2008 College Football (US)

Texas Tech tumbled 5 spots, but the rankings look pretty much the same. My team Penn State beat #17 Michigan State to win a trip to the Rose Bowl, where they will play either Oregon State (which they demolished earlier in the year) or USC (which lost to Oregon State). So why is USC ranked higher?? For that matter, Penn State has won more games than a number of teams with higher rankings. :mad2:

There are still some games left. There could still be some shuffling among the top teams.

Hopefully Florida and Alabama and Oregon State will lose a game!

#18 GA Tech plays #13 Georgia

#2 Florida plays #23 Florida State

#19 Oregon plays #17 Oregon St

#5 USC plays unranked Notre Dame

#3 Oklahoma plays # 11 Okla St

#4 Texas beat Texas A & M

Oregon State lost to Oregon, so it looks like USC versus Penn State in the Rose Bowl :) Oklahoma State put up a good fight against Oklahoma. Other than that, there were no major surprises. I will post the new rankings tomorrow

Here are this weeks polls. Alabama, Utah and Boise State are all undefeated - who is to really say which team between 2 and 6 is better than the other?

Ok, we are getting down to the wire. #1 Alabama plays #2 Florida. #4 Oklahoma plays #19 Missouri. And #5 USC plays UCLA. Rooting for Florida and Missouri so Penn State will rise in the polls and play USC in the Rose Bowl.

Anyone else out there rooting for anyone this weekend?

Looks like Bama is gonna loose and USC is gonna win. Now for the Oklahoma vs. Missouri game. I'll root for Missouri also.

Oklahoma had to spoil things ...

Here are the new rankings - no surprises, but my feeling is that anyone of the top 6 teams could be the National Champion. We will see after the bowl games are over

So Florida beats Alabama, and neither one of them move in the BCS poll? Just doesn't seem right to me. Of course the BCS has never seemed right to me.

I think the BCS results are tomorrow

Nebraska is going to the Gator Bowl. Should be a good game, but Nebraska is gonna kill.

Rose Bowl = Penn State .vs USC. I'll root for Penn.

Sugar Bowl = Utah and Alabama. I gotta root for Utah even though I don't think they'll win.

Orange Bowl = Virginia Tech vs. Cincinnati. Don't care who wins here.

Fiesta Bowl = Texas vs. Ohio State. I think I'm gonna root for Ohio St.

BCS Campionship Game = Oklahoma vs. Florida. Too bad they both can't lose. I don't like either team.

Not a bad line up. But I don't think they should limit the BCS Championship Game to Oklahoma and Florida. Penn State, SC and Texas are just as good as those two teams.

Oklahoma's Sam Bradford takes Heisman Trophy

Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford arrived in Norman three years ago with modest hype and low expectations. The Sooners’ coaches acknowledged that they had recruited him for depth behind Rhett Bomar, who had been the country’s top quarterback prospect.

Bradford will meet last year’s winner, Florida's Tim Tebow, in the national title game.

But Bradford’s rise from relative obscurity to national pre-eminence was sealed Saturday night when he won the Heisman Trophy, which is given annually to the country’s most outstanding college football player.

This years title game is going to be amazing. So much offensive firepower.

I seem to remember my Boise State Broncos beating Oklahoma recently (Pre Bradford). I think Florida will do the same.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
