  1. Someone at the Doobie Brothers website replied to my question. There first producer kept there tapes from there first studio sessions and was selling the music under various album names. Also said that producer had been warned not to do so and apparently there is a legal dispute about it.
  2. There was a album put out last year with various people singing Doors songs and Ian was on that album. I cannot remember it's name off hand but I do have it somehwhere here in the stacks lol I may be wrong but I believe Ray Manzarek produced it but I could not find info on it off hand right now.
  3. I download what I was hoping was Doobie Brothers - What were once vices are now habits , album. It was titled as such and the tracks were even titled with all the names of the tracks on that album. However I did not recognise any of the music, though it was the doobie brothers. I even heard what sounded like variations of songs previously released. I ran the tracks through freedb and it recognised the album and told me the albums True name as Doobie Brothers - Experience. It then gave me the titles for all the tracks. Within the rar that the files came in was a album cover that I had never seen either and as I searched allmusic.com and the web I can find no information on this album. Has anyone ever heard of it? It sounds like older tracks but have no real clue.
  4. Here is hathor, and as i mentioned i cannot find the website right now. I am sure it will be reposted soon. HathorSetup.exe
  5. I came accross to variations on downloading of music files, streaming or whatever. These two apps allow you to stream or download a file from a personal computer. It's not like shoutcast or other streaming methods. It appears closer to like a personal webpage but it's optimised to stream music or share it. One is called Hathor and the other is a winamp plugin called ml_www. I just saw these last night. The winamp plugin apparently does not have it's own webpage and is talked about and links posted on the winamp forums. And Hathor just appeared on hydrogenaudio.org and the link to the webpage dissappeared today. Must be a glitch in regards to Hathor as most replies to that thread seem positive. I did download a copy of each but have not tried them. I will try and get more info. Here is a copy of the winamp plugin and do a search on winamp forum to read more. ml_www044b.exe
  6. Here is a small (300kb) application that searches for lyrics as you hear the song. http://www.evillabs.sk/evillyrics/ Called Evillyrics Works with: Winamp 2/5 Windows Media Player Series 9 iTunes 4.2 MusicMatch 8 Foobar2000 MediaMonkey RealPlayer Quintessential Player seems cool. freeware.
  7. I saw that Sonic Youth has a new album coming out and some advance copies are floating around. title of the new albums is "NURSE" , snagged me a copy last night. gonna give it a listen in a bit. peace
  8. apreciate it folks but after about a year of intense downloading I actually almost have all the old albums I used to have. I really only miss the covers though. The reading of the back isn't the same as cd's now adays. lol I want to put together a pc with just my music. I will hopefully begin in a few months. I got over 3,000 complete albums and most are on CD's now and that hampers sharing but I do share over edonkey network, waste, personal webserver and a account at streamload where I got over 6 terabytes of files. music, apps, movies. streamload lets me share up to 10 gigs a month and I hardly use it. I would be happy to share with anyone if I got what your interested in listening to. I'd be happy to share whatever in the easiest way for whoever wants it (well honestly to begin with, only the people I recognise or referred from someone I trust, which is most of you guys here.). Usually streamload is cool cuz you can take your time downloading it. If I comment on something, I got it. obvisously lol does anyone ever use dropload.com or yousendit.com? I have tried it and it works well. but yousendit.com is growing so fast i predict problems soon. peace
  9. ahh Sonic Youth one of my favorite bands of all time. I remember also listening to these bands alot "The Replacements" , "Alien Sex Fiend" , "The Stranglers" , "Gang of Four" lol my memory is slowly coming back to me lol peace
  10. I think of Steely Dan as Rock played with a Jazz Senseability. They are hard to define because they are simply creative and damn good musicians as well as fine song writers.
  11. Cool thread. Thanks for reminding me about Weather Report. Always dug them. How about Mahavishnu Orchestra and Count Basey? also I always dug John Coltrane and remember reading somewhere that Jimi Hendrix was inspired by Coltrane. There are a few versions of "My favorite things" that Coltrane covers and I have never been able to locate the first version I heard but it was a live set somewhere in New Jersey and really blew me away when I first heard it. If you check him out do hear that cover. peace
  12. LoL ... I been called worse. I actually take that as a compliment and yeah I totally dug the "Diggers" philosophy and the "Merry Pranksters" were way cool as well. I been focusing a lot on rebuilding a old lost collection and I do think I got hung up on that and want to just enjoy music as opposed to finding old lost albums. LOL I really do dig all kinds of music. Eclectic for sure. Been hearing some Stanley Clark and Mahavishnu Orchestra lately along with Underworld and Sasha and John Digweed. cool stuff... peace

    So many members

I'd be glad to post away but I am still having problems locating the places I have posted. Guess my bulb is dim lol Still it's a cool place and spose a few more days and I will be more familiar and damn there is a hell of a lot of posts already. I hate to mention anything or whatever that was already covered but I won't be able to figure that out. I tried search a few times and well , wasn't to successful looking for stuff. Example and I'll try again as i may have been to tired when I tried. I search for porcupine tree and could not find it. then i stumbled accross a thread discussing it. It's probably just me lol peace
  14. Yeah I got it and use it sometimes but i liked it better when older versions did not display ads. I have a old copy somewhere but have not dug it out yet. I also like wwwfileshare but they stopped the freeware version. So I foud a app I really like so far. It's called hfs standing for HTTP File Server ( Website: http://www.rejetto.com/hfs ; http://hfs.sf.net ) , It is fantasticly easy to use. Drag and drop files you want to share and it will even paste the link in clipboard for you to send to friends. Or use a service like http://dyndns.org to create a static url for yourself. I am looking at a few other small file sharing apps and will let you know when I try them.

    Porcupine Tree

Yeah way cool band. Has anyone heard of ozryc tentacles. Not sure i spelled that right. I came accross them when searching for prog bands and I think they are cool. Is there a prog rock thread? I am kinda just surfing the site and not sure if I missed it?
  16. I recently go a copy of the remastered 3 cd set called "The Ultimate Yes". It really is a great collection of there best work. I have tried to get copies of all there work but this is still good to have as it's the best sound and cream of the crop tracks. peace
  17. Thanks y'all ! I had been meaning to check this place out and yup, it is right up my alley lol peace out
  18. kooperman ! thanks for clarifying my mistake. I do re-call that now but nowadays with no album covers to look at i can't always remember the facts lol I do miss album covers and reading the back etc. hehe peace
  19. Actually the whole concept of Rock Opera is a bit of a misnomer. I don't know who made that term up but The Who do not really qualify as pretentious and all that other stuff the grabber wants to put on them. They are blue coller guys who rock like hell and thematic rock would be closer to the what they were doing with tommy etc. I always had a hard time following the story they were trying to tell and had to be blazed and stoned to even catch a glimmer of the ideas. It's the music! That's what I would listen to. lol and they played great rock. I also liked Led Zepplin but would admit now they could be pretentious at times with Kashmir and some of their other loftier jams but hell, it's all for fun now. Isn't it? We all like to have fun right? peace
  20. Apparently Jorge needs to clear house as he says and he is currently still making decisions as who will help in Moderation. Crazy Horse is still a Mod as I am as well and we will see what else he decides. Though the moderators duties are all from this moment limited to 2 forums each and only Jorge and Janet can moderate the entire forum as well as the Black Pit otherwise known as The Lounge lol . I now dub it the black pit for all the trouble it has created. peace oh btw just joined last night and it reminded me of musicmagnet a forum I and a few others tried to get going awhile back. Hope you have better luck and not turn into a mini ZP.
  21. I dig everything that was posted but what about Johnny Winter, Paul Butterfield, Mike Bloomfield! and don't laugh but Steve Miller began as a blues guitar player and rock and pyschedelia kinda snagged him, his earlier albums reveal quite a blues guitar player. Also Johnny Winter dabbled in Rock a bit but he is primarly a blues guitar player. I am sure some of you heard the great Album "Super Session" with Al Kooper, Mike Bloomfield and Steve Stills. Steve Stills and Bloomfield are 2 great blues players though Stills has not made any other blues albums as far as I know.
  22. Did you ever hear there follow up album "Quadrophenia" It is also a 2 album set and has lots of great music in it. Check it out if you can.
  23. I actually believe In a gadda de vida is latin for In the garden of life. vida is latin for life I know that for a fact. As for jefferson airplane , yeah way cool but there best stuff was not so commercially successful.. Like the way cool "After Bather at Baxters" album a long trippy album. I also dug "Crown of Creation" it has a very moody thought provacative song named "Triad" which grace slick wrote and sang as I think it was one of her best. Also when Jefferson Airplane morphed into Jefferson Starship they made a killer album called "Spitfire"
  24. Yeah The Animals album was cool but I personally thought Atom Heart Mother was a bit further out and a earlier album as well. I also dug Ummagumma a 2 album set, with one album live and the other a studio album. After Atom Heart Mother I believe came Meddle which was also good.
