  2. You know, the last time I got chicken nuggets at McDonalds they were a bit rubbery.
  3. Once they shut off the pot coming in from Columbia and Mexico, Americans turned into the best damned pot growers in the world... Thank you, war on drugs!
  4. So how many squares do you guys all use? Maybe we should have a poll.
  5. Now's his chance to shoot her up, after snorting his dad.
  6. I hope that lightbulb talks through the whole album.
  7. I know! Four billion years went by just like that
  8. Happy :bouncy: :bouncy: birthday!! Eat CAKE! Get LAID!!
  9. Slayer - Postmortem Funeral held for the depression of man Holds the key to his own death Entering a tomb of a corpse yet conceived Tighten the tourniquet around your neck Sifting away the debris of hated life Cold touch of death begins to chill your spine Seeking life beyond your perishment Repeating words echoing through your mind Chanting lines of blind witchery To save yourself from extinction Wanting to die is your reason to live New life born from the oppressed Taste your blood as it trickles through the air Another casualty beyond the shadows you fall Losing ground, the fate you feel it draws near Fatality, reality, you await the final call! My sinful glare at nothing holds thoughts of death behind it Skeletons in my mind commence tearing at my sanity Vessels in my brain carry death until my birth Come and die with me forever, share insanity Do you want to die! The waves of blood are rushing near, pounding at the walls of lies Turning off my sanity, reaching back into my mind Non-rising body from the grave showing new reality What I am, what I want, I'm only after death!
  10. on the grenade batting, got 596 three different times, and the same lesser scores kept coming up over and over too. Wonder if horseshoes is as consistent
  11. Quite similar to this timewaster, eh?
  12. And I'd hit their show in an LA minute if they came to ny
  13. But screw Vista. I don't need those tentacles wrapping themselves into my shit.
  14. Can't--need to transfer all my windows-based music projects over to it--that was the whole point of the now obsolete CTC Command Tower. It was a dedicated music studio, as will be this new one.
  15. We are in the process of building a new dual-core PC to replace my now obsolete CTC Command Tower (for which, in a fit of unimaginativeness several years back, I decided create my ZP user name after said computer). I absolutely refuse to upgrade to Vista and we're putting XP SP II in it, for now at least, until more stuff comes out where it seem like a good idea to make the switch. If it works, why fix it?
  16. Investing in American unemployment--it's been the Republican way since before 1929.
  17. Because each of us is in his or her own prison. In all of our nations. In all of our societies, our sub-cultures, our small dark rooms at 3 am, we are in prison. Our freest moments are akin to being chained to the wall of a cave, watching shadows flit past and understanding nil. A prison! A prison of language. A prison of culture. A prison of our fear of the dark, of the unknown, of death. The prison of existentialism, of existence itself! That's what the Dude's re-education center is all about, baby.
  18. Bags and Diz, probably from Montreux in 1977. The wide lapels scream late 70's, and "Once In A While" is on the DVD Dizzy Gillespie - Sextet '77 - Norman Granz Jazz In Montreux, so that's my guess. Milt Jackson totally rips a hole in the jazz-space continuum in the second half.
  19. It's caused by a foot pedal called a "phaser" or "phase shifter." Jimi Hendrix pioneered the use of this effect with a device called the Univox Uni-Vibe. I don't know what particular type J Mascis uses, though I am curious to find out, if anyone happens to know. I do have one, as you have rightly guessed, an Electro-Harmonix Small Stone Phaser. Quite the psychedelic little unit!
  20. Footage of Dinosaur Jr playing the song "Freak Scene" on the 1991 European tour with Sonic Youth and Nirvana. The song is the first track on Dino Jr's 1988 Bug. The crowd here is as much a part of the performance as the band is. And here's the video that accompanied the original recording from Bug. Arguably "indie rock's greatest guitar performance and the band's greatest pop song" according to Pitchfork, J Mascis aptly demonstrates here why he is revered as an alterna-rock guitar god and one of the most influential rock musicians of the '90s. Seen enough to eye you But I've seen to much to try you It's always weirdness while you Dig it much too much to fry you The weirdness flows between us Anyone can tell to see us Freak scene just can't believe us Why can't it just be cool and free us? Seen enough to eye you But I've seen to much to try you It's always weirdness while you Dig it much too much to fry you The weirdness flows between us Anyone can tell to see us Freak scene just cant believe us Why can't it just be cool and leave us? It's so fucked I can't believe it If there's a way I wish we'd see it How could it work just cant conceive it Oh what a mess its just to leave it Sometimes I don't thrill you Sometimes I think I'll kill you Just dont let me fuck up will you? cause when I need a friend its still you What a mess...
  21. From the Stereogum Archives: New Dinosaur Jr Video - "Been There All The Time" Thurston Moore and his daughter Coco are the guests of honor in Dino Jr's Matt Dillon-directed clip for "Been There All The Time." Despite the abundance of names dropped in that lead, it's a relatively straight-forward living room-jam clip, for a great song, from a phenomenal album. Watch it here
