  1. The Oscar-nominated songs “I’ll Fight” from “RBG” and “The Place Where Lost Things Go” from “Mary Poppins Returns” will be performed during the upcoming Oscars ceremony after all. 2. Eminem and Jessie Reyez discovered electric musical chemistry, somewhere prior to last year's Kamikaze. The end result was a pair of intimate concoctions of varying nature, the two-part tandem of "Nice Guy" and "Good Guy." The latter, which in some ways operates as Kamikaze's unofficial closer, was one of the few selections to earn the visual treatment. In true Em fashion, the "Good Guy" clip was a production to behold, with Jessie herself playing an integral role; the Canadian singer had a chance to flex some dramatic chops alongside Slim, himself no stranger to the dramatic. Today, Em and Jessie took to Instagram to provide a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the production, albeit a brief one. Still, the kink factor is high, with both parties reflecting on a safety word (or lack thereof), before Jessie winds up for her big moment. One eager participant steps up to the plate, encouraging Jessie to make her slaps resonate, pulling nothing back. Jessie acquiesces, proving that her "pimp hand strong" in this instance. The man himself seems pleased, and Em can't help but watch it all unfold, dumbstruck. Method acting is alive and well in the music video business. Would you take a slap from Jessie Reyez for the good of a production? Don't answer that. View the full article

  11. Last week, the NBA announced the team captains and starting lineups for the All-Star Game. LeBron James will lead the West, and Giannis Antentokounmpo will head the East. The West is stacked, with James supported by Steph Curry, James Harden, Kevin Durant, and Paul George. Giannis isn't helpless though, he has Kyrie Irving, Joel Embiid, Kemba Walker, and Kawhi Leonard to back him up. Now, the NBA has announced the reserve list for each team to draft from. The All-Star captains can draft any of the players from the reserve list, despite which conference they play for. The reserves for the West look insane next to the East, but everyone will be up for grabs. While most of those who were voted into the reserves are no surprise, the absence of Derrick Rose, D’Angelo Russell, and Luka Doncic shocked some. The Victor Oladipo injury will allow another player to step up in his place. Check out the reserves below and catch the NBA All-Star Draft Show on Thursday, February 7 at 7 PM on TNT. The 2019 NBA All-Star Game will take place on Sunday, February 17. Eastern Conference Victor Oladipo, Indiana Pacers Kyle Lowry, Toronto Raptors Blake Griffin, Detroit Pistons Khris Middleton, Milwaukee Bucks Ben Simmons, Philadelphia 76ers Bradley Beal, Washington Wizards Nikola Vucevic, Orlando Magic Western Conference Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunder Anthony Davis, New Orleans Pelicans Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets Damian Lillard, Portland Trail Blazers Klay Thompson, Golden State Warriors LaMarcus Aldridge, San Antonio Spurs Karl-Anthony Towns, Minnesota Timberwolves View the full article
  12. H.E.R. grabbed Bryson Tiller for "Could've Been" last year, but the smooth single is getting an official remix. A number of artists have attempted to remix this track themselves, such as BJ The Chicago. There's just something about H.E.R.'s nostalgic love ballad that brings out powerful emotion. She enlists Tone Stith for the remix, which doesn't stray from the feeling of the original. Tone Stith's vibe on the track meshes well with H.E.R.'s. He hits extreme highs vocally while highlighting his emotional lows. It would have been nice to hear more of a variation on the remix, but the song rides none the less. Stith is a good swap for Tiller, but both versions of the songs are on point. 13. Statik Selectah and Termanology dropped off their joint project Still 1982 in November 2018. The refreshing reversion to vintage hip-hop sounding records was welcome, and the duo keeps the momentum rolling into the New Year with visuals off the project. "It’s On You" featuring Lil Fame from M.O.P. and Haile Supreme was a personal favorite that touches on the law of attraction. Now, a video for the single has arrived. It takes more than just a sign or a blessing to make your dreams come true. Real hustle pays off. In the visuals for "It's On You," Termanology, Lil Fame, and Haile Supreme remind viewers of that ancient wisdom. The artists lay their lyrics down in the comfort of the streets they are familiar with. There aren't any flashy effects or gorgeous locations in "It's On You," which keeps the message grounded in the reality of the hustle. View the full article
  14. 38 Spesh must love to read Robert Greene. Greene wrote The 48 Laws of Power, The Art of Seduction, The 33 Strategies of War, Mastery, and The Laws of Human Nature. The most popular of the batch is 48 Laws, which has been cited as a must-read book by business tycoons, politicians, hustlers, and CEOs. 50 Cent even reimaged the book as his own The 50th Law alongside Greene. 38 Spesh delivers his own spin on the novel with his latest project 38 Strategies Of RAW. 38 Spesh's new album contains ten songs and features guest appearances from Fred The Godson, Klass Murda, Green Double, Benny, and Che Noir. The project sounds like nostalgic 90s hip-hop with an updated arsenal, designed by 38 Spesh. Just a week ago, Spesh dropped 5 Shots: Samples Of RAW as a warm-up, but we weren't prepared for this. 15. Two weeks ago, A$AP Ant sent the nation into a frenzy when he seemingly announced his departure from the A$AP Mob. "Went solo," was his first cryptic tweet before he followed it up with a more clarifying, but still vague, "Left the group and went solo." A$AP Mob members do enjoy very independent solo careers, so fans questioned what would cause Ant to end the connection altogether. There hasn't been much clarity since, but now there's at least a new song. A$AP Ant enlisted Slayter for his new single "Armored Truck." The braggadocious banger hits hard, finding strength in wall rattling bass and bombastic synths. The hectic sound works best when instruments are soloed, allowing Ant to break off an effective flow. 16. Stalley is one of the most underrated artists in the game right now. He kept his fans entertained with his Tell The Truth: Shame The Devil series last year, which is worth a listen if you missed it. The string of projects kept the Ohio rapper relevant, and he packed each outing with heartfelt lyrics and potent knowledge. Stalley sticks to that same method with his new EP Human. He announced the new project along with the first single, "I Don't See," just a week before the slated release. The six-track effort features appearances from Pregnant Boy and J. Black, who are credited all over the album. The production of the project leans heavily into jazz and neo-soul but still remains a solid hip-hop outing. Human is the perfect name for such a soul-stirring project. Let us know if you're feeling the new Stalley below. View the full article
  17. It looks like 2 Chainz and Ariana Grande have ended their mild beef. When the gorgeous vocalist dropped "7 Rings" earlier in January, Soulja Boy came at her for stealing his flow. Soulja has been accusing everyone of being his offspring recently, but his jab at Grande garnered more attention than some of his more obscure rantings. 2 Chainz took to Instagram to question the music video for "7 Rings," hinting that it looked eerily similar to his Haunted Pink Trap House. "Tryna figure out if I should Big Draco @arianagrande," joked 2 Chainz, stirring up a mild beef. Apparently, Grande took no offense since she recruited him for the remix. 2 Chainz takes command of the second verse on the "7 Rings" remix, employing autotune over a creeping flow for immaculate results. In all honestly, Chainz sounds like he belongs on this instrumental. Maybe he should put out a remix of his own. Quotable Lyrics My ideas are priceless, I know I'm the nicest I knew you would like this, I must be psychic I'm from the streets, baby, I'm nothing like them (Tru) She's sweet in the day, but freaky when night come (Tell 'em) View the full article
  18. Chantel Jeffries has been killing the game since she signed to Universal Music Group last year. As a DJ and producer, Jeffries has orchestrated bangers such as "Wait" featuring Offset and "Better" with Blocboy JB and Vory. Now, Jeffries has returned with another home run. Entitled "Facts," the new single features YG, Rich The Kid, and Bia. The title plays on the most popular, and somewhat overused, term in hip-hop at the moment. In the era of fake news, nothing is more important than the facts. Both YG and Rich The Kid come with the energy on this one. Both artists take control of the record, but the catchy chorus also does its part. This is a track that will be circulating in the clubs for the next few months. Are you guys feeling this new Chantel Jeffries track? Quotable Lyrics Cool black and a tint black Right now I got two beef, big macs Bad bitch, ponytail, hair slicked back Break her off a piece of that Kit-Kat Jag, these off white pockets fat That Louis briefcase hold them racks Got damn, YG, boy you getting fat Bitch chill, I been right there where the money at View the full article
  19. Lil West is making sure his voice is heard in 2019. West hails from Delaware, a state that isn't known for its wealth of hip-hop history or successful artists. Someone has to be the first though, right? The young up-and-comer should be on your radar in 2019. West ended off 2018 with two singles, "Baller" and "Give It All Up," and he continues to bless his fans in 2019 with the new banger "Somedays." The emotional single finds West bearing his soul in autotune laced drawls. "Somedays" begins with West talking directly to someone he has hurt. He immaculately conveys the ups and downs one feels when in a hectic relationship. Produced by Russ Chell & Take a Daytrip, "Somedays" features an instrumental that helps West complete his vivid impassioned vision. Quotable Lyrics I'm the one that's taking the fall Somedays I just don't want to talk Somedays I just want all your love Somedays I don't answer no calls I know all these days you was lost View the full article
  20. Earlier this week, Gunna promised to bless fans with new music. He has delivered on that promise with the new banger "One Call." Last year was a crazy one for Gunna, and we're sure he'll hit 2019 with the same energy. Produced by Turbo, "One Call" is an undeniable jam. Gunna also announced that he's working on the sequel to 2017’s Drip or Drown EP, and this may be the first sample of the project. "One Call" features an instrumental that sounds like it was made underwater. Gunna uses the deep sea ambiance to flow onto the track, wrapping an addicting melody around the percussions. Like usual, Gunna raps about his riches and his lifestyle with a cool demeanor. Will Gunna's latest track satiate his fan base? Let us know if you're feeling "One Call" below. 21. Earlier this week, Wiz Khalifa shared a hilarious clip on his Instagram that showed a man doing the "You are not the father" dance on Maury. "Im tellin you I’m #alright," wrote Wiz as the caption. Little did we know that Wiz was preparing a new single for his fans. On Thursday night, Wiz's Soundcloud blessed fans with "Alright," a new track featuring Trippie Redd and Preme. The hype new banger features an auto-tuned chorus that will get stuck in your head immediately. Canadian artist Preme kicks off the track with a spirited verse, and Wiz comes to clean up the second verse. Trippie takes chorus duties, laying down an autotune laced melody. Khalifa dropped off Rolling Papers 2 last year, but it's possible that a new Taylor Gang or Wiz project will touch down in 2019 as well. Quotable Lyrics Black and yellow with the pedal, getting rich but from the ghetto Took off to another level, been to war and got the medal Different flows, I got several Different clothes, hopping out expensive doors Never let a nigga pose View the full article
  22. Last August, Nicki Minaj dropped Queen, which was her triumphant return to the game. There was a four-year gap between Minaj's last album and her latest one, so her fans were more than excited when Queen touched down. Although it's been a half a year since the project touched down, Minaj is still in promo mode. The Queen herself announced that she would be dropping a music video for "Hard White" on Thursday night, and lo and behold, it has arrived. "Hard White" was a fan favorite, and a good selection for Minaj to bless with a music video. Directed by Mike Ho, the visuals for "Hard White" use religious symbolism to paint a haunting backdrop for Minaj. Derranged nuns and chalk white demonic looking beings help hammer home the creepy vibe of the video, but the shots of Minaj sitting in a futuristic throne are the real eye catcher. 23. Kxng Crooked has been blessing the world with his Hip Hop Weekly series. Without missing a step, Crooked is back for the next single in his series. He already dropped off “96GS,” “Halfway Me,” “Pistol Grip,” and “Once Upon A Time In The LBC,” and now, Crooked continues his run with "Ridin’ Wit The Blower." Much like the previous records in the Hip Hop Weekly series, "Ridin’ Wit The Blower" is a lyrical onslaught. This isn't for the radio. Crooked's latest single would be the perfect background music while working out in the gym or plotting the demise of your enemies. Whichever works best for you. We can't wait to see what Crooked has cooking next week. 24. G Herbo is kicking off the New Year with a new project that he only announced two days ago. Herbo reunited with Southside for Still Swervin, a 15-track effort that has a high replay value. Still Swervin is a spiritual successor to Herbo and Southside's last project, Swervo. When that project dropped last Summer, Herbo told Billboard why he chose to stick with Southside. "Southside is my brother," he stated. "He wants to see me win. That's one guy I can genuinely say wants the best for me no matter if he gains from it or not. He doesn't even have to make a dollar. That's just something I feel not all artists have. If you do have someone like that in your corner, you should appreciate them and try to make the best of that relationship." Still Swervin features guest appearances from Gunna, Lil 40, Pretty Savage, Juice WRLD, Wheezy, and DJ Victorious.
