  1. Banty's make decent fighting cocks, so I've heard from the oldtimers. And they make good sandwiches too! I come from a long-established swamp yankee farming family--so raising animals for food is something that I grew up with. While most people go "ewww, gross" when you tell them that, all I can say is that the quality of life for chickens or other critters on my farm is infinitely better than that of the animals these same people buy at Walmart. And no steroids, antibiotic drips, or artificial additives. Just lots of elbow room, green grass and open space. And no fraternizing and no names, if you want to stick your plan to eat them. But keeping them as pets is cool in my book too. I've kept a few critters myself that had been destined for the auction or the freezer, mostly because someone had named them...Blubo the sheep was the lord of the farm for 11 years... Congratulations on the latest additions to your family, Method!
  2. Interesting. Democrats would raise taxes? My state & local taxes have shot through the roof under Bush after he gutted funding to just about everything. He also set the all-time record for biggest annual budget spending increases, more than any other president in US history. Democrats would expand the government? Bush created the largest government department bureaucracy in the history of the United States. It's called the Bureau of Homeland Security. He led decisively on national security? Bush set the all-time record for most days on vacation by any president in US history. After taking the entire month of August off for vacation, he presided over the worst security failure in US history. I'd say that's a tough record to beat...it would take a uniquely incompent individual to beat all that!
  3. 21% would PAY to watch Osama bite the big one? I can just see the dish network ads now... On Pay-Per-View this week, WWF Death Grip Final Obliteration! Stone Cold Steve Austin! World Terror Osama Bin-Laden! See the blood!!! Only $29.95!
  4. Here's a follow-up from http://www.virginmegamagazine.com/default.asp?aid=B7D Rumors started flying last week when singer Mark Lanegan posted on his web site that he and Queens Of The Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri had exited the band, leaving only frontman Josh Homme and a rotating drummer that sometimes includes Foo Fighter's Dave Grohl. The idea of an official break-up of the band was all the more shocking since Homme and Oliveri had been friends since childhood, while growing up in the Palm Springs area of California. As teenagers, the duo had formed the psychedelic, desert rock band Kyuss together, then split off to form QOTSA, which quickly garnered international acclaim. In recent months, reports of Homme's alleged excesses, with his girlfriend Brody Armstrong (lead singer of the Distillers and former wife of Rancid's Tim Armstrong) supposed bad influence were not uncommon. Fans, however, felt the grumbling was simply the aches and pains of a band that just completed a grueling tour scheduled that involved two years of dates following the massive success of their album, Songs for the Deaf (Interscope). Adding flame to the fire, this weekend (2/14) The Desert Sun ran a front page story on the Coachella festival highlighting that “valley native Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age will return for the third year with his side project, Desert Sessions, consisting of various local and out-of-town musicians.” In an official statement from the band's label, things were explained this way, "Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme and Nick Oliveri have recently parted ways. A number of incidents occurring over the last 18 months have led to the decision that the two can no longer maintain a working partnership in the band. The Queens, continuing under frontman Josh Homme, will begin work on a new album this spring." ____________________________ Personally, I'm hoping for a Kyuss reunion...
  5. As an aside, the Coachella shows look damn hot--wish I could go! Not just for the Pixies--the Saturday May 1 show also features Radiohead (headlining), Kraftwerk, Wilco, International Noise Conspiracy, Sparta, Desert Sessions, Future Sound of London, Death Cab for Cutie, and Mark Farina amongst a dozen and a half others. Sunday May 2 has another 25 or so bands, including The Cure (headlining), Flaming Lips, Air, Basement Jaxx, Paul Van Dyk, Crystal Method, Adam Freeland and Mogwai... Of the two, if I had to pick one, it's tough but I'd have to go with Saturday. Desert Sessions, FSOL, Radiohead AND the Pixies?!? Me brain is already thinking how to get away with blackmail or bank robbery so as to afford go to this... :duck hunt:
  6. Sorry about that rainbowdemon (and community at large)...I got so carried away with posting those two bad puns like Bud-ump Cha! I didn't think about what I was doing... Sex outside of the context of marriage is bad, m'kay? Masturbation is bad, m'kay? Water sports are bad, m'kay?
  7. Well, I got my check in the mail today from the CD MAP Aintitrust Litigation. $13.86...it's almost enough to go buy a fucking CD!!!
  8. They oughta headline Lollapalooza this year...at least then we might get a chance to see them. Not surprised they are selling out shows in three minutes--I tried to get tickets to a Pixies show at Brown University in the early 90's, and same thing--tickets gone in 30 seconds. Not being a Brown student didn't help either, ivy league self-righteous bastards. Pixies kick ass!
  9. Wolfie! Good to see you here, hail fellow, well met! It's pretty cool here, way less BS than well never mind. You'll like it here! Here's to Wolfie!!!

  12. Nice to see you guys (and gals) here! Spam there is no. Spam to the soul like bread is, lol
  13. Have a great birthday Dude! .............jammin'2 *As the band plays the ska version of the Beatles Birthday Song*
  14. Looking at boobs is healthy, according to doctors. http://www.abcstories.com/stories/health.html Bad news for leg men, methinks. Actually the story turns out to be a hoax...but I still think there should be a study done on this. I would freely volunteer my time!
  15. Where's the whole list? Can't find it anywhere! Though I did find out about #46 "Russian Lesbians Unite And Take Over" at http://www.tatu.us/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9792 Jim Morrison waving his dick at the audience in Miami '69 should be in there somewhere too...
  16. This kind of research is nothing new. Back in the 50's they were experimenting with LSD to cure alcoholism--in clinical and cotrolled settings acid was found to help alcoholics achieve a "spiritual experience" key to their recovery. Bill Wilson, one of the co-founders of AA, even tried the clinical experiments himself and agreed it would be a great tool in helping alcholics kick the bottle (his biography "Pass It On" has a chapter on it). Hallucinagens are not physically addictive like alcohol, amphetimines, cocaine or barbituates, and are only dangerous when taken in excessive quantities or uncontrolled conditions by individuals either inexperienced with their effects or with already exisitng mental health issues. The backlash against them in 60's were due to people taking extremely large doses with no supervision and then doing things like trying to fly off buildings. Setting is all important--when people take a standard dose of LSD or any other hallucinagenic in calm and benign settings they do fine; but in tense or stressful situations they can (though not always) "freak-out" and then there can be trouble. Talking to the cops when you are tripping totally sucks, as I can attest to from personal experience ...very different from kicking back in your bedroom with your women and some good tunes, lol. Anyway, the war on drugs will probably nix any use of ibogaine or any other similar treatment for addicts, despite the fact that there are reams of reports by clinical psychologists that they would be a boon to treating drug addiction. Our leaders would rather just lock 'em up or let them die of an overdose...
  17. This doesn't come as any big surprise--what was she going to do for the grammy's, regale us all with a beaver shot lol? :rotfl:
  18. YES!! Crystal Method are coming again! A lot of live techno acts consist of watching someone turn knobs and slide levers, real exciting stuff. But when TCM play a live show (not a DJ event but an actual concert) they actually get into the music and jump around, flip their keyboards and put on a real live show. I was really super-impressed when they came to Providence last year--awesome show! Plus everyone who brings a copy of the inner booklet from the Legion of Boom CD to the show will get to meet the band afterwards. Very cool! Dates so for The Crystal Method Legion of Boom tour: 2.26.04 Sacramento, CA @ the Empire 2.27.04 Boise, ID @ the Big Easy 2.28.04 Spokane, WA @ the Big Easy 2.29.04 Calgary, AB @ Whiskey Nightclub 3.01.04 Vancouver, BC @ Commodore Ballroom 3.02.04 Seattle, WA @ the Showbox 3.03.04 Portland, OR @ the Crystal Ballroom 3.04.04 San Francisco, CA @ Warfield Theater 3.05.04 Sparks, NV @ New Oasis 3.06.04 San Diego, CA @ 4th and B 3.08.04 Miami Beach, FL @ Mansion 3.11.04 El Paso, TX @ Club Xcape 3.12.04 Albuquerque, NM @ Sunshine Theater 3.13.04 Tulsa, OK @ Cain's Ballroom 3.14.04 Oklahoma City @ Fritzi's Music Hall 3.16.04 Dallas, TX @ the Gypsy Tea Room 3.17.04 San Antonio, TX @ Sunset Station 3.18.04 South Padre Island, TX @ Louie’s Backyard 3.19.04 Houston, TX @ Numbers 3.21.04 New Orleans, LA @ House of Blues 3.22.04 Gainsville, FL @ The Palace 3.26.04 Tampa, FL @ The Masquerade 3.27.04 Lake Buena Vista, FL @ House of Blues 3.28.04 North Charleston, SC @ the Plex 3.29.04 North Myrtle Beach, SC @ House of Blues 3.30.04 Charlotte, NC @ Tremont Music Hall 4.1.04 Washington DC @ 9:30 Club 4.5.04 Providence RI @ Lupos At The Strand 4.6.04 Boston MA @ Avalon 4.7.04 Rochester NY @ Water Street Music Hall 4.8.04 Toronto Canada @ The Guvernment 4.10.04 Portland ME @ State Theater 4.11.04 Latham NY @ Saratoga Winners 4.14.04 Columbus OH @ Newport Music Hall 4.23.04 Chicago IL @ House Of Blues 4.28.04 Salt Lake City @ Bricks Night Club FYI--This list I cobbled together from several different sources, including my local music/arts paper, which just announced the Providence show on Thursday--it isn't even listed at crystalmethod.com yet, and the April dates aren't in most online sources yet either. The gaps in the latter half of April will probably get filled in soon, so if they aren't coming to a venue near you yet just hang on--they probably announce more northeast & midwest shows than are listed here methinks.
  19. MBV is going to release a 2 box set + a DVD--it's not coming out until next year at the earliest but it sounds very promising. http://www.mybloodyvalentine.net/news/boxset.html None the post-Loveless recordings are going to be included, unfortunately, but all the singles/eps plus live soundboard recordings--very cool!
  20. This is great news. UO were one of my all-time favorite alt-rock band--If they come anywhere near when they tour I highly recommend everyone go out to see them because they are very tight and have excellent songs, good performers too. They had this whole 'aristocrats on stage playing elegantly and sipping martinis' image that they cultivated to good effect. Supersonic Storybook is imo their most consistent release--I reccomend it to anyone who hasn't listened to them before to start there. They were critically acclaimed in their day, but unfortunately were just one of a number of excellent alternative bands from the late 80's-early 90's that just didn't get the airplay and media attention they deserved. Glad to hear they are giving their long-time fans & anyone else who missed them back in the day another chance to check them out.
