Avril Lavigne - Royal Pain

Recommended Posts

avrillavigne.jpgMany people have called Avril Lavigne a royal pain -- now they have proof. London papers were all abuzz with what was seen as Lavinge's snubbing of Prince Charles last week.

She was supposed to sit beside the Prince of Wales at the July 11 Party In the Park event in London, after her set, but flew home instead.

"Avril wasn't keen on the idea. She wanted to get away as soon as she completed her set," an insider was quoted as saying in the daily newspaper. "The official line is that Avril had a plane to catch. But the truth is she is cripplingly shy and hates publicity stunts."

Apparently her security made sure the mopey lil' moppet, who's promoting her sophomore album Under My Skin, wasn't angered by the noisy snapping of shutters

Can someone clarify this statement? It's taken from the article and it's not making sense to me.

Translated

Her security made sure no pictures were taken of her. {overlayed with - "we have some irrational hatred of her"}

Thanks. I came back and read that again, before reading your comment, and couldn't understand what exactly I found so difficult about that earlier. But thank you for clarifying. :)

The whole article sounds like some spoiled child just shit his/her pants.

This isn't news; it's someone's personal rant, with cited situations.

It's not that Lavigne and her "boyfriend" couldn't possibly be assholes (i'd be willing to bet they are), it's just surprising the way Mike Bell seemed to present it with such a personal loathe effect.

He, quite frankly, sounds like whiner.

You don't like them or their conduct, ignore them and/or don't purchase their music, concert tickets, etc, you fucking cry-baby moron.............ermm, excuse me. I apologise to people who really have a reason to cry.

I'll just leave it at "you moron".

"the truth is she ... hates publicity stunts."

Hmmm, hates publicity stunts yet she’s dating the guy from Sum 41. As if publicity and popularity had nothing to do with that.

Plus she probably would have drawn less attention if she just went to the damn party. So what was more of a publicity stunt, going home or sitting next to Prince Charles?

It’s too bad that she’s one of the main musicians representing Canada right now.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
