"Meet the Parents" Actress Dies

Recommended Posts

nicoledehuff.jpgNicole DeHuff, an actress who played Teri Polo's sister in Meet the Parents, has died of causes related to pneumonia. She was 30.

The actress died Feb. 16 in Hollywood, four days after she reportedly checked into a Los Angeles hospital, was misdiagnosed and sent home with orders to take Tylenol.

When her condition worsened, she returned to the hospital and was prescribed antibiotics for bronchitis and again sent home. Two days later, paramedics were called to her home after she collapsed, gasping for breath. By the time she reached the hospital, she was unconscious and passed away soon after.

Meet the Parents marked DeHuff's feature-film debut. She played Deborah Byrnes, the sister whose wedding prompts Gaylord "Greg" Focker's (Ben Stiller) visit to girlfriend Pam Byrne's (Polo) childhood home to attend the ceremony and, as suggested by the title, meet the parents. Hilarity ensues.

Something went horribly wrong here.

She was only 30, and while pneumonia is no laughing matter (especially to children and the elderly) with the current state of medical advancements, she certainly shouldn't have died.

Medical personnel really FUCKED UP.

I tried to stay out of this thread but the story is too powerful. Somebody needs to have the shit sued out of them.

Medical care should be more than just a business - the profession seems to be losing its way...

Its so sad to see a young talented woman lose her life needlessly...

well, i think by now everyone here knows that for the two years we were stuck in germany cause chris couldn't get another gig there, the reason we dint come back to the states immediately (where we both could try to get jobs) was cause my liver medication was too expensive there. so...y'know, it's all relative. (it's expensive here as well but not as bad as in the states--much cheaper for me to fly to DE every 8 weeks or so and see my doc to re-up there).

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
