I only really paid attention to maybe three bands. Coheed and Cambria, the Vandals, and Avenged Sevenfold. Oh... and some Atmosphere.

I know nothing about these bands. Can you fill us in and tell us which you liked best and why?

I'm not into punk much at all, ever since bands like New Found Glory popped up and became trendy.

Hmm... Coheed hails from NY, I believe, lead singer has a very distinct voice. Okay, so Coheed is the only band there I know much of anything about. I think they're a bit nerdy because they have this comic book thing going on. My friend picked it up after they played, and had the lead guy, Claudio, sign it for him. I think my friend almost creamed himself. I'm really bad at describing music.

The Vandals were fun, really fun. The lead guy was leaping around trying to get everyone all excited (they played at like, 12:30, really freakin' early). Perhaps someone that knows something about punk should describe them. I know NOTHING.

Avenged Sevenfold was probably among the "darker" of the bands that played. I only stood there for maybe three songs... the screaming really gets to me after a while. The lead singer had too much foundation smeared all over his face... he was still hot. But yea, definitely a screaming type band, trying too hard to be "dark and cool" or whatever the hell the trendy shit is. I'm way too cynical to write a decent overview of anything.

Atmosphere is cool, local rap. :)

Oh... I liked Coheed the best. I bought a shirt and stole some buttons from some booth.... well I think I stole them, not sure. I stuck a dollar in the tip jar and took a bag and some buttons.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
