Well, here we are for another season of college football. The big surprise of the weekend was powerhouse Michigan's loss to Utah. My team Penn State beat Coastal Carolina 66-10, but the rankings committee didn't think much about that - wait until we beat Ohio State later this year

Whose your favorite team?

My Huskers are 3-0 so far this season, but they are still sitting outside of the top 25.

Nebraska is usually higher rated - what's up with that?

The #1 team in the country, USC, lost last night to an opponent that my team crushed a couple weeks ago

The Nittany Lions may have gained more respect for their early success long before the 8 p.m. kickoff Saturday, when Oregon State upset top-ranked Southern California, 27-21 on Thursday. Oregon State was routed by the Nittany Lions, 45-14, three weeks ago.

We play #22 Illinois on Saturday, and should be ranked in the high side of the top ten early next week :)

In addition to #1 USC, #2 Georgia and #4 Florida also lost. My team, #12 Penn State beat #22 Illinois - which means that Penn State will probably be in the top 5 teams of the country when the polls come out, and in contention for a National Championship. I will let you know

"THE BIG TEN HAS A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENDER—PENN STATE. Ohio State was supposed to be the school that carried the conference's flag into BCS contention, but the Buckeyes' annihilation at USC dropped them from elite status. Enter the Nittany Lions, whose impressive 38-24 win over Illinois moved Penn State to 5-0 and into the upper echelon. The Nittany Lions have an explosive offense led by an emerging star at quarterback in Daryll Clark. And the defense is a typically salty Joe Paterno unit. October will make or break Penn State, as the Nittany Lions play three of four on the road: at Purdue, at Wisconsin, Michigan, at Ohio State. If college football has taught us one thing, it's to expect the unexpected. So, feel free to start dreaming big, Penn State. You are good."

Big college football weekend for me. My team, #3 Penn State, plays # 10 Ohio State, at Ohio State. The critics are favoring Ohio State because of their home field advantage, but I predict Penn State will win by at least 14 pts :) If they win, they are almost assure of vying for the National Championship against either Texas or Alabama

Penn St Beats Ohio State 13-6

As I predicted :)

This weekend the race for the National Championship escalates with #1 Alabama facing off against #15 LSU, and #* Okla St squaring off against #2 Texas Tech. #3 Penn State is playing Iowa, with an eye on what happens in these two games  You can check out the full weekend schedule for College Football below:

Alabama and Texas Tech remain undefeated. Sadly, my team Penn State, lost by a heartbreaking 1 point, when Iowa kicked a field goal with only seconds remaining. Unless either of those two teams fall, Penn state is unlikely to play for the National Championship, and must beat Michigan State next week to take the Big 10 championship to get in a premier bowl game.

The rest of the scores are below.

None of the top teams have lost, so if Alabama and Texas Tech look like they are headed for a showdown. My team, Penn State looks like its headed to the Rose Bowl, probably against USC - which isn't a bad consolation prize.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
