  1. fuckin-A! what a surprise to see this here--that's one of my fave books as well. didja know it was banned for 70+ years? back OT: this just killed me, made me LOL here...i'm glad the 666 is bothering the religious wingnuts, serves them right. it's only a number, morons.
  2. for some strange reason, above link doesn't work for me (maybe due to my decidedly unpatriotic outlook). anyway, i wanted to read it to see if we still have anti-ageism discrimination laws in the states and if this dude will take DC to court.
  3. do you guys have an RSS thingy for a feedreader? i looked but can't find it (yeah, i know--you prolly don't). but it would be really cool if you did; i installed one last night and love it. :P just a thought, not necessary--i end up here twenty+ times/day anyway. B)
  4. couldn't get here from late afternoon yesterday until early this morning (um, about 9PM california time). hmmpf.
  5. i have no idea where to begin w/this but currently, I HATE (what gwb did to) MY COUNTRY, the unrecognisable one it is to me now. does nobody remember before 11. Sept gwb was looked upon as a boob who stole the election? just my .02 and no, i won't expand on this; it would take me all damn day. (one recent reason: Nanny-in-chief by Andrew Sullivan.) people over here assume that because i'm amerikan, i support gwb. hee hee, the looks on their faces when they ask me and i begin to rant. i'm so happy we had our plans to move in place in july '01. let the dissing begin--i can take it! (but prolly won't reply)
  6. thank you, MH for the head's up (sent it to every AO-Hell user i unfortunately know). i think the widespread AOL-ness has to do w/that 'it's so easy!' in adverts and commercials (dunno if this is still the tagline cause there's no AOL here, thank fuck). i had no such trouble w/trillian but last month switched to miranda. it's much lighter on the system and no waiting time for firing it up/exiting. you're welcome. B)
  7. umma, if you have enought know-how to change over to linux, believe me, you're way ahead of me and surely can dig the article...i read it in pieces cause it disgusted & scared me simultaneously.
  8. addendum: we watched The Big Lebowski again last night (one of the funniest films ever made and i really don't like many comedies). anyway, there's a John Goodman line that he says over and over: 'this is what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass') and in the sanitised amerikan tv version, he says 'this is what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps!' now that's inadvertently funny but i don't hold much hope that other films would be re-dubbed likewise.
  9. i sure can...can you believe i (5'2", 95 lbs) drank an entire bottle of JD at Jones Beach three summers ago? not the first time i killed over a litre of booze--never again (i promised my friends--thank fuck they're still friends, well one of them is).
  10. ah, so that's it--i don't wake up totally until my 6th or 7th cup and by then, i'm reaching for the first (2 litre) bottle of Coke Lite. mmmmm, caffeine. sorry for the idiocy, i'm waking up...again (for some strange reason, i go through the very same routine, every damn day).
  11. i just checked the dude's site, read a bit from most of the pages and totally agree w/Ken. as well, the 'reviews' aren't even attributed. the site appears to me to be a lot of self-serving bullshit.
  12. cool, the Alabama 3's favorite booze. B) 'after three days of drinking w/Larry Love...' :P (from the original 'Woke Up This Morning' (what you'll never hear on the Sopranos).
  13. you're welcome, MH and i agree...it's a lot of reading but totally worth it. don't think they pick on individuals, just collate the data they receive. but the fact they could change anything remotely is what bothers me bigtime. my next machine's gonna be a Mac (although Macs talk to Apple servers, i don't have the same issues i do w/MS).
  14. hey, i thought if i wanted it, i got it. :P (truly they're only a minor annoyance but i wonder about the arbitrariness as i don't see anyone else w/them).
  15. yeah RR, are there any others into Punk reading this? (if so, feel free to PM or mail me). these days, actually, it might be pretty much a Euro-centric thing. i myself had big problems in NYC finding anywhere to hear any decent punk or really, any band who'd consider their music as punk (apart from the lower east side) but on this end of the Atlantic, it's still going strong, so much so 'i feel alive...resuscitated.' B) whoops, it doesn't take much for an ADD-addled person like myself to go off and begin to talk about the Alabama 3 and the Cunts. Sorr-rreeeeeee (not really). :P
  16. is it a matter of reaching a certain number of posts or the content of same which'll make them go away? cause i have a problem w/their aesthetic, as well as being a controlfreak i'd wanna do away w/them myself.
  17. yeah but until then 'If you run Windows...Hot Mail, MSN, Microsoft Instant Messaging - they all require a Passport account, and they are all being expanded into key parts of My Services. If you are attached to the Internet, your Windows computer is already chatting with Microsoft's servers, and if you run XP or Win 2000 SP3, you have already given Microsoft permission to examine your computer and make changes as they see fit....' all from this page and it's scarey. :(
  18. the Chemical Brothers' 'exit planet dust' features Segs (formerly of the Ruts) on bass. haven't heard it yet but his sister's supposed to send it over ASAP. nb: he plays throbbing bass for the Alabama 3. B)
  19. hello, you...good to see you here. :P i'm waiting for the rest of the brigade but i ain't holding my breath. B)
  20. you're absolutely right, they don't. but it's more fragmenting the public's already limited attention span (e.g., the furor the jackson tit caused at the superbowl).
  21. bah...morons fucking w/the public interest and then escaping free from condemnation (and somehow profiting) while taking attention off the war in iraq and the millions at home who are unemployed and desperate. fuck, i have to lighten up (sorry, just woke up).
  22. hee hee, i'll second that; happy we're 50 miles from the Dutch border. thwooooooooooop! B)
  23. and who will be arbiter of decency, gwb or his designated clone? this is truly frightening--there are films on cable all day long w/'language' (and 'situations') in them and nothing to stop any young kid from grabbing the remote and tuning in. what will they do? edit them for family consumption and while they're at it, snip out every 'fuck you' in the sopranos and oz? wasn't there a Simpsons ep from the early 90s where lisa comments on the fox network's subtle but growing use of obscenity? at the time i laughed my ass off cause it was so true. didn't we once have something called free speech? welcome back to victorian times. *shudder*
  24. yeah i certainly can't about this. and i think that as long as it's an issue, it's difficult for one not to be biased especially if there are strong feelings involved.
