  1. Umma, i'm only afraid of the Ifrit living inside my computer, thass all. and i attempt to placate it every chance i get. (from today's Register:) 'Microsoft should level with us, soon, on whether or not it intends to ship an interim 'XP Reloaded' version of Windows....it contains quite a few grisly reminders about the things Microsoft ought to do, but doesn't... '...If you ask Microsoft when Longhorn is going to ship, Microsoft will tell you it will ship when it's done. And if you listen to Microsoft executives' presentations over a year or two, you'll note that the 12-18 month window in which the company thinks Longhorn might ship moves progressively. So, we have a period of indeterminate length from the demise of Win2k until the arrival of Longhorn, into which - the company indicated in just the last few days - something which might be a retreaded version of XP, might be a marketing campaign or might be a mix of the two is likely to be slipped... 'So prior to making Gartner and the enterprise customers happy by producing regular and accurate roadmaps, timelines and feature sets, Microsoft really has to consider carefully and deeply why it is that it is unable to do this. And maybe why inserting timeline changes as puffs of white smoke in keynotes is really not a smart idea.' more: CONFESS ABOUT XP RELOADED QUICK, GARTNER TELLS MS prior: Windows' Shorthorn is DOA
  2. nah, i think he's still a moron but sinister cause he has all his dad's friends to tell him what to do. kinda like an evil handpuppet, y'know? but handpuppets have more brains.
  3. hey, regardless of one's aesthetics, i say 'equal rights for all tits, no matter how old.' what did they say about janet j's at halftime? dint they call hers a 'middle-aged breast?' i almost fell out of my seat when i read that...i showed my BF the photo and asked 'why is it middle-aged?' and he gave me some shit about the shape. c'mon! i know chicks in their early 20s who have the same thing going on. this thread is so funny.
  4. they all did, they had to or else they couldn't sit in on whitehouse press briefings (still hunting for the links). it was a big thing online a few months back when it became known and then disappeared (as usual when the whitehouse doesn't look so good).
  5. umma, i would think no. 1 would be decided before the couple goes out, no. 2 just might not happen due to peer pressure (the desire to appear cool) and about no. 3...i know some dudes who would pay for that so i don't think it would be a problem.
  6. depending upon where you're situated, of course. i wouldn't walk around w/o a shirt in NYC but over here, nobody raises an eyebrow. (sorry to keep on harping on this all over but living here has been a real education for me.)
  7. excellent point, DudeAIC. what about gwb? remember when it became known that all whitehouse press corps had to submit their shit back to be approved before it was published? i almost fainted when i read that (sorry, can't find the link).
  8. the hypocrisy is amazing: bingo and likewise: thank you for posting this, Shawn.
  9. it seems i've been deluding myself--i always thought i was bart but i'm really homer.
  10. a quick read of the above suggests that the virus writers' first language isn't English and they're pretty young. since i don't believe in coincidence, i wonder if this latest round of viruses isn't rooted in jealousy: a few weekends back, the sunday NYTimes ran a 10 page article on (mostly teenage EU) virus writers, complete w/photos. but i could be wrong--it does happen. B)
  11. oh, you boys. ;) we were at summer sundae (leicester, england) and there were many girls walking around topless. then again, it was 102, broke the record that one day. but i'm pretty sure the same goes on at glastonbury &c. it's no big thing; very refreshing actually.
  12. that's my issue--if i could trust MS to reach out and fix things, that would be cool but i don't. your use of 'joe bloggs' makes me think you're british and as such, might have missed the huge thing concerning the NSA ('no such agency' and/or national security agency) key revealed when win 98 was released. paranoid? maybe but my paranoia was enhanced thousandfold after the bush gov gave MS only a token slap on the wrist. my next machine &c &c. B) that's what i'm afraid of. :(
  13. what scares me is that there are people walking around like almost 30 (?) years later who still look like that and they aren't in cover/homage bands. :( haven't seen any over here but i've seen them in NY and IL. then again, the same can be said for almost every other style thingy. hmmpf (i'm thinkin')
  14. 'in the mainline w/a "HYPO FULL OF LOVE!" ' :P
  15. another one in the slideshow (no that's not the band, just a songtitle)
  16. now i see some hazy lines, thank you (eyes...need...new...lenses...bah).
  17. but how do they do anything at all to educate? 'hackers ahead?' where? 'do not pick up viruses?' well, duh!
  18. i have so many issues w/this, i don't know where to begin but from the second article: there--they said it better and w/less words than i ever could.
  19. i really don't think that magazines pushing more demure styles are gonna make a dent w/young girls' clothing. but if britney  appeared buttoned up in public, that would be another story. & i ain't holding my breath she does it voluntarily, if at all.
  20. the very fact that the head of diebold is a confirmed republican who swore he'd deliver the 04 pres.election to gwb...bah, just thinking about this shit pisses me off.
  21. and there you have it--his agenda: and the solution sans 'securID' tech: can't find the article but basically, most passwords have some emotional value (child/pet's name, hobby-related &c) and the solution involves using numbers and capitalising some of the letters then mixing them up really well.
  22. no, i have no issues w/that. just it's easier for me to read on the page cause i very badly need new contact lenses.
  23. no, but it kinda looks like one. after you snag a feed-app, you subscribe to wotever site you dig (usually via a little orange XML or RSS button) and you get the latest bits but can't respond. it's a one-way sort of thing. now if only someone would build one so i wouldn't have to go outside for cigs &c.
