurda. In a 2019 interview with the Proud Of Me Now rapper, he told HNHH about the impact of hearing Shmurda for the first time. "The first one I heard was “Hot N***a”. That’s the first one I heard. It was blowing up, it was lit because it was just a real lit time. It was summer, everything was just fucking lit," he explained. "That’s the life everybody was really living. What he was talking about, everybody was really living that type of life." View the full article
  11. She's been grinding for years, building her internet popularity as an artist before her 2017 breakout hit "ICY GRL" began to make waves, and now Saweetie is relishing in her moment. The USC alum is preparing for the release of her anticipated album Pretty B*tch Music, and she's been making moves that landed her on Forbes's coveted "30 Under 30" list. Recently, Saweetie flaunted her latest major purchase, a private jet, and while she's been building her own success, she spoke with The Real about why, as a woman in the rap game, she felt the need to keep her relationship with Quavo under wraps when they first got together. Frazer Harrison / Staff / Getty Images When she previously appeared on The Real, Saweetite was hush-hush about her budding relationship with Quavo and wouldn't tell the hosts who she was seeing. “I do admit in the beginning it was difficult because as a woman, especially a woman in Hip Hop, they’re always trying to credit a man for a woman’s success, which is why I kind of tip-toed around the relationship," said the rapper. "That’s why I gave y’all the answer I gave back in the day. Now, I’m just continuing to persevere with success and just consistency. The relationship it just is what it is now." "We love each other. We support each other. We give each other advice. So, it’s nice." Saweetie added with a laugh, "It’s cute and it’s relationship-y.” Check out her appearance on The Real below. View the full article
  12. The House of Representatives officially voted to impeach Donald Trump earlier today for inciting an insurrection on Capitol Hill on Jan. 6th. It came after Nancy Pelosi offered Mike Pence two choices: invoke the 25th Amendment or move forward with the impeachment. The impeachment is the first part of the battle but clearly, people are content with the fact that it's happening in the first place, especially due to the amount of pushback from other Republicans. Cardi B, a vocal opponent of the current administration, didn't say much except reiterate a point she made in an interview with Vogue in 2019 when she was asked who her least favorite president is. "The one that's going to get impeached. The third one that's going to get impeached," she said in the clip. "I been told yaaa," she captioned the post. Of course, this interview was taped before Trump's first impeachment trial in 2020. Following the riot on Capitol, Cardi B actually stated that she didn't want Trump impeached but only because he has a few days left. Instead, she hoped criminal charges would be laid against him that could put him behind bars. The impeachment will prevent him from running for office in the future so that's at least a start. Regardless, it looks like Trump will be finishing up his term as president. View the full article
  13. 50 Cent's made quite the name for himself as a television executive. His transition from music into TV did not happen overnight but the slow grind has proven to be quite fruitful. On top of the expanding Power universe, which just wrapped up the first season of its first spin-off show, he's getting ready to begin filming his upcoming drama based on the Black Mafia Family. Astrid Stawiarz/Getty Images Earlier today, the rapper revealed new additions to the show's cast including Wood Harris, who will take on the role of Pat, the OG who puts Big Meech and Southwest T. The role of Demetrius "Big Meech" Flenory will go to none other than his son, Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr., who will make his acting debut on the show. Da'Vinchi takes on the role of Meech's brother, Terry "Southwest T" Flenory, who was released from prison last year. 50 Cent previously unveiled cast members of the show with Russell Hornsby, Steve Harris, and Kash Doll. The show is set to begin filming later this month in Detroit and Atlanta. Fif's dominating in television right now. He's currently producing For Life on ABC, another successful show to add to his resume. At the beginning of the month, he released the season finale of Power Book II: Ghostand is currently getting ready to launch Power Book III: Raising Kanan. View the full article
  14. Azealia Banks accessed a different level of collective shock from people after she published two since-deleted (or reported) videos of herself digging up the remains of her deceased cat and boiling them before creating a shrine display out of its skull. Revealing she's packing up to move out of her Los Angeles home, she added she has all the intention of taking the remnants of her deceased companion with her. Theo Wargo/Getty Images for Firefly Music Festival "Lucifer 2009-2020. My Dear kitty," she wrote as her caption. "Thank you for everything. A legend. An icon. Forever a serval serve." After proceeding to then cook the remains of her cat, who passed away three months ago when she initially buried it, the "212" rapper finally posted a picture of the finished product: her cat's skull hanging on the wall. In the series of disturbing videos shared on Tuesday morning, the 29-year-old also revealed she would be taking the memorabilia with her as she moves out of her Woodland Hills, Los Angeles home down to Miami. “The cat went out with a f ––king bang... taking my b–– ch to Miami,” she said while showing off the shrine that includes the cat's skull, peacock feathers, a bottle of Champagne, a $100 bill, and a bottle of Chanel No. 5 perfume. The ritual arrived as Banks readies to move from her current four-bedroom, two-bathroom home in the Woodland Hills area of California. Banks purchased the home in March 2016 for $850,000 but listed the house just one-month later, seemingly unhappy with the purchase. It was sold to an unknown buyer in a non-judicial foreclosure sale for $845,000 described as a "fixer-upper" by Realtor.com. The New York-bred rapper has been open about Los Angeles being the source of many of her mental health problems. “We got our ticket out of … California. Through all the … tears and suffering and … wildfires and … gender identity crisis … the girls is making it out,” she said on her Instagram. “I MADE IT OUT OF HELL. MIAMI, USA. LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO,” she captioned a video post. Congrats to Azealia on the move. Hopefully, Miami will bring new-found healing to her. [via] View the full article
  15. As the American people know and recognize, Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner have served as President Trump's closest aides during his tenure in office. Like father, like daughter, Ivanka was summoned to this role having no prior political work or qualifying history for the position. As reported by Michael Wolff in Fire and Fury, Ivanka and her husband accepted roles in the West Wing to prepare for when Ivanka would eventually ascend to the top position in the Oval Office one day. Alex Wong/Getty Images After deleting a tweet calling the angry rioters at the Capitol "American patriots," the first daughter is continuing to attempt to salvage the remnants of the political career appointed to her by her father. Somehow seemingly separating herself from the chaos that ensued at Capitol Hill last week the House has now voted that her father is responsible for, Ivanka had allegedly planned to attend next week's inauguration ceremony in an attempt to "save her reputation" and "promising political career." The Daily Mail report claims that Trump told Ivanka attending the ceremony would be, “an insult that she would even want to engage with the crooks [who] are trying to bring him down,” and that “her presence at the inauguration will cost her thousands of supporters and would be the worst decision she could ever make.” According to the report, Ivanka thought attending the inauguration would come across as “being a good sport and [would] gain [her] future supporters.” According to a Daily Mail source, she also made it clear she “has to protect her own political aspirations.” A White House source has since denied the allegations that Ivanka was to attend Biden's inauguration ceremony, although it was unsure if she had even been invited in the first place given the pro-Trump fascist mob that attacked the Capitol building last week attempting to prevent the transfer of power. Mark Wilson/Getty Images While avid supporters of the current Trump administrators would likely support the first daughter in any of her future political aspirations, it's more likely that she has no real shot at a political career thanks to her father. 18. Yesterday President Trump left D.C. and headed for Alamo, Texas to discuss the border. During his Alamo appearance, Trump stated that the 25th Amendment does not bother him, while exclaiming the impeachment as the "greatest witch hunt in the history of politics." "Free speech is under assault like never before. The 25th Amendment is of zero risk to me, but will come back to haunt Joe Biden and the Biden administration. As the expression goes, be careful what you wish for," Trump said. Because of his remarks to rioters, Trump faces impeachment. The House of Representatives pushed for Vice President Mike Pence to invoke Section 4 of the 25th Amendment which states: Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President. Tuesday night, Pence wrote a letter to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, stating that he won't invoke the 25th Amendment. “Last week, I did not yield to pressure to exert power beyond my constitutional authority to determine the outcome of the election, and I will not now yield to efforts in the House of Representatives to play political games at a time so serious in the life of our nation,” he wrote. Since Pence won't invoke the 25th Amendment, the House will move to impeach the president today, which would make him the first president to be impeached twice. [via] View the full article

  21. Though The LOX are largely associated with the Ruff Ryders movement, the legendary trio originally got their start as part of Diddy's Bad Boy Records. Despite the fact that the label was one of hip-hop's most popular at the time, The LOX weren't exactly a stylistic fit, later departing the label under less than amicable terms. Despite the nature of their split, The LOX's stint on Bad Boy led to the release of their 1998 debut Money, Power, & Respect, an album that officially turns twenty-three today. In honor of the milestone anniversary, it feels appropriate to highlight the project's title track, which features the heavyweight presence of DMX (who was in the midst of enjoying a legendary year) and Lil Kim, a longtime friend and collaborator of Bad Boy legend Notorious B.I.G. Off the bat, hip-hop heads will likely recognize the iconic instrumental, one that calls back to a distinct and beloved era, when the golden age was slowly transitioning into the shiny new millennium. Lyrically, each party holds it down as you'd expect, with each young New York rapper showcasing the chemistry that would later come to define the Double R. Check out this classic tune below, and show some love to one of the game's greatest groups of all time. QUOTABLE LYRICS Only time could tell how the clock ticks I'm really loved here but I'm still a hostage Two personalities check the posture Smoke out the mouth clear out the nostrils Think of death, the life seem scary I'm passin' graveyards seein' people Hail Mary - SP View the full article
  22. Last week, hundreds of angry pro-Trump supporters violently stormed the Capitol building in Washington, D.C., breaching security before entering the premises and wreaking havoc inside. While many thought they could participate in the attempted siege and return to life as normal, the FBI had other plans in store for the misinformed group. One mobster in particular, whom you've likely seen in the viral image lounging at Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's desk, has since been arrested and is now facing real jail time. Richard Barnett, a 60-year-old man from Gravette, Arkansas, appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Erin Wiedemann on Tuesday in Fayetteville to hear the official charges being brought against him. He is being charged with unlawfully entering a restricted area with a lethal weapon (a stun gun), disorderly conduct, and theft of public property. If he is convicted of the charges, he could be facing more than 11 years behind bars in federal prison. After the jaw-dropping events that took place at the Capitol, Barnett told news outlets he was reportedly looking for the bathroom when he saw the door to Pelosi's office was open. “I sat down here in my desk. I’m a taxpayer. I’m a patriot. That ain’t her desk — we loaned her that desk,” he reportedly reasoned. “And she ain’t appreciating the desk, so I thought I would sit down and appreciate the desk.” Congress is currently in the process of impeaching Trump for a second time due to the belief that he incited the riots. His inflammatory speech has resulted in the suspension of his social media accounts in order to prevent further violence from being stirred. [via] View the full article
  23. James Harden looks to be on the way out in Houston, telling the press that the Rockets "just aren't good enough" in his post-game comments last night. The team's own commentators have taken notice of Harden's lack of involvement on the floor this year, and they've joined in on the trollery, roasting the superstar player for his apparent weight gain last night. After spending the offseason at various strip clubs without a mask on, James Harden reported to duty in Houston days before the season was set to tip-off, and it looked as though he had gained some weight. The 31-year-old appeared to be out of shape, possibly enjoying a few too many chicken wings at the club and sporting a hefty belly. Houston's commentators finally said something last night, joking, "If we wanna talk about some aesthetics, James Harden definitely had a pre-game meal, averaging 17-points per game--." The announcer was cut off by his colleague, who said, "Hey, chill out, chill out" after nearly spitting out his water. They're not the only ones to have noticed James' new look, filling out his warm-up jersey quite nicely. DJ Akademiks also posted the video to his popular page on Instagram, inviting hundreds of comments about the hooper's weight, as well as his own. Steph Chambers/Getty Images Do you think James Harden will get traded soon or will he be forced to spend the entire season on a team he clearly doesn't want to play for? View the full article
  24. The #BussItChallenge, 2021’s first viral trend, is brought to you by Erica Banks’ hard-hitting single, "Buss It," which takes a looping sample from Nelly’s "Hot In Herre," creating an incessantly catchy chorus. The single was first released in June 2020, but the trend for the record has now taken off on TikTok. The challenge invovles people showing off their cute and comfy side, before transitioning to their baddie-glamazon-selves once the beat drops. Its popularity skyrocketed within the first few weeks of the year. The hashtag has been trending on Twitter for several days, and celebrities including Gabrielle Union and "Puerto Rican Princess" Joseline Hernandez have posted their takes on the challenge too, not to mention fellow artists like DaniLeigh. With Banks' single peaking in popularity, and putting her on the map as the next female rapper to watch, we're giving you a breakdown on everything you need to know about 1501 Entertainment’s latest star. Who is Erica Banks? Erica Banks is a 21-year-old rapper from the Dallas suburb Desoto, Texas, which seems to be an epicenter of sorts for upcoming rappers. Growing up, Erica was the epitome of academic excellence, earning a 4.0 GPA. She showcased her artistic talents in theatre, the cheer team, and the drill team. After graduating from Desoto High School in 2017, Erica attended Texas A&M Commerce to become a nurse, before switching majors to study business. However, even after changing courses in school, she was still unhappy. She finally decided to quit her sophomore year to follow her dreams, and become a rapper. "I wasn’t happy, and school was hard," she said. "I stopped going to class and was just kicking it every day. And I realized that this was not what I wanted to do. I didn’t want to be a nurse. I didn’t know what kind of business I wanted to own. I was so stressed out." After calling it quits from academics, Erica would go on to upload her first song ever to Soundcloud in 2018, a record titled "Talk My Shit," and kept the momentum going from there with a series mixtapes-- her debut, Art of Hustle, and two more, Cocky On Purpose and Pressure. 1501’s Newest Gem As the story goes, Carl Crawford was on Instagram Live allowing artists to share their music with him, and that's when Erica Banks wasted no time showcasing her talent. The rapper shared her single “Buss It” with him which led to her invitation to join the 1501 team-- and they went on to help push the record, breathing more life into it. Since then, Banks has raked up a following of 190,000 fans who can’t help but love her lyricism and undeniable talent. She spoke on choosing to sign with 1501 during a Houston radio show interview, where she stated, "It was more like an intuition kind of thing,” Banks said. "Im really big on vibes, I’m really big on intuition. I really felt like it was the right thing, the right situation. I’ve been in previous situations where I’ve been offered other situations. That was my fourth offer so I’ve turned down deals before, but I just felt like that was the right one. Ever since then everything has been bool, I mean cool." Copycat Accusations In June 2020, Banks’ music started to make a lot of noise on social media for all of the wrong reasons. Banks received heavy backlash for having extreme similarities to the ex-1501 queen Megan Thee Stallion, who herself had an extremely successful year earning her first #1 single with "Savage (Remix)" featuring Beyonce. Megan is known for her parking garage freestyles and distinct mannerisms when she raps-- not to mention the fact that she was Carl Crawford's first breakout artist on the same 1501 roster, and the two didn't necessarily have the most amicable parting, with both legal and personal issues mounting. It is these factors that mainly drove fans' suspicions that the Desoto native was attempting to steal Meg's whole flow and look.Even Megan Thee Stallion's infamous ex-best-friend, Kelsey, spoke up on the copycat controversy, although she refused to bad-mouth Banks and referred to her as "really nice girl." Nonetheless, the murmurs of mimicking continued, and Banks has to eventually shut down those accusations, letting the world know that "Texas rappers have that same accent" -- although she failed to address their similarities in flow and style, leaving some fans unsatisfied with the response. Still, with Banks' career picking up steam, it seems the fans don't really mind, either. Buss It Challenge and New Record Deal The #BussItChallenge has swiftly brought Banks’ career to new heights. The amount of recognition she received for her latest hit has opened doors for a potentially-promising and long-lasting career in rap music. The song has over 200 million views on TikTok and rose to #131 on Spotify’s Daily Chart. On January 7, Banks revealed that she'd signed a deal with major label Warner Bros Records, and shared a series of celebratory videos regarding her new contract. Details regarding the deal are currently unknown, but it's safe to say we can expect a major label debut from Ms. Banks sometime in 2021. Do you think Erica Banks is rap’s next contender? Let us know in the comments. View the full article
  25. The fallout from the Capitol building attack on January 6th continues to be felt. Today, Donald Trump faces his second impeachment, brought on by his involvement in inciting the riotous mob. With his political fate as-of-yet uncertain, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez spent over an hour last night addressing the people in a lengthy Instagram Live session, where she opened up about her own experience during the harrowing Capitol assault. Samuel Corum/Getty Images "Wednesday was a traumatic event," she explains, at roughly the eight-minute mark. "I'm not exaggerating when I say that many many members of the house were nearly assassinated. We were very lucky that things happened within certain minutes that allowed members to escape the house floor unharmed. But many of us nearly and narrowly escaped death. It's also traumatizing how unsettling that day was. There was a sense that something was wrong from the inside." "As we saw, there were members of Capitol police who were quite heroic," she continues. "There were also black and brown officers confronting white supremacists, putting themselves in harm's way on the front line, facing the racist violence of white supremacists ordered by Donald Trump. There were those acts of heroism, but next to that were acts of betrayal. To run in the Capitol and not know if an officer is there to help or harm you is also quite traumatizing." "As for myself, I had a pretty traumatizing event happen to me," she explains. "I don't know if I can even disclose the full details of that event due to security concerns. But I can tell you that I had a very close encounter where I thought I was going to die. You have all of those thoughts where, at the end of your life, and all of these thoughts come rushing to you. That's what happened to a lot of us on Wednesday. "I did not know if I was going to make it to the end of that day alive. Not just in a general sense but in a very specific sense." Check out AOC's IG Live below, and stay posted on further developments regarding the second Impeachment of Donald Trump. View the full article
