  1. Great album. I've been a fan since I was a kid owning the Crimes of Passion album. I recently acquired a couple old cassettes which was cool. I wouldn't mind getting the Crimes of Passion album again.
  2. Let us know how it goes, Matt. Nice to see you again.
  3. LOS ANGELES – "King of the Hill" is over the hill at Fox, which is canceling the long-running animated comedy. Final episodes of the half-hour series, now in its 13th year, likely will air during the 2009-10 season, Fox said Friday. The network recently ordered 13 new episodes, and animated series have a long production schedule. "King of the Hill" chronicles the life of blue-collar family man Hank Hill of Texas and his family and friends. Hank is voiced by series co-creator and executive producer Mike Judge. Others in the cast include Kathy Najimy, Brittany Murphy and Stephen Root. Read entire story here.
  4. SAN FRANCISCO – Merl Saunders, a jazz and rock keyboardist who collaborated with iconic acts including Miles Davis and the Grateful Dead, has died. He was 74. Saunders died Friday at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in San Francisco of complications due to a stroke, said his son, Merl Saunders Jr. "We loved him very much — and we know that you, his fans, did too," his family said in a statement posted on Saunders' Web site. "He was a special man, a beautiful companion, father, grandfather, and family patriarch, and the proof of that spirit is in the way you've reached out to us at his passing." Read entire story here.
  5. I hear them now and again on Launchcast at work and I've enjoyed it. Pretty good sound.
  6. Dad and his wife coming up for post B-day visit tomorrow. Dinner and a movie (I think I will chose Body of Lies....Saw V would be too cruel..especially after big dinner). Gaming with tMoD on Sunday. Maybe finish assembling new TV. Need to clean now for da folks.
  7. I actually had the Mayhem CD he participated in. Never did any research into the character though. I do recall it being a very dark, black album...not very coherent. I no longer have it for reasons I am not certain of. All I can guess is that it basically sucked and I questioned myself as to why I was keeping it. I think i pawned it, actually. It just had no musical value for me. Which brings me to why I even had it in the fisrt place. De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas indeed.
  8. Thanks guys. Glad to have you around. Now if only Denise was around...
  9. LOS ANGELES - William Claxton, a celebrated photographer who worked with such entertainers as Bob Dylan and Frank Sinatra and who helped establish the organization that runs the Grammy Awards, has died. He was 80. Claxton died Saturday at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles of complications stemming from congestive heart failure, his son Christopher said. He was best known for his soulful portraits of jazz artists such as Chet Baker, and he went on to photograph Dylan and other musicians such as Joni Mitchell and Tom Jones. His images graced the covers of numerous albums. Read entire story here.
  10. If you ever start a literary project, let me be your editor.
  11. My dad had this album and I think it was the one that introduced me to the band. Always liked "Green River."
  12. Even the suitcase is impressed!
  13. Just his 1978 solo album. From the little I've heard, I didn't care too much for his "Live to Win," and I've been a fan since '78 (wow..30 years now!). Sure he's a great singer, but I think he does best under the Kiss moniker.
  14. LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Leading R&B drummer Earl Palmer, best known for his New Orleans recording sessions with the likes of Fats Domino and Little Richard, died on Friday at his home in Los Angeles at age 84, his family said. Palmer, who died after a lengthy illness, played on hundreds of hits during a career that ran from the 1940s through the 1970s and earned him an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His drumming on such hits as Fats Domino's "The Fat Man," Richard's "Tutti Frutti and Smiley Lewis's "I Hear You Knockin"' featured the strong back beat that was his signature and helped transform the lope of rhythm and blues into the full-tilt thrust of rock 'n' roll. 15. Not sure if I had posted previously about 'em. Went to the 1st Annual Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival on July 15th and they were there. I was sold on the band after their short performance. The debut album is awesome. Very accomplished musicians. The singer Ivan was previously from Motograter and the guitarist Darrell did a stint with W.A.S.P. Tight kick drums on this video and the album. The vocalist's harmonies meld well with his coarser verses. I grabbed the non-bonus version of the album by mistake which didn't include the above song, but they offer it as a free download to those to get the original version. Possibly one of the best metal acts of 2008.
  16. Aww man... I thought someone had it out for our Spam King.
  17. Maybe you've changed in the past 17 years, wizard. Give us something tangible to back up your opinion of the album. Thus far I want to take a whiffle bat to all their eyeballs.
  18. Wow. I watched the video...and I liked it.
  19. LOS ANGELES - Don LaFontaine, the man who popularized the catch phrase "In a world where..." and lent his voice to thousands of movie trailers, has died. He was 68. LaFontaine died Monday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center from complications in the treatment of an ongoing illness, said Vanessa Gilbert, his agent. LaFontaine made more than 5,000 trailers in his 33-year career while working for the top studios and television networks. In a rare on-screen appearance in 2006, he parodied himself on a series of national television commercials for a car insurance company where he played himself telling a customer, "In a world where both of our cars were totally under water..." 20. NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Jerry Reed, a singer who became a good ol' boy actor in car chase movies like "Smokey and the Bandit," has died of complications from emphysema at 71. His longtime booking agent, Carrie Moore-Reed, no relation to the star, said Reed died early Monday. "He's one of the greatest entertainers in the world. That's the way I feel about him," Moore-Reed said. Read entire story here.
