HELP!!

Ok, so i work in a SU, (Students Union), in Glasgow and as well as DJing there i also host quizzes, announce comedians and bands onto the stage and general stuff like that.

Our Freshers fortnight is coming up soon and we have lots of events happenning, of which i am going to be running most of them, this includes a 30 min quiz, ( A 30 min quiz comprises of as many questions as possible in 30mins, with all catagories included in it), every single day for the whole two weeks, thats 14 quizzes.

But on top of that i have two full length quizzes, ( A Full length quiz comprises of six rounds, 20 questions each round, in six different catagories), thats 240 questions!!

Now you can probably tell that i need some help with writing the quizzes, i have already got quite a few questions of the internet, using various sites and links off the sites, but still dont have anywhere near the ammout of questions needed.

So heres where you can help.........Does anybody write any quizzes, or know of anybody that writes quizzes and a willing to exchange questions with me?

I have a vast back up of all my old quizzes that i am willing to stick on CD and can mail out to you.

I have been writing quizzes for the SU for about 10 months now and i have them all backed up on my computer. The basic format for all of these quizzes are:

- One quiz a week

- Six rounds in each quiz

- GK round

- Sport

- Entertainment

- Music Clips round

- Picture Round

- Other round (which is different every week)

So can anyone help??

(Thanks for reading this, it just seemed to go on forever didnt it?!)

cant you just buy a pub quiz book or something..?

A good idea, Jip. You should get a farmer's almanac, a Ripley's Believe it or Not, Trivial Pursuit, Trivial Pursuit, the Movie Edition, etc, etc...

I'm sure this is viable if you needed a diverse range of questions; I'm sure people here have a varied knowledgebase from which questions could be easily drawn.

This is a good idea also, particularly if you need questions quick. I also suggest typing 'pub quiz questions', or something similar, into a search engine - google returned over 22000 results! Some of those must be of some use.

Also, for specialist questions, ie the 'sports' round I suggest having a quick perusal through the BBC's and other news networks sports' pages or maybe some International sports sites to find questions that really will test people's knowledge - top current home-run scorer in a season, NASCAR career race-wins etc.

And, for sheer simplicity, I suggest just watching TV quizzes, not just for questions but also inspiration as to how you could derive personalised questions.

As a small suggestion to expansion of possible questions I suggest logical-based questions eg: 'An Arab sheikh tells his two sons to race their camels to a distant city to see who will inherit his fortune. The one whose camel is slower will win. The brothers, after wandering aimlessly for days, ask a wise man for advice. After hearing the advice they jump on the camels and race as fast as they can to the city. What does the wise man say?'

A:'Swap camels'

I find they're simple but confuse the hell out of people until they know the answer, and then it all becomes obvious. :)

Alternatively, I suggest (being somewhat cynical) questions based on subjects that the students are supposed to be studying, I'm willing to bet that no one will know the answer ;)

Eitherways, I hope you find enough questions for the quiz - good luck. :) :good job:

"top current home-run scorer in a season, NASCAR career race-wins etc."

Yep - that certainly would test people in Edinburgh! A more likely question is "What the **** is NASCAR?!"

1) **** Knows

2) Pointless "tactical" driving round in circles

3) A make of golf buggy

4) Let's get drunk!

Yeah - websites and books are usually a good idea.

Which creature did St. Patrick drive out of Ireland? Snakes

Which American President said "Read my lips?" George Bush

Which painter chopped off his own ear? Vincent Van Gogh

How many English kings are called Henry? (If you are allowed to mention England there) 8

Which domestic animal is sacred to Hindus? The cow

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
