  1. holy shit--'take it from whom it comes.' WTF else is he gonna say about it? hmmpf. their agendas are so rooted in the republican party, it's pathetic.
  2. is this the way it's always been, bombardier? or just since the US found out that janet jackson has breasts?
  3. 'A landmark manifesto about the genuine closing of the American mind.' from amazon's listing for larry lessig's 'free culture.'
  4. it's amazing how they haven't taken the damn time to do like a dry run or dress rehearsal kind o' thang, beforehand, like trying out the new machines at a shopping mall or some other public space prior to election day. 'the company' is diebold, isn't it? peer pressure and lack of funds would certainly deter most losing candidates, IMO.
  5. MikeHunt--->if i knew you in meatspace, i'd be asking if you speak from experience or is that only wishful thinking? but i don't, so i won't. B) (no offence intended)
  6. drunk and ripped backstage (april 03).
  7. holy shit--i can smell the conservative/religious right all the way over here.
  8. very funny thread, people, LMAO. how come those cart-thingies w/wheels at bottom, that stewardesses and others use to haul their crap around airports &c, how come those are still cool and skateboards aren't? hmmpf...i smell a conspiracy here (it doesn't take much).
  9. sorry, just woke up and reread this topic and sub-title...yeah, according to the RIAA. boo fuckin' hoo, i weep for them all.
  10. excellent post, medusa. one thing about the lawsuits: they're strictly a bully tactic and exactly what title 17 of the copyright law provides, the right of copyright holders to sue for infringement. & i believe the reason maximum fines haven't been imposed is nobody can pay them. haven't been around the last few days so i don't know if this was addressed but CNet news said audible magic has new tech that 'claims to be able to automatically identify copyrighted songs on networks like Kazaa and to block illegal downloads.'
  11. interesting editorial in today's NYT, if i can pull all you dudes away from um...baseball or something. ;) '...in britain neither of these guys could lead a major party. Their upper-crust pedigrees would be disqualifying. But here in the land...of middle-class self-loathing, we want to make sure that the guy we elect to the White House has lived a life nothing like our own...' clash of titans by david brooks random NYTimes log-in generator
  12. christ on a crutch--don't get me started w/all those who're friends of that fuck in the whitehouse who walk off, unscathed. yeah but you don't wanna hear them. i can't stand m stewart cause AFAIC, she epitomised an idiotic female stereotype. but i have to agree w/you here...bah, this stinks more and more of the 50s and the mccarthy 'commie'-hunting that went on.
  13. wait...the bluescreen o' death isn't enough? we need a tool for this? what am i missing?
  14. excellent message, DudeAIC and thank you for the link...off to compose something (sans my usual foul-mouth, out of respect an' all).
  15. why am i not surprised that billgates is in favor of this? MS just might have a little programme already in place, just for this purpose. if i were to pay for every message i send, i'd be paying...oh let's see, some arbitrary amount...if mail costs 10 cents each, about 5$/day (or about EUR 6,40). whoa, what a shocker that one is. ;) i can't see paying for messages either, Kooperman. then again, i thought once abortions were legal, that would be the end of it...and i don't wanna touch your statement about gasoline prices, not even w/someone else's um...hand). B) here's the smiley we use on freea3 for this kinda shit (feel free to take it):
  16. please give us the link--we (well, i) wanna write as well. my BF made this one, for freea3 when he did the redesign...shit, can't post an image here. anyway, it's a yellow fist w/middle finger extended, which code is :flipoff: but hey, you'll have to use your imagination. B)
  17. excellent point, MikeHunt. (but too early for me to think further on this.)
  18. this is an election year and gwb's already pandering to the 'christian right' or wotever the fuck they call themselves. one would think the Bono incident was forgotten, but No. someone should start a meme propagated online that for one (agreed-upon) day, people start every sentence (uttered in public) w/'fuck that' or something equally silly, just to make a statement against this idiocy.
  19. i know, Ken, they always have to make an example of someone to show whatever situation is under control (whether it really is or not).
  20. YAY! i've been waiting for this since november 2000. 'what did you think of the president's interview on sunday?' 'Holy shit--that guy was the PRESIDENT?'
  21. very well said, Kooperman, my thoughts exactly. i don't like howard stern but clearchannel policies have pissed me off since i became aware of them.
  22. does this surprise anyone? that the administration sides w/the RIAA? wouldn't it be great if someone close to gwb actually understood that this issue is like the 30+ year 'war' on drugs? UN-FUCKIN-WINNABLE. but they understand neither the tech nor the implications...the future's here but those in gov are fighting their damndest against it. wouldn't it be great if all the money spent in any one year on the war against drugs would be used for education? or housing the homeless? or to supplement families w/kids whose parents work 2+ jobs? oh wait, i'm in fantasyland again.
  23. i'll bet they are. here's hoping someone hip to reverse tech will put an end to this before it's viable...i can see the gov't using such photos as evidence of whatever. good idea but there's always unexpected consequences.
