  1. Despite it appearing as though he was killed off at the end of the first "Black Panther" movie, it seems as though Michael B. Jordan will be reprising his role as Killmonger in the rumored sequel to Black Panther. The news comes courtesy of Angela Bassett's husband Courtney B. Vance, who talked about Jordan on the red carpet of the SAG Awards. According to CinemaBlend, Jordan spoke about a potential sequel at the SAG Awards and had this to say: "Sequels, I think, are one of the hardest films to make, and I feel like to create a world and build upon it that’s so beautifully and delicately woven into the world of the Marvel Universe — but throughout cinema in general, you take Marvel out of it, I think it’s a movie that stands against all film across the board. So yeah, I think if there was an opportunity, I think everybody would be pretty excited to come back around." It appears as though Ryan Coogler, who directed the first "Black Panther," would be back for the second one. Considering it's Marvel we're talking about here, a sequel is probably a definite thing at this point. What are your hopes for the next "Black Panther" film? View the full article
  2. "Writing On The Wall" begins with a spoken word intro performed by Snoop Dogg, on the topic of "closing the gap." K Camp's reliance on the Doggfather's wisdom is but another example of a gravitational pull that keeps Uncle Snoop spritely as ever before. But even though "Uncle Snoop" is of service to any rapper who takes heed (and shows humility), "Writing On The Wall" is essentially a song about K Camp's process of growth, no one else. K Camp uploaded the stencil to his SoundCloud where he's often at his philanthropic best. On "Writing On The Wall," Camp emphasizes the need to keep the past behind YOU, in a concerted 2nd-person voice, like a teacher, mentor of the Uncle Snoop-variety. Over time, K Camp's music has adopted a discerning tone, in his ability to distinguish subject material on two ends: matters of the heart and the general pettiness of social interaction. He doesn't have to say it outright, but the effects of fatherhood have made K Camp a wizened individual. Check out "Writing On The Wall" and hit us with your thoughts. 3. Lil Baby most recently released his mixtape Street Gossip and has been all over the place in 2018 as he has popped up as a featured artist on some pretty big projects and songs. The rapper has now released a music video for his song "Global." Throughout the video, we see Lil Baby going from city to city, including Paris, Manchester, and Lagos in Nigeria. 4. Boston Celtics All Star point guard Kyrie Irving has reportedly signed on to star in, and executive produce, an upcoming film about Oklahoma's infamous Skirvin Hotel. Numerous NBA teams, including those which Irving has played on, have stayed at the Skirvin Hotel over the years but some players refuse to stay there because of its haunted reputation. “Having had my own interesting experiences at the Skirvin Hotel, I connected with this idea immediately,” said Irving (H/T Variety). “To work with Brian Grazer is a dream come true, and I’m excited to bring this project to life with the Imagine Entertainment team.” The hotel was opened in 1911, and the paranormal activity is believed to have started in the 1930s when the hotel’s owner had an affair with a chambermaid, leading to her tragic death. The horror film, produced by Imagine Entertainment chairman Brian Grazer and Bobby Cohen, will blend scares with satire, wit and social commentary inspired by the history of the Skirvin Hotel, according to Variety. "I’d heard rumors about the Skirvin before, but once we realized that by coupling the deliciously eerie with the fascinatingly relevant, we were on to something big with this one,” Cohen said. “Kyrie is an ideal collaborator and this is a great movie to make with Imagine.” View the full article

  8. Jussie Smollett was attacked this week in Chicago, and the news has sent a shockwave through the industry. Allegedly, Smollett was jumped by two white men in ski masks after he left a Subway restaurant. The two men beat Smollett, placed a rope around his neck and doused him in bleach. The Empire star took himself to the hospital, where he was treated for a fractured rib and released. Now, TMZ is reporting that Smollett's neighbor saw a suspicious man hours before the attack. Paul Zimmerman/Getty Images The media site spoke to the woman, who asked to remain anonymous. She claims that she saw a man that looked like a "redneck" loitering outside her and Smollett's building. She left the building at 12:30 AM on Tuesday to take her dogs for a walk and saw the man near the door, pacing between the parking garage and entrance. Allegedly, the man was looking agitated and smoking a cigarette. She claims that, "He looked out of place." She further described him as a white man with scruff wearing a blue winter beanie, a blue zip-up sweatshirt with a hood, and blue jeans that were too short, exposing "thick, grey hunting socks" with beige dress shoes. The neighbor claims she saw what looked like a rope, or a clothesline, handing from the bottom of his sweatshirt. It is possible that this man is one of the "persons of interest" that investigators are currently looking into. View the full article
  9. It's only been two months since Cardi B and Offset broke up, but it feels like much longer. The power couple called it quits after Cardi B had enough with Offset's alleged cheating ways. Since the break-up in December, Offset has been trying to win his lover back over with gifts, vacations, and spontaneous appearances at her shows. 10. Kid Buu and Blac Chyna allegedly got into a physical altercation last weekend while they were on vacation in Hawaii. Reports claimed that Chyna came at Buu about cheating, and the subsequent argument got violent. Allegedly, Buu slammed Chyna's head against the wall several times and choked her. The stories circulated online for days, but now Kid Buu is refuting those claims. Buu is stating that he never placed his hands on Chyna. "I'ma let ya'll know right now," began Buu on a social media post. "That's bullshit. That really is bullshit. My mother, my mom, raised me better than that. I will never put my hands on a woman. Never have I, and never will I... I was raised better than that. In fact, I was raised that if you ever feel like it had to get there with a woman, leave her. Dump her. Dump her son. Don't you ever put your hands on her. You dump that woman before it ever gets there." Buu continued on to blame the media for spreading click-bait articles, which isn't entirely false. Still, the entire story surrounding him and Chyna is out of the media's hands. At this point, it has become a he-say-she-say situation. View the full article
  11. Anthony Davis announcing that we wanted a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans shook up the NBA. Just a few months ago, Davis was spotted rubbing shoulders with LeBron James. Rumors began to circulate that he would be heading to Los Angeles to squad up with James on the Lakers. The rumors died down though, and Davis reaffirmed that he was only focused on bringing a championship to New Orleans. That's why his apparent 180-degree turn caught the Pelicans off guard. According to ESPN, "Davis was absent through almost the entirety of the team's pregame hype video prior to tipoff, and he was removed from an image of the entire Pelicans roster with the motto 'Do It Big' at the conclusion of the video." The fact the Pelicans took time to re-edit the pre-game video that introduces the players speaks volumes. Management is obviously not happy with Davis' decision to leave the city, and are making it known. "I've never even seen that video," New Orleans coach Alvin Gentry stated after the game. "I really haven't. I'm not avoiding anything, but -- I couldn't tell you who's on that and who's not." A league source told ESPN that Davis' removal from the video "was an intentional decision the Pelicans made in an effort to prevent negativity around Davis." Do you believe them? 12. Everybody likes a free deal. A chance to get something without giving anything up, the hookup, the freebie. Microsoft understands that keeping their customers happy will, in turn, keep their own pockets full. The brutal and exhilarating game will be free to play for Xbox Live Gold members throughout the weekend, starting on January 31 and ending on February 3. Gears of War 4 will turn three years old this Fall, so it isn't like Microsoft is blessing gamers with a new title. Still, the replay value is high on the brutal third-person shooter... and free is free. Gears of War is based in a post-apocalyptic alternate Earth where creatures from underground rise up and wipe out most of humanity. Gamers must play as a member of the Coalition, a military program that aims to destroy the underground enemies. The entire Gears of War series is also available as part of Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass subscription service, so you can dive into the entire story. Gears of War 4 will run at up to 60fps in 4K with HDR if you're gaming on the Xbox One X, giving players the crispest look for the free game. View the full article
  13. James Gunn was fired by Disney after decade-old tweets resurfaced where he made distasteful jokes. Gunn helmed the first two Guardians Of the Galaxy movies, and they were a huge success for Disney and Marvel. Still, his internet quips were offensive enough to convince Disney head Bob Iger to cut Gunn off for good. Warner Bros and DC Comics were eager to scoop Gunn up though, and he bounced back with Marvel's rival. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn is in talks to direct the Suicide Squad sequel. "The pic has the title of The Suicide Squad and is not being labeled a direct sequel but as a relaunch," wrote Borys Kit for THR. Sources claim that Gunn is planning to take the franchise in a new direction, using mostly new characters instead of following the previous film. Suicide Squad starred Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, and Jared Leto and killed it at the box office. It made $746 Million worldwide, but fans and critics despised it. Gunn was already hired to write the script, so Warner Bros' move to lock him down as a director doesn't come as a surprise. The Suicide Squad is slated for a Summer 2021 release, so it may be a while before we get any new information. View the full article
  14. Captain Marvel is set to arrive in theaters in about a month, but fans are eager for any nugget of new information. They are in luck. An international trailer for Captain Marvel touched down in Russia, and of course, eager Marvel fans got their hands on it over here. The trailer is filled with many of the same scenes we've already watched in the American version, but one important piece has been added to the puzzle. In the international trailer, Nicky Fury's beeper gets highlighted in a scene with Captain Marvel. The footage is in Russian, but it appears that Captain Marvel requests the pager from Fury after learning of its purpose. The pager in question was featured in the last scene of Avengers: Infinity War. After Nicky Fury watches Agent Hill turn to dust in front of him, he panics and runs to grab the pager. As Fury turns to dust himself, the pager connects to Captain Marvel on the other end. Exactly how a pager could work across the universe is anybody's guess, but maybe Captain Marvel is closer to Earth than we may think. Marvel Studio head Kevin Feige has already revealed that she is the most powerful hero they have placed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to this point, which means she'll be essential in ending Thanos. 17. Supa Bwe's been a name that's been getting a lot of traction over the past year and some change. The Chicago native's been dishing out some dope music throughout the years and standing out amongst his contemporaries with his unique sound. 18. Tekashi 6ix9ine looks like he might be behind bars for a long time if he's convicted in his federal case. He isn't here to entertain us on Instagram anymore but we're constantly getting updates on his current legal situation. Earlier today, it was reported that the rainbow-haired rapper "dropped the dime" on one of his associates for the Chief Keef shooting. Unfortunately, the person he reportedly pinned to the crime is someone who was seen heavily in his early music videos, Kooda B. However, this news isn't shocking to Meek Mill who thinks 6ix9ine's scenario is a shame. Bennett Raglin/Getty Images Meek Mill is back on Twitter heavily these days, interacting with fans and chiming in on the latest news. After reports on 6ix9ine's scenario emerged, Meek Mill took to the social media platform to share his thoughts on the recent news on 6ix9ine. "That’s a shame," he wrote. "when I came home everybody was like he got some real dudes backing him “ I was like how” y’all better stop running behind rappers acting like y’all ready to throw y’all lives away over some stupid shit .. I seen this coming a while ago." Meek previously spoke on Tekashi 6ix9ine's scenario during the Championships press run. The rapper explained that he thinks 6ix9ine is a good kid but he got caught up in the streets when he shouldn't have even been in it in the first place. "I'd hit him like that shit you doing is stupid at this point. I know you might have got on from doing it and it worked out to be able to make some money. But I think you need to slow down," he said. 19. Lil Wayne had the same lawyer for over 13 years up until September 2018. However, it seems the reason why Wayne gave his ex-lawyer the boot is due to some hefty fees that reportedly amount to $20M. Now, Wayne is taking his former attorney to court. Kevin Winter/Getty Images According to TMZ, Lil Wayne filed a $20M lawsuit against his former attorney who represented him from 2005 to September 2018. The rapper said that the lawsuit is based on the fact that he's been overcharged while working with Sweeney for 13 years. In documents obtained by the publication, Wayne claimed Sweeney's been charging him 10% of every deal he's closed. The issue with this is that Sweeney allegedly didn't disclose that the industry standard is half of that. Wayne said that Sweeney made $20M off of him alone based on the outrageous cut he took. Sweeney got a little money hungry throughout his dealings with Wayne, according to court documents. Sweeney reportedly proposed to receive an additional 10% of all profits from Young Money but Lil Wayne said that he shut that down very quickly. Wayne claimed that Sweeney even hired another law firm to help in the litigation between Wayne and Cash Money over Tha Carter V deal. Weezy said that the firm received 23% of the Cash Money settlement and an additional 15% of the settlement money from the Universal Music Group settlement. Weezy claimed that those numbers were on top of the Sweeney's 10%. View the full article
  20. Soulja Boy is experiencing a massive comeback of his own creation. The entertainer took on a bunch of entrepreneurial endeavors with apparent success. 22. B. Smith, a lifestyle guru often compared to Martha Stewart, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease six years ago. Her husband Dan Gasby, who has acted as her caretaker since then, landed himself in hot water after making his extramarital affair public. Many cite their belief in the sanctity of marriage as the reason for their disapproval. Others claim his relationship with his girlfriend Alex Lerner should have been kept private given Smith's mental condition in addition to the values upon which she built her career. B. Smith & Dan Gasby in 2013 (Paul Morigi/Getty Images) Since the scandal, all three parties have participated in the creation of a video published alongside an article in The Washington Post on January 28. Here's an excerpt. “Hellllllo!” B. said as she shuffled over to Alex, whom she has come to know only as her friend. “How are you?” Alex, 53, asked warmly. She has a room in this house, where she stays when she makes the roughly two-hour drive from her Manhattan home. “Wait, wait, wait, lemme, Barbara,” B. said, wrapping Alex in a hug. “I was talking over there, with the baby . . . that was caught late . . . she’s a little, you know. We were there, we played candy, we do it all the time.” Alex smiled and nodded, though she knew there was no baby. B. is still a charmer, quick to join conversations, full of laughter. But her sentences are often just words, incongruously strung together. When faced with the backlash for his decisions, Dan Gasby lashed out at his critics: NEWSFLASH! To the nickel & dime PayPal thot troll named after two European cities B lived in and all of us have travelled too extensively, to the writer and editor at The Neg-Grio! Who ginned up controversy by covertly spewing racist innuendo, to the bloggers who wallow in the mud and filth of lies, to the idiots and ignorant people calling for my arrest and saying B is or has ever been abused I only wish someone in your immediate family has Alzheimer’s so you can see feel and experience the pain of millions of people across this country so you can know first hand what it’s like to care 24/7/365 for someone who can no longer care for themselves! 23. Jussie Smollett received an outpour of support after he was viciously attacked by masked men. Police have been investigating the situation but they've yet to make an arrest. However, they are getting close. According to TMZ, police have found the persons of interest they're looking for but they need the help of the public to track them down. Police managed a lead in Jussie Smollett's case after spotting a lead in surveillance footage. Chicago PD said they found an angle in the footage that revealed "persons of interest wanted for questioning" in the assault against Jussie Smollett. However, people are being careful in referring to the people they're looking for as suspects in the case. Police said they'll be releasing pictures of the persons of interest very soon. A few hours before announcing they've found their persons of interests, Chicago Police tweeted that "no video of the alleged assailants or a vehicle has been discovered but we are continuing to broaden our search." 24. Confidence comes naturally for Los Angeles rapper D Savage. Standing six feet, three inches, it feels as if Savage towers over a majority of the game. His presence is reflected in his speech, coming across as self-assured as he bounces from topic-to-topic, catching tangents and marveling at the little details. His energy intensifies when describing his origin story, growing up in a household in which Afrika Bambaataa was a mainstay. Despite being nursed on one of the game's foundational artists, Savage is quick to shed the lyrical label. "I more make, like, sounds," he explains. "My mom always had good music, and different sounds going through my ear." Like many young artists, Savage listens to a variety of genres, naming bands like Tame Impala, Mac DeMarco, and MGMT as some of his favorites. "When I was starting to rap, I couldn't really make that type of music," he says. "Growing up, I been banging only Chief Keef, Tame Impala, that's all I can really think of. I taught myself how to play the piano when I was young so I kinda got a grasp. I'ma tell you some weird shit. Queen, "Bohemian Rhapsody," I can play that on piano. I'm pretty weird. I can do some pretty weird shit." Let the self-professed "weirdness" unfold on the latest episode of On The Come Up. Photo By HNHH --- Speaking about his experience hanging out with Tyler, The Creator, Savage is quick to dole out the praise. "He taught me a lot," explains Savage. "Facts. He a real music head, bro. He really studies music, real shit. I had to sit back and kind of study. Music goes a long way." Though he understands the importance of mastering one's craft at a deeper level, he also shows love to "SoundCloud rap," doing his due dilly in shaking negative perceptions. "I really don't give a fuck," he grins. "I get money. I don't care what the next person say. I'm trying to be the best at this music shit, and if you ain't with me you against me....I'm trying to be a goat in this shit." He proceeds to shoutout Ty Dolla $ign, who he dubs his brother. "I never been in the studio with him," reveals Savage. Upon actually crossing paths with Ty Dolla, Savage proposed a song concoction, which went on to be garner the Ty seal of approval. "I recorded that, and a couple days pass by, I'm really sitting listening to that song, and I think I could hear this on the radio...I ain't never made a song like...I seen a kid dancing to it, I seen an old lady dancing to it," he explains. Upon sending it to Ty, the rest was history. Upon reflecting on his five-year plan, Savage cites one of the greats. "I like the approach Pharrell took," says Savage. "When you look a Pharrell, you think of someone that can drop consistent hits. But he also don't give a fuck at the same time, cause knows he can do this shit effortless. I want to be like that...I might fuck around and do some more drawing.... I just want to be the best at what I do, and have fun though. At the end of the day, it's all about having fun. 25. Rapsody sat down with DJ Booth to discuss her memorable interactions with Mac Miller dating back to their first meeting when the Pittsburgh-native showed up to 9th Wonder's Jamla Soundlab ready to compute. This was back in 2010 when Khrysis and 9th had made his connection in the Idlewild times of Twitter. Rapsody, who was on hand for the impromptu session, remembers a younger Mac Miller as an "energetic kid who was filled with so much love." Within that very session, Mac, 9th, and Rapsody were able to muster enough creative energy to craft one of their lone songs together, the rare song where Miller actually employs a "sniper-like flow" in lieu of mopey-ness that became his calling card for years to come. Several days after completing the record, a light went off in Mac Miller's head, leading him to ask 9th Wonder for permission to grab Rapsody for an upcoming tour. “Yo, I wanna bring Rapsody on the road with me," he asked without trepidation. As luck would have it, the invite would be the first of Rapsody's career, thanks to Mac Miller's generosity. Rapsody remembers the ill-fated stop in Fort Lauderdale better than the rest, because of an instance where Mac Miller came to her defense onstage. According to Rapsody, the crowd already drenched due to monsoon-like weather conditions on the outside, was forced to endure 4 acts in their soaking outfits by the time a then-unknown hit the stage for her 30-minute opening set - if it weren't for an impassioned interjection from Mac Miller, the crowd would have revolted against her, in their sad state. “Yo, Rap is my friend and she’s gonna finish her set," Mac Miller demanded from the unfocused crowd. "And Y'all are gonna show respect.” And as history would have it, the crowd fell in line, and even grew to love her "Return of the B-Girl" stylings minutes later. Check out the rest of the interview right here. The deeper we dig, the more we learn of Mac Miller's strong desire to make discernible connections with real people. They just happened to involve fellow musician-types more often than not. View the full article
