  1. Just a few weeks after Rihanna reportedly sued her father for using her brand name to fund his own business (without her permission) her younger brother is now dealing with some court issues of his own. According to Barbados Today, the 29-year-old recently pleaded not guilty to two assault charges. The publication details how the two assaults took place on January 20th when Rorrey Ronald Fenty allegedly assaulted Lee-Ann Lingo while on a boat called the MV Dream Chaser and the next incident took place when he caused "bodily harm" to a man named Andrew Thorton. Rorrey was granted $1,000 bail and must return to court on June 6th. Bennett Raglin/Getty Images In other Rihanna news, her upcoming (and very anticipated) album is said to be finished. “[Rihanna’s team] have, no lie, 500 records for this project [from] different producers and writers,” a dancehall producer, who remained anonymous, stated. “They’re only choosing 10 records. They’ve been having writing camps and trying to keep them quiet for almost a year and a half now. I’ve been flying to Miami, flying to L.A., cutting records nonstop for this project" Another source added: "Every artist, every producer, every songwriter in Jamaica or of Jamaican descent has been working on [Rihanna’s album] and has little snippets of publishing or production credits on it." We're ready when you are, Rihanna. View the full article
  2. Queen Naija recently gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. The singer and her boo, Clarence White, welcomed their first son Legend Lorenzo White into the world with enthusiasm. Naija kept her fans up-to-date throughout her pregnancy and continues to chronicle her journey as a mother. The latest comes in the form of a body transformation post. The proud mama uploaded a photo of her "kangaroo pouch" on Twitter. "5 days after baby," she wrote. "Takes 6 weeks to getnormal body back." Her estimation is most likely based on her experience with her first child. We can expect the entertainer to keep sharing her updates as she works towards her fitness goals. For now, her body is still pushing through the healing process, dealing with "rock hard breasts, swollen belly, c-section cut," on top of her "uterus & organs trying to go back to normal, hormones up and down, body temperature up and down." Since Clarence and Queen Naija are social media personalities who vlog regularly, they decided to share Lorenzo's birth with their following. A video entitled THE BIRTH OF LEGEND LORENZO WHITE shows the hours leading up to the delivery as well as the love fest that ensued. Apparently, the newborn came through with a full set of side burns. 3. When Big Boi rolled through in his car at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, many of us were excited to be getting a break from Maroon 5. Adam Levine's shirtless performance may have been a hit with middle-aged women around the world but for hip-hop heads, we were mostly looking forward to Travis Scott and Big Boi's announced appearances. The OutKast member did not disappoint, entertaining his hometown crowd with some extravagant fashions and antics. Kevin Winter/Getty Images Many have looked back on Big Boi's performance as one of the better parts of last night. The score of the actual football game was low and uneventful while Maroon 5 didn't exactly get us out of our seats. Aside from "Sicko Mode" and Big Boi, there wasn't much for us to go crazy about. PETA was less than impressed with the Atlanta's rapper's get-up, criticizing Big Boi for rocking a gigantic fur coat during the Super Bowl. He performed "The Way You Move" to a crowd that was definitely feeling his twang but PETA fired some shots after the fact on Twitter. "The way you move is horrifying when animals have to DIE for your outfit," wrote the animal rights organization, tagging the artist in their tweet. PETA has long been vocal about their stance on fur, digging into musicians who wear it and urging them to switch to faux fur. Big Boi may not have gotten the memo. He looked fly as hell, though. 5. Royce Da 5'9" has been a mainstay in the game, with many holding his talents in high esteem. Though his solo output has yielded excellent projects like Death Is Certain, Layers, & Book Of Ryan, fans hold a special appreciation for Royce and Em's joint collaborative project, Bad Meets Evil. Over the weekend, Royce Da 5'9" took a moment to sit down with MSNBC's Ari Melber, who proved himself a man of distinguished tastes. After speaking about Royce's emotional "Cocaine" song, his familial upbringing, and more, the conversation shifts to Eminem's role as a mentor. Skip Bolen/WireImage "I learned a lot from him," says Royce. "I learned that you don't have to be drunk and high to create music. I learned that you can do it as long as you want to do it. I learned there's no age limit. Seeing him go out there and rock those hundred thousand people, at his age, at the level he's doing it. He continues to teach me daily. Anytime I go around him I feel I learn something new." When asked whether Em ever deviates from his "gruff" and "dour" persona, Royce answers accordingly. "He's got a lot of sides that I think he doesn't show," says Royce, respectful of his friend's privacy. "He's at the age now where he shows you what he wants you to see. It's important to control the narrative at our age." As Ari Melber tends to cover politics, he makes sure to ask about Em's anti-Trump stance. "It meant everything to me," says Royce. "For an artist of his magnitude to use his platform to speak out against him and take that kind of gamble, that means everything to me as his friend. Let alone a black person in this business." 6. A few days ago, 21 Savage was the special guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. The trap artist performed a version of his hit song "A Lot" by himself, switching up the lyrics in the third verse to speak on a few issues that were weighing heavy on his heart. By now, many of you have heard about the Atlanta (?) artist getting arrested for being a supposed illegal immigrant. He was nabbed by ICE yesterday after they found that the rapper was actually a British citizen, overstaying his visa in the States. The entire situation is very bizarre and this only adds another layer to the mystery. Allen Berezovsky/Getty Images During his appearance on The Tonight Show, 21 Savage spoke on immigration laws and border control, which has been a hot topic as of late. According to XXL, the rapper changed his lyrics to say, "Started from the bottom straight from the gutter, so I had to go a lil' harder/The lights was off, the gas was off, so we had to boil up the water/Been through some things so I can't imagine my kids stuck at the border/Flint still need water/People was innocent, couldn't get lawyers." The rapper's legal team is apparently saying that this is all a huge misunderstanding, promising that the confusion will clear itself up. What do you make of it all? View the full article

  8. John Legend and Adam Levine used their stellar vocal range as a means to make the latest Super Bowl Pamper's advertisement that much better. The commercial, as seen below, sees John changing his son's diaper and calling on some backup. Although his daughter, Luna, tries to lend a hand, he looks to another large group of fathers behind him to sing about their kids' Stinky Booties. Adam comes in at the end, singing with his baby about cleaning up the mess. Chrissy then walks in and asks the abundance of dad's in her home: "Must we do this every time?" The commercial is a follow-up to the first Pampers ad John did where he made up the jingle "Stinky Booty" that Chrissy recently revealed she actually made it up. “We couldn’t think of a more fitting way to celebrate hands-on dads like John than by welcoming another fantastic dad, Adam Levine, into the Pampers family and taking the Stinky Booty Duty song to a whole new level on Super Bowl Sunday," Andre Schulten, vice president and general manager of Baby Care North America, Procter & Gamble, said in a statement. 9. ESPN personality Adnan Virk was reportedly fired from the network on Friday amid an investigation into leaked company information. Virk, who had recently re-upped on a multi-year contract, is accused of leaking confidential company information to the media on multiple occasions, according to multiple reports. During an investigation into the matter, Virk reportedly was not fully cooperative and, according to the New York Post, he was escorted off of ESPN's campus in Bristol, Connecticut on Friday. “Adnan Virk no longer works at ESPN,” ESPN vice president Josh Krulewitz told The Post. Virk, 40, joined ESPN in 2010 and had recently become a lead studio host for the network's college football coverage. 10. Jordan Peele's Get Out follow-up, Us, is set to arrive on March 22nd. Yesterday, fans were treated to a brand new Super Bowl trailer, which, while brief, helped shed some light on the mysterious narrative. Not exactly much, but enough to entice. The film, which stars Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, Shahadi Wright Joseph, and Evan Alex, appears to center around a family tormented by a quartet of grotesque doppelgangers. While certain elements appear to draw from the home invasion genre, cult-like imagery seems to suggest a larger force at work. Check out the trailer for yourself. With stunning cinematography and a budding auteur behind the camera, Us appears to be one of the year's early hits. Not to mention, Peele has already heaped praise upon Lupita's performance, comparing her work to Anthony Hopkins' Oscar-winning turn in The Silence Of The Lambs. "She carried this anticipatory gravity in that scene where you just know,” says Peele. “I feel like her performance is on par with Hannibal Lecter gravitas in this movie.” Keep an eye out for more footage from Us, though don't expect to be spoonfed any plot details. All signs produce to a thrilling mystery, with an added dose of nightmare fuel throughout. Horror fans, are you excited for this one? View the full article

  13. A new petition has been launched in opposition to Nike's AIR MAX 720 sneakers' logo with customers claiming that the design is offensive to Muslims. According to peititoners, the logo looks like it says "Allah" in Arabic writing. In Islam, "Allah" is the Aramaic word that translates to "God," and shoppers allege that the use is disrespectful to the faith by suggesting that God can be stepped on. "It is outrageous and appalling of Nike to allow the name of God on a shoe," Saiqa Noreen, who launched the petition writes. "This is disrespectful and extremely offensive to Muslim’s and insulting to Islam." "After recalling trainers in 1997, which had a similar logo depicting the word Allah, Nike claimed to have tighten scrutiny on logo design. So why has a similar design been approved?" Noreen added. Image via Change.org A Nike spokesperson addressed the petition and consumers' concerns, explaining that the logo was simply an updated version of the AIR MAX trademark for the 720 silhouettes. "Nike respects all religions and we take concerns of this nature seriously,” the spokesperson says. "The AIR MAX logo was designed to be a stylized representation of Nike’s AIR MAX trademark. It is intended to reflect the AIR MAX brand only. Any other perceived meaning or representation is unintentional." Currently, the petition has reached over 30,000 signatures and is moving toward a goal of 35,000 View the full article

  16. In the wave of Super Bowl ad spots gunning for our attention on Sunday, Doritos employed Chance The Rapper and The Backstreet Boys to deliver on a new rendition of the iconic boy band's " I Want It That Way" to introduce the brand's new Flamin' Hot Nacho flavor. This now marks yet another expansion of the Flamin' Hot flavor beyond the traditional scope of Cheetos. Past success includes Flamin' Hot Funyuns and Flamin' Hot Fritos. It's as Chance takes a bite of the new chip in the video that he is transported in front of a backdrop laced in bright neon muscle cars and a large neon aircraft as he raps: "Hotter than a pot roast/Fingers on my hot chips/Red-handed, c'mon man, now I'mma need some chopsticks." Soon enough, Backstreet comes through to reprise their roles, singing their famed track's hook. The new ad comes in time for The Backstreet Boys' DNA album, which made its official debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart on Sunday after moving 234,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. DNA is the ninth studio outing from the group and will be supported with a world tour that kicks off in Lisbon in May. View the full article
  17. Sunday evening, Demi Lovato sparked a new debate on Twitter when the singer tweeted out, "So far 21 savage memes have been my favorite part of the Super Bowl." Her words were in reference to the jokes being made at the Atlanta-bred rapper's expense since he was arrested earlier on Sunday by ICE Agents after discovering that the rapper originally hailed from the United Kingdom and was in the United States on an expired visa. Many have taken to social media to condemn the onslaught of memes and jokes and naturally, Lovato's platform made her a prime example for critics to place their focus. Among those who criticized Lovato for the tweet included Alex Tumay, Wale, and even 21 Savage's manager Kei Henderson. "Damn. We was def Demi Lovato fans," Henderson wrote. "When she was going through her shit, I remember being on the tour bus and Savage said I hope she make it through that shit. People r weird bro." Lovato soon deleted her original post and took to Instagram to defend her actions, saying that she was directly referring to a picture that depicted 21 Savage writing his raps with a feather pen. "Sorry if I offended anyone," she said, before addressing the retaliatory drug abuse jokes that social media users made at her expense. "But it's no excuse to laugh at someone's addiction." Lovato has since deactivated her Twitter account. View the full article
  18. This year, the usually highly-anticipated Super Bowl halftime performance was shrouded in controversy when Travis Scott and Big Boi both made the decision to join Maroon 5 onstage during the broadcast despite calls to boycott the NFL for their alleged treatment of Colin Kaepernick for his decision to kneel during the national anthem during his time with the San Francisco' 49ers. Several performers turned down the gig originally, including Cardi B, Rihanna, and Pink in an effort to stand in solidarity with Kaepernick. Following Sunday's performance, CeeLo Green took to Twitter to congratulate Big Boi on a job well done when the Atlanta legend appeared to perform his "The Way You Move" track alongside Sleepy Brown and Maroon 5. In his attempt to commend his friend and collaborator, though, CeeLo may have ruffled a few feathers when he called out those critical of Big Boi's decision. "Yo big we riding wit you fam DO THAT SHIT! Fuck these so called protesters you just got 100m worth of press. I’ll kill for you," the Atlanta-bred artist penned in a tweet. Naturally, those who were in support of the boycott didn't take too kindly to CeeLo's words, highlighting the fact that the protest is designed to underscore Kaepernick's stand against racial discrimination. "Those protesters are protesting inequities in law enforcement and police brutality and doing it for people of color like us," writes one user. View the full article

  20. Last year, at the height of the controversy surrounding the NFL's alleged conspiracy to shut out Colin Kaepernick from playing professionally, Diddy voiced his interest in owning a team in the league, citing the fact that there are no majority Black owners in the NFL. As Jerry Richardson was called on to step down as the owner of the Carolina Panthers following reports of sexual harassment and racial discrimination, Diddy amped things up, calling on the likes of Steph Curry to join him in acquiring the team. Eventually, he lost out in the first round of bids for the squad and in June decided that he was no longer interested in owning an NFL team as he did not want to be "associated with oppressing black men." Now, as the Super Bowl was staged in Atlanta, Diddy was naturally in attendance in the southern city as the official ambassador of nightlife everywhere, even making it rain on lucky patrons outside of the Magic City strip club. Ahead of Sunday's game, where the Patriots took home the title, TMZ caught up with the mogul and asked if he'd reconsidered his last sentiment and to that he confirmed, "It's time." What's more is that Puffy still has the support of New England Patriots' owner Bob Kraft, who previously revealed that he was a fan of Diddy's. In a new interview with TMZ, Kraft added that he still hopes that Diddy will chase after the goal of being an owner in the league. View the full article
  21. Another year, another ring for Tom Brady. In years past, the monotonous routine of the New England Patriots making their way to the Super Bowl was the scenario that fans loved to hate and hated to love because the very thought almost always ensured an exciting game, but this year the notion fell flat. Despite a victory over the Los Angeles Rams to become Super Bowl Champions to the tune of 13-3, the New England Patriots took up one-half in an underwhelming performance from both teams. Ultimately, Super Bowl LIII makes history as the lowest-scoring Super Bowl of all-time, taking the record previously set by Super Bowl VII in 1973 when the Miami Dolphins defeated the Washington Redskins 14-7, at Los Angeles' Memorial Coliseum. With such a disheartening showing, Eagles fans quickly flocked to social media to remind everyone of how the Philadelphia team knocked the Patriots out with a score of 41-33 at last year's title match, and have unofficially declared the Eagles to be the reigning champions for another year due to what they perceive to be such a lackluster game. 23. Perhaps the most perplexing piece of news that will dominate the coming week is 21 Savage's most recent arrest at the hands of immigration authorities in the United States. It was on Sunday, that the Atlanta-bred rapper was allegedly arrested by ICE agents in an operation that was reportedly targetting rapper Young Nudy, revealing that 21 is actually a national of the United Kingdom with an expired visa. Naturally, the news sparked its fair share of reactions across the spectrum, with some resorting to jokes about 21's status as a mainstay of Atlanta hip-hop to others voicing outrage over the arrest. Some have even cooked up their fair share of theories, inlcuding one that paints Tekashi 6IX9INE as the "snitch" who outed 21 in his recent plea deal. Theo Wargo/Getty Images Nonetheless, members of the Hip-Hop community have addressed the situation on social media, with a healthy wave of "Free 21" messages floating around while others have taken their opinions into more in-depth explorations of the rapper's arrest. Notably, engineer Alex Tumay took to Twitter to condemn users making light of the situation or those question 21 Savage's credibility as a product of East Atlanta. Instead, he urged fans to questions ICE's motives as 21 Savage's arrest took place "less than 24 hours" after ICE allegedly admitted to having no viable way of reconnecting displaced migrant children with their families. "ICE got thousands of kids separated from their parents forever and y’all quiet but y’all wanna make the lowest hanging fruit jokes for this," penned. Others who have used the platform to leave a message, while brief, about 21's arrest include Meek Mill, Lil Durk, Lil Yachty, Lil Duval and a host of others. See the top tweets below. 24. After so much controversy shrouded Travis Scott's decision to appear alongside Maroon 5 and Big Boi during the Super Bowl halftime show, much anticipation was set on seeing just what La Flame would contribute to the iconic stage. Prior to the Super Bowl, a petition was started by fans to get Maroon 5 to incorporate SpongeBob Squarepants' 'Sweet Victory" track in tribute to the show's late creator Stephen Hillenburg and after teasing that possibility, the tribute was actualized more or less when a scene from Spongebob introduced Travis Scott to the main stage before he broke into a performance of "SICKO MODE." The overwhelming response on social media seems to be one of disappointment, though, with fans hilariously complaining about Travis Scott taking the place of an actual performance of "Sweet Victootherswhile other argue that the mere performance of "SICKO MODE" wasn't enough. Nevertheless, it was certainly a momentous occasion for Scott who accepted the opportunity after catching criticism for his decision to appear in light of the NFL's treatment of Colin Kaepernick. Along with Trav, Maroon 5 also got a little help from Big Boi to add a taste of Atlanta to the festivities as the Southern legend came out to his quintessential "Kryptonite" track, uttering the lines, "If you want me, you can find me in the 'A'" before moving into his Sleepy Brown-assisted "The Way You Move." He'd exit the stage just after leading the crowd into a classic "ATL Hoe" chant. Check out Twitter's top reactions to the Super Bowl Halftime performance below. View the full article
  25. Naturally, the stage set by the Super Bowl on Sunday was the prime opportunity for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to tease the arrival of their forthcoming Avengers: Endgame film. The Russo Brothers teased the arrival ahead of the new trailer's showing, taking to Twitter to instruct fans to 'Turn On your TVs." The teaser is a 30-second spot that follows up on the events that ended Avengers: Infinity War, picking up with a world where half the population has been wiped out thanks to Thanos, leaving few Avengers to pick up the pieces on Earth. In the clip, you can catch a glimpse of Tony Stark in space with Nebula along with an unbearded Captain America. The host of Avengers remaining include War Machine, Ant-Man, Thor, Rocket of the Guardians, and Black Widow. Before Endgame arrives, though, fans will be gifted to the premiere of the Brie Larson-led Captain Marvel film. The movie, which is set to arrive at the top of March, was also paired with a teaser during the Super Bowl. The film is actually set in the 90s and will likely have some tie to the forthcoming Endgame flick, but only time will tell as fanspatientlyy await. View the full article
