well... since you ask, for the past year-or-so I've been the Financial Controller for a group with a combined turnover of £6m. I'll spare all the boring details but suffice it say that I'm the only one in the accounts 'department' so I'm responsible for everything from basic sales invoicing to preparation of full accounts in preperation for audit.

On top of that, because 12+ hrs a day just isn't enough work, ;) I also administer the computer network at work consisting of 12 computers running various versions of Windows from routine maintenance and updating to adding new users and workstations/printers etc.

And to top it all off I'm also studying for my CIMA exams and also A+ and network+ certifications.

...which is nice .

Far more detail than anyone else but you did ask. :)

Ever do any work with Eaton Corp?

Yeah a few years back with their Costa Mesa, CA division. It was for some minature endmills like .010" diameter. It was a slotting operation in some wierd kind of stainless... Do you work for them?

Yep sure do... with the supercharger division.. we make superchargers for Jag, BMW, Mercedes, Ford...etc. I don't know a whole lot about the tooling because I am an office rat... but I do know that we go through shit-tons of endmills... never anything near as small as what you're talking about though.

Wow, it's really neat to know what you people do in that real world place. :)

As for me, I'm just a silly business student that is working at a gas station and somehow ended up assistant manager for the summer.

Supervisor of Word Processing at a law firm in Manhattan. I'm also a stained glass artist which (hopefully) I'll be able to do full time when I take my lead class.

Here's a pic of some of my stuff from my last party.

I love the stained glass Warflower. That must be a very satisfying way to make money. I'd happily have that stuff in every window, so I hope you're still doing commissions when I hit the jackpot :D

I'm an operative for the British government.

000 they call me. I get a white jacket with straps, a rocking chair and a little white poodle.

I sit and count the amout of tiles on the ceiling, and report to them periodically.

Current count, 47. It's a round room though. They said something about "crapping in the corners". I think they're a little crazy.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
