bspringsteen.jpgUpset with Bruce Springsteen's effort to oust President Bush from the White House, the New York Conservative Party's candidate for the U.S. Senate is launching a "Boycott the Boss" television commercial.

"He thinks making millions with a song-and-dance routine allows him to tell you how to vote," Marilyn O'Grady says in the 30-second spot. "Here's my vote: Boycott the Boss. If you don't buy his politics, don't buy his music."

this is hilarious! although i always thought his music too tame (even w/Patti), i've always had a huge respect for his principles and politics, especially after reading the recent NYT editorial he wrote.

Kooperman:

Maybe Bruce will start a boycott of neocon McCarthy zombies who want to dumb down the entire population for mind-control purposes....
great idea, no matter who starts it.

So first the Senator says that his "song and dance" shouldn't influence anyone's vote.

Well, then why should his song and dance be a launching pad for delibrate boycotting of his music (which shouldn't have any bearing with politics, right?).

Sounds like someone doesn't like the first amendment.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
