Mine is self explanatory. I took my two most dominant traits and made a name out of them.

Given the state of the economy in most parts of the world, I can understand being cheap. But I've known you for a while now, and I would hardly think that "prick" applies!!

I used to be CoolDude, but oee of my Instant Messenger systems got hacked, so I inverted the name. Plus CoolDude is fairly generic, so i had to keep adding numbers to it...

So several in your family have the CoolDude strain then? Kinda like lycanthopia? Or maybe you meant generic......

You would make me cross those r's instead of t's. lol.

  • 3 weeks later...

Mine originates from the Lord of the Dance. No, I do not like the show, quite the opposite, hence the parody. As I join forums and find these "Why'd you call yourself that?" threads, I get more insight about my choice.

This is from a PM I sent:

I believe in all honesty I chose an appropriate name for myself the longer I keep it. I find it accurate for me as it is humbing that I truly do not know everything that I speak of. It also shows my sarcastic side due to the play on words. Finally, it kinda does represent a self-proclaimed lordship over the knowledge or personality I display. It's growing on me, but I will never get to the point of letting it make me arrogant.

Man, today just feels like "Let It All Out Day." I can only wonder what the next page of threads has in store for me.

hmmm. In my youth ...I used this name in conjuction with other names.... to fool and torment waitresses ,reservation and paging systems.

In the 80s ...the movie Porkys popularized it for the same purpose.

I used to love hearing the waitresss call out MikeHunt party of 4...of course... Mike never showed up and I was next in line.

Mike Rack

Dinah Kanser

were some of the other names we used. B)

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
