WASHINGTON (AP) -- Nearly 50 people were sent to area hospitals, and more than 200 others were treated for heat exhaustion Saturday at a concert festival at RFK Stadium.

The daylong HFStival, sponsored by local alternative rock radio station WHFS-FM, featured acts performing on several stages. Among the headline performers were The Cure, The Offspring, Papa Roach, Jay-Z and The Violent Femmes.

Back in the day, I remember people passing around jugs of water laced with lsd, etc. You could literally see tons of pills. Now I wonder why the people who drank of of that werent hospitalized!

RFK can get pretty brutal--its like a big bowl where the sun just bakes you and there's no place to go to get out of it. I remember the Dead shows there in July '86 they were hosing the crowd down because it was so hot, and people were passing out all over the place. Though it might not just been from the heat, lol.

We weren't passing the acid 'round in the water jugs that day Dude...it was already in us before we walked in!

I work for an outside concert venue here in Houston, TX.......I couldnt begin to count the number of people that have had to be brought in on backboards and in wheelchairs from the heat amongst all the other things during the summer months. especially all day concerts. The medics in first aid/security have literally had to convert the party tents into cooling areas for some of the all day concerts.

But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
