  1. NLE Choppa has been very open about his love of the great Tupac Shakur. In his young career, the 18-year-old rapper has sampled 2Pac, also citing him as an inspiration for the "Make Em Say" music video. The rising rapper from Memphis was born a few years after Tupac's death, but that doesn't mean that he didn't travel back into his discography to learn from the legend, soaking up wisdom like a sponge. While some have interpreted his latest tribute to Shakur as disrespect, others are viewing it the other way around, which is likely how it was intended. On Monday, NLE Choppa continued his re-branding effort by sharing a number of Tupac-inspired pictures on Instagram, wearing the same outfit as the late legend. "Death Is Not The Greatest Loss In Life. The Greatest Loss Is What Dies Inside While Alive. Never Surrender," wrote NLE Choppa, quoting Tupac as his caption. "Hoping Love Approaches Now And Not When When The Person Dies." The pictures were posted with the inspired shots following in a gallery, showing the teenage rapper wearing Karl Kani-designed "Thug Life" overalls, Pac's purple hoodie, a black-and-white striped beanie, and a chain hanging out of his top. A lot of attention to detail went into these pictures, so this is likely meant out of respect from the 18-year-old. Did NLE Choppa miss anything in these shots? View the full article
  2. If we're talking about the biggest rap feuds of all time, you gotta give Jay-Z and Nas their flowers. The two went at it in one of the most disrespectful feuds in rap history that thankfully ended in better terms than it started. They're good now but things got tense with the exchange of several diss tracks including "Takeover" and "Ether." Frazer Harrison/Getty Images Looking back, it seems that Nas can appreciate what came of it. After all, rap is considered a competitive sport, despite how vicious things could get. During a recent interview on Rick Rubin's Broken Record podcast, Nas explained that it was a sobering moment for him realizing that these feuds could really come to life. The OGs before him did it, as well, like a rite of passage, but the stakes were high for Jay-Z and Nas at the time. "I was honored to have that part of my life happen because that's how I saw some of the greats do it coming up. I saw some of the greats do it," the King's Disease rapper explained. Rubin pointed out that the outcome of Jay-Z and Nas' feud was mutually beneficial, largely because they both proved their greatness at that point. "Again, it's about the art of MCing and when you're trying to make the best stuff you can make and you bump heads with another MC, and then you guys have a war or whatever, that's what this art form was since the beginning," Nas added, listing off Double Trouble and Busy Bee as examples of the forefathers engaging in rap beefs. "That's what I like about hip-hop compared to other genres is that, they go at it in hip-hop," he continued. "Hip-hop will always be around because of how competitive it is. Check the clip out below. 3. Pennsylvania-raised rapper Lil Skies is about to strike with his sophomore studio album, titled Unbothered. For years, the 22-year-old artist has been bubbling under the radar, enjoying chart success with a number of his songs. However, he has not been able to maintain a steady stream of mainstream attention, being described as a rising star for years. Despite all of the hate that he interacts with, as well as the critics talking him down, Lil Skies is unbothered. Enough so that he's named his sophomore studio album Unbothered, revealing the tracklist to his fanbase on Tuesday afternoon. The album will officially release at the end of this week, featuring songs with Wiz Khalifa and Lil Durk. Previously-released singles "Ok" and "Havin' My Way" will be included on the album, which has fourteen total tracks. Recently, Lil Skies lashed out at fans who did not respect his artistic growth. At the end of the year, the young artist said, "Y’all gotta stop wishing i was the same person & made the same music. when i came in this game, im a human being, im growing and changing too, i can’t be that same person i was three years ago. my life on a whole other type of time now, this be my last time addressing this." 4. Since King Von was murdered in November, the world has heard quite a bit from his half-sister, Kayla B. She''s come to his defense against naysayers, called out Asian Doll over her claims of being in a relationship with the rapper before he died, and most recently, she got into a streetfight with Cuban Doll. Controversy seems to follow her, and on Monday (January 18), Kayla B reappeared on her Instagram Live to deny that she had an incestuous relationship with her late sibling after old tweets resurfaced. Social media users began to complain that Kayla seemed too invested in Von's personal life and after years-old tweets of her showing love to her Von circulated, she hopped on Live to shut down the rumors. "Get y'all sick nasty asses on. Do I look like I'm from Down South?" Kayla asked. "Me and my brother we from Chicago. We're not from Down South where people f*ck they brothers and sisters. All y'all that sayin' that, I hope y'all grandma die 'cause that's some nasty sh*t." Some people suggested that they dated before knowing they were related, but Kayla said that isn't true. She said she always knew Von was her brother but after her dad passed away, they were separated. Swipe below to check out her videos and the controversial tweets. View the full article
  5. Last month, rumors began to fill social media about Blueface and Coi Leray. The two rappers were spotted grabbing a bite to eat in Los Angeles, and after photographs of the pair went viral, there was speculation regarding the nature of their relationship. Last week, they added fuel to the fire after Leray posted videos to her Instagram Story where she and Blueface cuddled close and shared kisses on the cheek. However, the mother of Blueface's child, Jaidyn Alexis, posted a few videos of her own where she and the rapper were traveling together. "It's a baeeee cation we barely made this mf," she wrote over an image that seemed to be the two boarding a flight. Then, she gave her followers a look at the view from her beachside Miami Beach hotel where the pair kicked back before visiting a strip club. It's assumed that is where they ended up because Jaidyn posted a moment with Blueface as he held a large stack of bills up to his ear in a room lit with pink and blue lights. Regardless of the public arguments these two may engage in, they always seem to make their way back to one another. They share a son, Javaugh Porter, who was born in 2017. 6. He recently spoke about releasing his final album, a project that Snoop Dogg will apparently be narrating, but there may be another Bow Wow project on the horizon. The rapper is known for his "playboy" ways—his words, not ours—and he recently suggested that he was toying with the idea of making a record where each track is dedicated to a woman that he'd dated. Bow Wow discussed the scenario with his mother who seemed apprehensive about the idea. Frazer Harrison / Staff / Getty Images "I know how all my fans love the relationship, girl records," he said. "So I said, Imma do a whole album like that, but Imma call it Letter to My Exes. Each song is about a girl who I shared a piece of my life with. There's gonna be a little bit of backlash from it. You just gotta wait and see. I know they're gonna be nervous. The women will be nervous because it's Bow so what is he gonna say." The rapper's mother told him that he needs to be careful and questioned if he would be name-dropping the women. Bow Wow said he would. "The songs are gonna be them," he admitted. "But, everything is facts. There's no dancing around." Then, his mother named "Ang," which is assumed to be Angela Simmons, and she also added that she knew there would be a track about Keyshia Cole. John Ricard / Stringer / Getty Images "I want you to be surprised," said Bow Wow. "When they see the tracklist and they see these names, the internet is gonna go crazy." After telling his mom that there will about nine songs on the project, she said she wasn't aware that he was in these relationships because she was under the impression that he just liked dating strippers. "Well, yeah. There's a girl in there that used to strip," said Bow. "I'm talking about a girl who went from dancing to she hit the lotto. Blac Chyna." 7. It's difficult to navigate any social media platform these days without seeing someone giving their take on the "Buss It Challenge." The Erica Banks track was first released back in June 2020, but after going viral on TikTok, the app's users gave the single new life and Banks a global audience who had yet to hear her music. "Buss It" samples Nelly's 2002 meg-hit "Hot in Herre," and according to the St. Louis icon, he's enjoying hearing his No. 1 single make waves for Banks. "Yeah, it's dope," Nelly told the Zach Sang Show. "Keep doin' it. Obviously, I had to clear the record. But yo, keep doing it, definitely. I see the numbers adding up for me. It's awesome!" As Nelly watches his coins stack, Erica Banks shared her thoughts on the challenge with NYLON last week. “It was a surreal moment watching it grow from platform to platform. I’m excited to see women having fun with it and now the guys are joining too,” said the 1501 Certified Entertainment/Warner Records artist. “Watching the women transform is the best part of the challenge and yes that’s something I relate to. Today I may give you sneakerhead and tonight you’ll see me all glammed up.” Check out Nelly's full interview with the Zach Sang Show below and make sure to check out our article on the Dallas artist: "Who Is Erica Banks? 8. For decades, stories about the strange goings-on at elite Hollywood parties have been shared like folklore. There have been rumors of satanic worship, massive orgies, the selling of souls, and cult meetings behind the scenes, and in a recent interview with Doggie Diamond's No Filter Podcast, Wu-Tang Clan's Inspectah Deck told a story of an experience that left him, and fellow groupmate Ghostface Killah, a tad shook. Steven Ferdman / Stringer / Getty Images "We went to a house party in Hollywood, it was half of us, we went to the after-party, saw a lot of famous faces," the rapper said. "We like, the uninvited guests. We the hood walkin' through the mansion and it just was crazy. I remember me and [Ghostface Killah], Ghost will tell you this, too. We opened up a couple of doors just trying to see what was going on and Imma tell y'all, too. Y'all make it to Hollywood, get invited to these parties and all that, don't be curious, bro. Don't be opening doors." "We opened the doors and we saw a whole lotta, you know," Deck enigmatically said. Whatever went on, he added that they were people he was "familiar with." He added that it was "a whole lotta inappropriate activities... Nothing against gay people. It's a lotta gay sh*t going on. Me personally, I love women. What's that, Homosapien? I'm pro-women." He was corrected and stated he was "heterosexual." The rapper suggested that this party was taking place in "broad daylight" and guests included some of the world's favorite rappers and actors. Inspectah Deck added that later on at the party, the people that they saw came up to them as if they were good friends. "They want to know what you saw and how you feel about it," he said. "I think in that case, that lets them know if you can come back to the house." "I know I ain't never been invited back." Of course, he refused to name any names, but you can watch him explain his experience below and share your guesses in the comments. View the full article
  9. The vote to impeach President Donald Trump in his final days in office was a bipartisan one, and Wyoming wasn't happy. When the third-ranked Republican in the House of Representatives, Wyoming's Liz Cheney, voted for impeachment, many members of the GOP came down on the politician. On Monday (January 18), the chairman of the Wyoming Republican Party seemed to have addressed the controversy when he said that his state is "paying attention" to Texas and the Union's largest state's "consideration of possible secession." Chairman Frank Eathorne appeared on former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon's podcast War Room where he made the controversial statements. “We need to focus on the fundamentals,” said Eathorne. "We need to focus on the fundamentals that’s been stated in this broadcast, and that is what Wyoming is." "We are straight-talking, focused on the global scene, but we’re also focused at home," he added. "Many of these Western states have the ability to be self-reliant, and we’re keeping eyes on Texas too and their consideration of possible secession. Now, they have a different state constitution than we do as far as wording, but it is something that we’re all paying attention to.” Tasos Katopodis / Stringer / Getty Images When the Casper Star-Tribune in Wyoming reached out to Eathorne for clarification on his comments, the GOP chairman stated that there were no serious talks of secession, but he did text them that "only a brief conversation with the Texas GOP in earlier work with them. Won’t come up again unless the grass roots brings it up.” Unsurprisingly, Eathorne was heavily criticized for even entertaining the possibility of dividing the nation. The Confederacy in the United States was formed in 1861 immediately following Abraham Lincoln's presidential win. Seven states would initially secede from the Union and later, four more would follow. Many pro-Trump supporters have been teasing a second Civil War and as the presidential inauguration approaches, Washington D.C. has shut down. [via][via] View the full article
  10. Congratulations are in order for model Kiyomi Leslie as it's reported that she's expecting her first child. The social media influencer is widely known for her relationship with Bow Wow—a romance that unraveled in the headlines and reality television. The former couple began dating back in 2018 and there were rumors of a miscarriage before explosive reports of their violent altercation made waves. Both parties were arrested in connection to the incident and it was the final straw before they called it quits for good. Nicholas Hunt / Staff / Getty Images Last year, Kiyomi surfaced on Love & Hip Hop Atlanta where she was reportedly in an open relationship with cast member Shooter, but over the weekend it was shared that she's starting a family with Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Justin Hardy. Photos of their baby shower were posted to The Shade Room and over on Kiyomi's page, she gave her followers a glimpse into a pregnancy photoshoot. The model received an immense amount of support and congratulatory messages and in the caption to her post, Kiyomi wrote, "Blessed and enjoying living in the moment." Meanwhile, Hardy shared a few shots of the baby shower over on his Instagram Story and thanked his friends for their kind words about his bundle of joy. Check out a few photos below. 11. The pressure is being felt by Chris Stokes after Raz B challenged his former B2K manager. For years, Raz has made controversial remarks about Stokes and what he allegedly endured as a child star. According to the B2K singer, Stokes allegedly sexually assaulted him, and while Raz has been making these claims for some time, his controversial moments have placed a shadow over his accusations. Recently, Raz sat down with Hollywood Unlocked's Jason Lee for the blogger's Fox Soul series. During their talk, Lee claimed that Raz B was open and honest about his experiences, but prior to it airing, Fox Soul received a cease and desist letter, causing them to shut down the interview's release. Raz later came forward to blast Stoke and even offered a challenge, saying that they both should sit down for polygraph tests. Meanwhile, Omarion's brother O'Ryan was on his Instagram page sharing a few family photos of himself and his daughter, Namiko, that he shares with Jhené Aiko. Chris Stokes appeared in the comments with a few emojis showing support, but O'Ryan only had one response for Stokes: "TAKE THE POLYGRAPHS [eyeball emojis]." Soon, people began to flood O'Ryan's comments as they, too, urged Stokes to answer Raz B's challenge. Stokes has reportedly made claims that it was Raz's brother who abused the singer, not him. 12. They were enjoying their family-filled life with their daughter Frankie Fine who wasn't even a year old when Cassie and her husband Alex Fine were surprised to learn that they were expecting another child. Just prior to sharing their big news, the singer had debuted her post-pregnancy body that took her months to get back into shape. The happy couple is excited about their new addition, but Cassie recently shared that she's going to need more time in between pregnancies before she even thinks about having a third child. "I had a four or five-month window between the two pregnancies where I remember drinking wine and then back to being pregnant," Cassie told PEOPLE. "Before COVID, I was casually talking to my doctor about birth control, but once the stay-at-home order went into effect, I was lax about going to the doctor because I didn't want to go out of the house unless necessary. Of course, I had no idea how fertile you are after having a baby, so I delayed. And, here we are, seven months later!" Regardless, Cassie and Alex are looking forward to welcoming their second child in March. "I love that Frankie's going to have a sibling super close in age. Plus, we're home so much now anyway, and my entire house is all 'baby,' so in that sense, the timing is ideal," she added. "But after this, I need my body back for a minute before even considering another." Check out a few snaps of Cassie and her family below. [via] View the full article
  13. Authorities seized Pablo Escobar's personal zoo in 1993 after his death. Most of the animals were able to find homes, but four hippos escaped. According to PageSix, the "cocaine hippos," which were brought into Colombia illegally, have now started breeding at rapid rates, prompting scientists to warn that death might be the only way to eradicate what's being described as the "largest invasive species on the planet." Warren Little/Getty Images Ecologist Nataly Castelblanco-Martínez told the Telegraph that they could grow to reach dangerous numbers but action needs to happen immediately. "Nobody likes the idea of shooting a hippo, but we have to accept that no other strategy is going to work," Castelblanco-Martínez said. 80 to 100 descendants of the hippos have reportedly terrorized lakes and rivers. Scientists said they pose a threat to the natural ecology of wildlife in their surroundings since the urine and feces of Escobar's former pets are toxic. The hippos waste could cause illness among both animals and humans. The animals could potentially grow to a population of 1,50 in 2024. Officials warn that their community can reach "dangerous numbers" in the next twenty years. Colombian environmentalist David Echeverri Lopez said that they're racing to castrate the animals, even though he admits they are "part of the local identity." Castelblanco-Martínez said that it might be too late to even move forward with castration. "Relocation might have been possible 30 years ago, when there were only four hippos,” Castelblanco-Martínez said. "Castration could also have been effective if officials had provided sufficient resources for the program early on, but a cull is now the only option.” Prayers up for wildlife. 14. There was a bit of confusion on Instagram over the weekend after Supa Cent shared a post that caught Yung Joc's attention. Recently, the cosmetics mogul has been flaunting her romance with Sage The Gemini all over social media as the happy couple can't seem to get enough of one another. Supa shared a selfie and wrote in the caption, "Make me turn my gansta down [red rose]," and in the caption, Joc wrote, "That's easy [eyes emoji]." Paras Griffin / Stringer / Getty Images The remark didn't go unnoticed by Sage who responded to Joc by saying, "Naw it's not big dawg gone head." Soon, people began to question whether or not Joc, who is engaged to attorney Kendra Robinson, was flirting with Supa Cent in front of the world. After receiving criticisms, Joc returned to explain that he didn't mean to come across as flirtatious and wasn't aware that Supa and Sage were even together. "That's no disrespect to you Sage, no disrespect to you—I ain't know that sh*t," the rapper-radio host said. "Anyway, long story short, it was not me shooting my shot. I'm very respectful to people and to my relationship. Y'all took that wrong. That's a good stretch though... No disrespect to that." Swipe through below to listen to Joc's explanation in full. 15. We're just days away from President Elect-Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris officially entering into the White House, and the transition of power has been contentious. It's being reported that President Donald Trump will not be attending Biden's inauguration on January 20 after a months-long battle against America's presidential election results. On Monday (January 18), reports surfaced that Melania Trump would break tradition and wouldn't be giving Dr. Jill Biden a tour of the White House as other First Wives have done in the past. Melania will be the first modern First Lady to make such a controversial move. Mark Wilson / Staff / Getty Images According to CNN, neither Donald nor Melania will meet with the incoming First Family to help with the transition, and instead, Melania has penned a letter about the renovations and restorations she oversaw while her husband held office. The Trump's have faced criticism since before the president even took office, but this move found them on the receiving end of accusations that their exit is "classless." The word soon became a trending topic on Twitter as global citizens came down on America's leader. Meanwhile, The Washington Post reports that following Trump's ban from Twitter, along with a few of his allies, there was a 73 percent drop in misinformation being shared on the microblogging site. 17. American filmmaker Zack Snyder has been behind the new adaptation of DC’s Justice League since its inception, but has recently confirmed that the release will actually come as a film rather than in a mini-series format. The film, which has been dubbed “The Snyder Cut” will have an insane four-hour runtime according to Snyder, who confirmed this on Twitter on Sunday. At DC FanDome in August, Snyder broke down the structure of his production, which he said would be comprised of four parts that each lasted an hour. While he didn’t specifically say it would come out as a miniseries, fans assumed this meant the film would have a staggered release with the four parts coming at different times. Apparently, this is no longer the case, and the film’s release still does not have a definitive date. However, in December, Snyder did confirm that the film would premiere on HBO Max sometime in March. The streaming platform currently houses much of DC’s film catalog, and HBO Max is set to release some of DC’s larger upcoming movies for streaming through 2022. It is expected that Justice League will do the same, simultaneously premiering on streaming and in theaters in March. Since the film doesn’t seem to have any further roadblocks, we should expect a confirmed release date soon. [Via] View the full article

  19. We keep wondering just how much bigger Verzuz can get. For an eventful that's hosted online, it's attracted millions of individuals during the pandemic. Rappers, singers, producers, and more have gathered together to celebrate their catalogs while fans attempt to figure out a winner. They've hosted some massive match-ups that some wouldn't have even expected to ever go down. Jeezy and Gucci Mane, for example. E-40 & Too Short. The R&B fans currently are revving up for Ashanti and Keyshia Cole to go up next. However, it seems that there's one match-up that nobody asked for that is being proposed -- Travis Scott & Future. Apparently, Timbaland's manager recently stated that the possibility of the two rappers facing off in the Verzuz arena. According to online rumors, it's something that's currently in the works and could happen in the near future. But when people thought about it a little further, no one really thought it was fair to Travis Scott. While he might be the biggest rapper on the planet right now, it's really hard to argue against Future's catalog. He has projects, both mixtapes and albums, that remain some of the most influential bodies of work of the past decade. Scott was, once again, was the butt-end of the joke. Others simply suggested that the Super Slimey duo of Future and Young Thug would be a better line-up. Check out some of the reactions below. View the full article

Since then, he's hit the road and held up his album obligations but he's been relatively low-key throughout the pandemic. We previously reported on the woman who claimed that Megan Thee Stallion stole her design for the rapper's Fashion Nova collection, and now Teyana Taylor is facing similar accusations. The user tweeted to Teyana Taylor: "How are you the creative director of PLT and you stealing from other black people?" Taylor took note of the inquiry and clapped back at the social media user. "First off how are u going to ASSUME I have anything to do with this?" asked the singer. "My position barley started! I JUST announced my new title only a month ago, I have not even officially started my CD role as of yet. So check ya self & most IMPORTANTLY ya tone before u come at me loud & wrong."
