Motel de Moka. After Hour. 1997. Remix

Motel de Moka has put together a really cool mix of 90s electronic songs for your listening pleasure, and some nice videos, too, including an interview with Brian Eno. I particularly like the Underworld and Autechre cuts ...

Autechre - Slip

Check it out HERE. That is where I'm heading B)

Remember the late 90’s? It was the peak of popular electronic music in big label. Even Aphex Twin was signed by Warner to produce an abstract work like Druqs. Name like Authecre, Amon Tobim, The Orb was popping out on both side of atlantic, with UK leading the output. Powerful computer software was available for the first time to everybody with little money to start experimenting just like Brian Eno. Electronica moves beyond simple dubbing and LP sampling and into tweaking the actual soundwave digitally. Exciting time, if not somewhat obscure. Moka is building a giant decade size list, maybe I should make a little side list for electronica while she is yelling at me for not helping. :P heh. Anyway, here is a short electronica list from the 90’s. Without going too far into the crazy bleep land.

01. Mouse on Mars - Elli im Wunderland

Vulvaland (1994)

02. Underworld - Banstyle + Sappys Curry

Second Toughest in the Infants (Tvt, 1996)

03. Autechre - Slip

Amber (Tvt, 1995)

04. Dimitri from Paris - Attente Musicale

Sacre Bleau (1996)

05. Orbital - Easy Serv

Blue Album (Ato Records, 2004)

06. Edith Progue - 12 A.M.

Timeline (Mille Plateaux, 2007)

07. Peace Orchestra - The Man Part Two

Peace Orchestra (G-Stone Records, 1999)

Whitney Houston - I Look To You (2009)

Whitney's new release. I like it but I tend to favor oldies. For me, her best track ever is "I Will Always Love You" from 1992 I think. That was also one of my favorite Dolly Parton tracks from many years earlier.

Tracklist:

01. Million Dollar Bill

02. Nothin' But Love

03. Call You Tonight

04. I Look To You

05. Like I Never Left (featuring Akon)

06. A Song For You

07. I Didn't Know My Own Strength

08. Worth It

09. For The Lovers

10. I Got You

11. Salute

There are several good remasters out of the Beatles albums that have been out for a long time. I am not sure if all of their albums have been remastered. You can find many if not all of their albums in Japanese Red Millennium Remaster and/or MFSL (Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab) editions. I saw at least 6 of their albums in a 96khz 24bit vinyl rip of MFSL remastered audiophile vinyl done on very high end equipment if I remember correctly. Those rips will make you throw rocks at your redbook standard cds (44100hz 16bit which is what all music cds are).

I'm sure the new remasters will show up on the Russian websites by Sept 5. I'll keep you posted.

Just as predicted. It is now Sept 5 and I am playing the 2009 remastered Let It Be album in flac.

Gotta love the Russians.

On my Jurassic equipment with my Jurassic hearing it sounds good to me. I think this remaster will get rave reviews and downloads...er...I mean sales once it released next week.

The Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition

The Temper Trap are a rock band from Melbourne, Australia. This song was released as a single - it's from their debut album, Conditions, which was released in March.

Sweet disposition

never too soon

oh reckless abandon

like no one's watching you

a moment, a love

a dream, aloud

a kiss, a cry

our rights, our wrongs

a moment, a love

a dream, aloud

a moment, a love

a dream, aloud

chorus

so stay there

cause i'll be coming over

and while our blood's still young

it's so young, it runs

and won't stop til it's over

won't stop to surrender

songs of desperation

I played them for you

a moment, a love

a dream, aloud

a kiss, a cry

our rights, our wrongs

a moment, a love

a dream, aloud

a moment, a love

a dream, aloud

chorus:

so stay there

cause i'll be coming over

and while our blood's still young

it's so young, it runs

and won't stop til it's over

won't stop to surrender

a moment, a love

a dream, aloud

a kiss, a cry

our rights, our wrongs (won't stop til it's over)

a moment, a love

a dream, aloud

a kiss, a cry

our rights, our wrongs(won't stop til it's over)

a moment, a love

a dream, aloud

a kiss, a cry

our rights, our wrongs (won't stop til it's over)

a dream, aloud

a dream, aloud

a moment, a love

a moment, a love (won't stop to surrender)

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
