Schools Cancel Halloween Over Religious Complaints

NEWTON -- When students at Underwood Elementary School walk to their classrooms on Monday, there will be no witches, SpongeBob SquarePants, or Johnny Damons there to greet them.

No skeleton paintings or Frankenstein tattoos, either.

The school's principal said yesterday he acceded to the complaints of a handful of parents who said that because the school's traditional Halloween celebrations offended their religious beliefs, they would not send their children to school if the revelry continued this year.

That does it - I'm resigning from the Church of Halloween...

And if your costume is too scary, you will be arrested under anti-terror laws.

The governement has issued the following guidelines:

No sharp of threatening teeth.

No fake blood, real or imaginary.

-- This includes no grazed knees.

No hoodies.

No Brazillians.

No sweets which could be mistaken for real-looking sweets which may be poisoned by Al-Quida.

No birds.

No thinking about doing any of the above, whether you have the resources to or not.

This does not protect you from Section 44.

This annoucement brought to you by the Home Office - protecting your liberty.

I feel sorry for those kids. Some of my best times as kid and adult was on Halloween and still is. Its a bitch to have a bunch of religious weenies as parents. I guess I was lucky.

In their place are "Fall-o-ween" events, which take note of harvest and seasonal change but that eliminate all things spooky - or controversial.

The downplaying of Halloween at school runs counter to the nationwide trend. The holiday is now a $3.3 billion business, as those who mark the season of goose bumps set the mood with decorations, costumes, candy, and party goods.

That is the saddest thing I have ever heard. If you think something is bad you get rid of it in your household totally. Tell you kids no Halloween for them because Pastor Jim-Bob says its Devil worship or some other crap. You don't repackage the holiday so that coporate America can still have Halloween profits while religious parents can feel good about thier participation!

Remind's me of Goerge Costanza's dad Festivus, but not as funny. :reallymad: :reallymad:

so why didn't they just have the little christian bastards stay home that day? How is this different from a day that Jews stay home or Moslems or any religious group has a holiday?

God people are dumb.

My friend lives in Newton MA. I'm going to tell him to go over to that school and say something. :reallymad:

Child disciplined for wearing Halloween costume to school

A Tulsa parent is outraged over how her child was disciplined at school for wearing a costume.

Crystal Harris says her 5-year old son was forced to take off his costume, and go through the entire school day with only his underwear on.

The incident happened Monday at Walt Disney Elementary.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
