Looks like Monster Magnet will have a new album out next month called Monolithic Baby!. I havent listened to alot of the songs yet but it sounds great so far.

Unbroken I would have to say is my favorite song on the album so far.

If you haven't heard any of their songs before they have alot of good cuts like Black Balloon, Doomsday, Down in the Jungle. Gimme Danger, Heads Explode, and Queen of You. Chances are most people probably heard their three most played songs Silver Future, Space Lord and Look To Your Orb For The Warning.

Heres the link to their web site http://www.monstermagnet.net/

I think I heard a new song on KNAC.com. It may have been "Unbroken." This band is slowly growing on me. And I do mean slowly. I think I have heard most of their work either on KNAC, compilations, or soundtracks. They have a song on The Bride of Chucky soundtrack called "I'll See You in Hell" or something to that effect that is pretty decent. Eventually I'll check out a full album.

Monster Magnet also gets categorized as stoner rock, which imo is kind of an annoying catch-all for anything heavy-ish/psychedelic-ish. You don't have to be stoned to be appreciate it, though that label suggests it. Monster Magnet and Kyuss are usually cited as the main progenitors of the genre--but whatever they are categorized as, both bands definitely fucking rock.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
