Young women are leading the way in tearing down sexual taboos in North America, where teenagers are having more sex at a younger age than their parents and grandparents, a new survey showed.

Freewheeling young women in the United States and Canada first have intercourse at the age of 15, partake more in oral sex than previous generations and are far less prudish, according to a landmark new report by researchers at California's San Diego State University.

The Baby Boomers of the 1950s and 1960s began having sex for the first time in college, while youngster of today are having sex for the first time in high school. "There's been a major shift there," Tweng said.

Another important factor is the growing indifference to religious beliefs that had stronger influence in the past. They placed constraints on many behaviors, not just sexual.

Yes, spirituality is still as strong as ever, but it doesn't control lives as much. Interpretations are now more open and all rules are not adopted.

Concerning the whole scope of the article, I wonder, with the growing trend in short lived marriages (10 years or less), and the decline in marriage rates (coupled with non-married but joined people and non-committed), how will future families look?

Should be interesting from an observational standpoint, and should be an emotional battle for those with a strong, non objective stance.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
