  1. Developers developers developers developers!!!
  2. For a short bio on the Emergency Broadcast Network, see this previous post Enjoy!
  3. This has been in heavy rotation in recent playlists of mine..."Flakes" from Sheik Yerbouti After the weird "stop motion clay animation" beginning is an excellent live version of this song about the woes of hiring home repair professionals, from Zappa's Halloween show in New York, 1981.
  4. They should make lactose-free Bukkake. The intolerant shouldn't lose out on all the fun! I can see hours turning into weeks looking at all that...like this game I wasted time on this morning... Computers are like time machines--they transport one several hours into the future in what seems like just a few minutes!
  5. We could try to attack some place small, some place without a founder present or with a very small (2 person) UN membership. At the moment, that's about how damn MEGA POWERFUL!!!! we are...
  6. It'd be damn near impossible. The two have become indistinguishable from years of close impact.
  7. At first I was like...ok, a road. That's a LOT of shit tickets. We used to take make buckets of "spitballs" usinga couple dozen rolls of Scots, some Elmer's Glue and a couple gallons a water. We'd go out and completely obliterate the writing on several decent sized highway signs, but what that video depicts is a whole new level of dedication to vandalism and toilet paper.
  8. The Kruger Wastes are not to be traveled lightly.
  9. For a short bio on EBN (the Emergency Broadcast Network), see this previous post The bassline on this video track is pretty smoking. If anyone here knows who that actually is on the stand-up, I would appreciate it. Also, if the "sound" of this track is reminiscent of Meat Beat Manifesto, circa Subliminal Sandwich, it would be because Jack Dangers produced EBN's 1995 Telecommunication Breakdown, from which this (and "Electronic Behavior Control System") is track from.
  10. I really have nothing more to say about any of this myself other than this really is sad news, but not for the reasons I first thought. There is some positive that has come out of this--the solidarity of two internet forums linked by what was perceived as a tragedy in common, as well as the heartfelt sentiments in this thread and the contributions to the arbor day fund over at FF that show the true colors of BeatKing's core membership. You guys are a true community. And I apologize for aiding and abetting the spreading of this ridiculous drama, though at the the time I thought I was doing a public service. It won't happen again. And as a courtesy I think the mods should let the forum know should anyone with "bear's" ip address take up at BeatKing again with a new user name. If he wants to post here, I move that he do so under the name he already has. Anyone who wants to read the entire thread over at FF is welcome to read it here, but quoted below are the most pertinent posts for those who want the edited version. I recommended that he return as quiet bear and apologize to everyone himself.
  11. For a short bio on the Emergency Broadcast Network, see this previous post Electronic Behavior Control System
  12. Enjoy the day, Hunter--it's YOUR day!
  13. I remember when there was an ashtray at the end of every aisle in the supermarket. My colleague at work used to smoke while she worked--she was a lab technician, counting cancer cells in biopsies with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth...
  14. 32 - 50 Scores over 32 are generally taken to indicate Asperger's Syndrome or high-functioning autism, with more than 34 an "extreme" score. 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 24 Average math contest winner 23 22 21 Average male or female computer scientist 20 CTC (That's me!) 19 Average male scientist, and average male or female physicist 18 Average man 17 Average female scientist 16 15 Average woman, and average male or female biologist 14 13 0 - 12 I guess they didn't include historians in their initial estimations... Quick! When was the Battle of Hastings! When was the Edict of Milan?! When was the Hundred Years' War! When was Julius Caesar assassinated! Who's buried in Grant's Tomb!
  15. I might complain about the tax if the government eased the restrictions on the import of the only smoke worth smoking--Gudang Garam cloves. But Indonesia is the world's largest Muslim nation you know, and thus a very dangerous thing to buy cigarettes from Muslims it is now--the government has put so many restrictions on importing/paying for them they're becoming rare as hen's teeth...
  16. Ok...I finally tracked down beatbox here... Thanks Moonie.
  17. EBN Bio (from Wikipedia) Emergency Broadcast Network is the name of a multimedia performance group formed in 1991 that took its name from the Emergency Broadcast System. The founders were Rhode Island School of Design graduates Joshua Pearson, Gardner Post and Brian Kane (author of the Vujak VJ software). Kane left EBN in 1991. Josh Pearson, EBN's charismatic front man and principal performance artist, was also EBN's music composer and main video editor. The music and video editing techniques he personally developed and refined have been hugely influential on a generation of advertising and music video editors. The EBN modus operandi was to take cable television broadcasts and remix them with a funky beat, often having the lyrics "sung" not by a singer but by half-second sound clips from TV, spliced together. The group also became well known for their media sculptures and stage props which were created by Gardner Post. -- -------------------- I caught these guys in Providence about 8 or 9 years ago opening up for DJ Spooky. Very surreal. Here is a clip called Dreammaster.
  18. My mom was a huge fan of his when I was growing up. Merv was like the 5th person at the dinner table when I was a kid--we used to watch his show during supper every night. I couldn't stand it. In retrospect though, the music bits he did with Jackie Sheldon was OK.
  19. I've had that happen to me before too...but not in while. Back in the old dial-up Win98 days. It's very frustrating though to spend some time writing something to have it vanish. What are you using for OS/browser/ISP?
  20. I hope they bring pancakes. I could really go for some pancakes right now.
  21. Where's da link? I'll go there and talk to myself right now.
  22. Wow, this is going to be real easy for me to help 50 Cent find a new line of work. I already wasn't going to buy his new album.
  23. Didn't we used to have chat? What about that? Some chat? Hey that rhymes.
