That Wednesday night he was due to make an appearance on “Ridin with Funkmaster Flex,” a popular radio sho on WQHT, otherwise known as Hot 97. He’ been invited by Flex, a veteran d.j. who wield a kingmaking power in the hip-hop industry, t perform in an improvisatory freestyle sessio with a couple of other rappers..

Getting shot or shooting someone as a street rapper brings your some street credibility and something to talk about on your songs. Some fine examples are Snoop Dogg (got HUGE after getting a murder case), 50 Cent (got shot 5? times and still alive), Tupac (got shot, lived, and made a bunch of songs about it), etc.

But 2Pac is also an example of how getting shot doesn't always work in your favour. :P

Well, getting shot may be bring you street cred...that doesnt mean that you have to broadcast it over the radio immediately, before putting on a bandage

He's trying to make 'noise' that he got shot... it will bring him some attention as to what he's gonna say about it on his next mixtape probably.
